Super useful video. I've had one of these controllers for a little while and I had no idea about the speed-up function

+SNES drunk glad to hear it! I didn't know about it either until I did some deeper research!

The mute function is a product of the time it was released. In the 90's, people still had TV sets that were too old to have any remote control support so they would have to get up and turn the analog volume knob down.

Thanks for the logical explanation, makes sense to me! :)

I managed to nab one of these for about $50 CIB, which is nuts these days. Very happy with it, it's such a comfortable and unique controller!

Neat, I didn't even think the speed function would've worked on the SGB2 considering the fixed clock speed.

That's really neat. I love weird/ unusual game controllers. A couple of my favorites are the Super Pad 64, a very comfortable 2-handed N64 controller with a Metal analog stick meaning it won't turn into powder, and the KBM C&L controls Championship Joystick for the SNES, an arcade Joystick for the SNES with actual Happ arcade parts for the Buttons and Stick.

Ah, I remember the Super Pad 64! That was in magazine ads all the time :) Just looked up that Championship Joystick, that looks very sturdy indeed!

I did not know about the speed up mode. I see you were doing the clock speed changes on the SGB 2; so I guess they must have found a way to make it compatible regardless.

I would love to have one of these. But at $60 minimum on eBay, that's a little bit too steep for a controller. I'd probably spend $40 at the most. A shame those codes can't be done by hand. I would totally use the slow code to cheat at the slot machine in Pokemon. =P

+Draygone Fuzzbottom Very true! Back when I got my pad, they were incredibly easy to obtain (there was tonnes of new, boxes stock available from Japan). I think I paid around £20 for mine, much less than today's prices (like most retro things, unfortunately!).
A shame really, as it really adds to the SGB experience :)

I was able to snag one in Akihabara (at Friends game store) for 3000 yen (about $30USD) just a week and a half ago. Pretty lucky, I guess :D

From what I hear, that's pretty lucky! Hope this video has helped you get the most out of your purchase :)

Draygone Fuzzbottom Jr I got lucky and bought a couple CIBs when they were going for about $30 each on fleabay. They both seemed brand new. Unfortunately, I was late to the party on the Game boy Player version of this controller and that is over $100 now on eBay. I want it real bad but, that's way too much.
