    1260S is fantastic. I do not like the looks of the V4 without the panniers, the mounts are too visible and the single arm rear suspension is way cooler on the outgoing 1260S model. The Desmo torque is addictive in the 1260, I can ride along very fast friends on sport bikes and even took it to the track. My two cents, Ducati Multistrada is awesome regardless of V4 or 1260 engine differences.

    What a beautiful bike. I had one about years ago but stuck with my roadglide. Sure do miss the weight difference between these Duckati and the big Harley touring bikes.

    Um the key fob feature you talked about...? Same thing as the old bikes. If you want to unlock the bags or the tank... ya need to pop out your key and do it... otherwise if you are just jumping on and off the bike... same as 2010.

    Crazy that people can’t remove their saddlebags. Dealer needs to demonstrate the proper method of bag removal. Nothing wrong with the bag attachment points.

    The V4 S sacrifes performance, handling and fuel econmy. To get a 17 in front wheel and signle side swing arm you have to spend close to 32 K to get a V4 Pikes Peak. More torque at a lower rpm is a huge advantage for the 1260 S. I have 25 k miles on my 2020 1260 S and have averaged ~ 50 mpg. The V4 has an advantage for off-road riding.

    To answer the title of the vid. Its not. The 1200, specifically 10 to 15 was the last itteration of the 1198 that was worth a shit, especially if you want to tune it, or have it last. Mines a 13, tuned, makes the V4 look weak with its piddly "170hp". Sure the new bikes got all the fancy suspension and goodies, but that engine breaks the deal for me.

    Bike of the Year. No question. But it's important to mention that to invoke the radar and blindspot features, there's an additional $850 fee (excluding labor and taxes), that is 'not' covered within the MSRP. Aside from the panniers being easier to remove, their main new benefit is they no longer fall over when you put them on the ground! The MTS is much faster than the old bike in roll-on tests, which highlights the V4 spins up faster and the gearing is better too. The Full model is more expensive than the travel and radar, but gets a dedicated paint scheme, carbon front mudguard, and homologated Akrapovic exhaust canister.

    “I’m going to take my Ducati multistrada off road” -said no one ever.
    That’s what BMW and KTM is for. Losing that v twin Ducati sound is going to be a bummer.

    • @MotorDanko
      @MotorDanko 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually, there is a lot of off roading marketing involved to the ducati, probably on the states will not be as common, but one of the most important off road school in colombia uses ducati (Capital Riders), and here in spain the Ducati team, took a group of people that i know and make them do some crazy off road stuff (cabras sobre ruedas, twin trail, trail dreamer) you can look them up, and they all have something good to say about the ducati off road, being all of them KTM riders... so maybe it will impress...

    • @JonBecker81
      @JonBecker81 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotorDanko very interesting. Most people in the states wouldn’t even consider taking a multistrada out for any kind of off roaring. We consider them more of a sport tourer here. I don’t see many of them at all out and about. BMWs and KTM to a lesser extent are king here.

    • @MotorDanko
      @MotorDanko 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonBecker81 yes, there is a lot of people, I can say over 90% that will consider the multistrada a sport tourer, but the same people with put a 1250 gs on the same bag...

    Both are great.. the v4 is spawned by emissions. 1260 is lighter , quicker and handles better! Mileage is night and day! 1260 mid 40mpg all day! The v4 is very low 30s mpg!!

      its ducati, you don't put "reliability" and ducati on the same sentence... they are nice built bikes, but they always have a ton of stuff going on... and more stuff means more thing to fail, even the old one.. it could look simple on the side of the new one, but is not simple at all.

      Cylinder deactivation is already used without issues on all Ducati V4 straddle engines (Panigale / Streetfighter), it reduces a ton of heat compared to the MTS 1260.

    The internet is a wash with reviews of the Multistrada V4 and some BMW or other European so called premium or exotic bike but they never seem to mention why these manufacturers constantly run at the bottom of the customer satisfaction and reliability tables .Have i missed something ? or is reliability not important anymore ?

      It seems the main reason reviewers are getting such low gas mileage on the v4 is that they are whacking the throttle open a lot more often. I saw a video of some guys that did a road trip with one on a 1260 Multistrada and the other on a v4, and they said the range per tank was about the same.

  • @georgechatzidakis3111

    Definitely not the new one! Cylinders deactivation, heavier, MPG, 8sec from key-on to engine run, 60K km service myth with no sense, much lower torque and power compared to GT with DDS kit...maybe wait till next revised model...

    I had a 2015 Multistrada. It was a POS. The Skyhook suspension wanted to do tank slappies at moderate cornering speeds. The throttle maps let any old lady in a Prius out drag me at the lights, but once in a while would go bananas wheelieing me into the car in front. At 5,000 miles there was a pile of metal filings on the oil pan drain bolt, the longest 3/16 inch. The clutch slave cylinder leaked so it had to be bled every month. The cost of maintenance and repairs was ridiculous.
    I now have a 1290 SAS. Better in every way. I hear VW wants to sell Ducati. Pity the fool who buys it.
