    Mate this is a great video so informative and the finished set up is so mint. Really tidy and nothing like the slap dash shoddy work the auto sparkies do in my area

    Good vid and nice product mate, I’d just say it seems a little bit pricey when the bcdc 1225d can be purchased for $440 or so, at the $600 full retail maybe, but $500 for wire harness and bracket is a bit hard to pull the trigger on for me.

    Very well presented video - thanks for that. One question though and I hope you can reply - I'm planning to install a snorkel in my Pajero and as such I don't think I can mount the bcdc in the location you have shown in this video (please correct me if I am wrong)? Do you have an alternate mount point for the bcdc when a snorkel is installed?

      I was gonna ask the same question

    Mate, just want to know if the mounting position will cause a problem if i install a safari snorkel?

    Great video, the video work and explanation is top notch. Wondering if you make a kit for installing the bcdc charger and aux battery in the 3rd row seat well like many Paj owners do (and I'm looking to do)? The Paj has a 12 v socket in the rear cargo area - could this be used for the ignition signal to the charger??

      Hey Mate, Thanks for the feedback We don't have a specific kit for that setup but our universal kit is what we would recommend for a setup like that. It can be customised as far asLengths go. Here is a link to it www.aussiedriftertouring.com.au/shop/universal-tub-mount-dual-battery-system-redarc-bcdc1225d

    Good video thanks - I like the detail. I'm installing a different DCDC charger (into a caravan, not the vehicle) that requires connection to ignition as well. Whats the best way to make that connection - run a wire back to the engine bay and use the fuse holder like you showed in this video? If so - where can I get one one those? (NX Pajero)

      @AussieDrifterTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feed back mate. You could run back to the car unless you already have an ignition controlled circuit to the caravan for the fridge maybe? If so you could tap into that, might be easier

    Great video mate, I also have a Pajero with the smart alternator, I’m installing the Redarc also, a question though, did you connect the orange wire to earth or leave it disconnected?
    Many thanks.

      hi mate no we didn't we recommend just staying in "a" profile when using a lead acid battery in a hot environment such as the engine bay in this car.

    Excellent video for installation. One question which is the ignition cable has to be connected to the fuse box? Any effect if not connected?

    • @AussieDrifterTouring
      @AussieDrifterTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, without that connected the charger may cut out and stop charging at certain points while driving. It will cut back in again but by connecting the blue wire it will stay charging the while rime you drive no matter what the variable voltage alternator is doing.

    hi, excellent explanation of the operation of the second battery. One question, will the kit that comes with the base for the second battery be sent to Chile? and what would the cost be. Cheers

      Hey Mate that tray is heavy and and awkward shape so postage won't be cheap for that one. I would recommend getting a tray over there if you can and we can supply the electrical kit. Might work out better for you?

    Hey mate, where would you reccomend fitting the bcdc if the vehicle has a snorkel as there isn't enough space in that location.

    • @AussieDrifterTouring
      @AussieDrifterTouring  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey mate, you could mount it our in-between the radiator and front grill. that will give it good air flow.

    Forgive me for being naive…. Is it necessary to have the unit wired all the way to the opposite side as opposed to the head lamp or another spot closer to the batteries 🤔? That would reduce cost, weight, installation work. Unless the unit needs to be positioned at the back of a vehicle like the bin of a van “UTE”, all this extra wiring seems unnecessary 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @AussieDrifterTouring
      @AussieDrifterTouring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, Yer it is certainly best to have the bcdc charger as close to the aux battery as possible but in an engine bay setup there is a lot more to take into consideration. For example the Redarc bcdc derates once it reaches 50c and cuts out completely when it reaches 80c so a cool location away from engine heat and a location the catches air while driving is an ideal location that will make the charger more efficient. On the side were the Batteries are located is tight in this model, you will have 2 Batteries mounted there and the hot exhaust if you were to mount it toward the rear. Hope that makes sense.
