People tend to forget that Erik is a BEAST on guitar. Not only is he an incredible sound engineer, but look at his picking hand at 2:58. That is just goddamn crazy tight. I love this guy.
+DaemoniumCC 20 plus years of brutal shredding. Belphegor's Conjuring the dead sounded brutal as fuck, especially the guitar tone with Erik's death metal guitar experience combined with Helmuth's experience, that's like 40 years experience between the two, both on a professional level of live and studio work playing extreme metal.
Hate Eternal is a ridiculously underrated and Eric has made an impact on American extreme metal scene like no other! I can recognize HE from thousands of other bands! 🤘🏻
Hate Eternal is criminally underrated, and Erik is a machine. I actually got to meet and have a decent conversation with him once, even got to interview J.J, and they are really nice dudes as well.
yeah he is really cool. I went to catch them on tour back in '99 or 2000? and Eric was really fucking cool: Eric was like wanna smoke? so, I said lets do it. and got invited on the bus to get smoked out...been a fan of his playing since the Ripping Corpse days. great guy.
I don’t think Hate Eternal is taken Seriously.Hes the Guitar player from Morbid Angel who started another DM band.Hate Eternal is the only DM I listen to anymore besides old DM like Corpse.

One of my favorite guitarist atm, I've always wanted to meet Dime and unfortunately he passed away before I could, I'd love to meet Erik one day and just talk gear with him, what a cool guy 🤘
Not sure about the Maxon pedals, but DAMN does BC Rich make a badass looking guitar! It just screams "METAL"!! My mid-80s Warlock is still a fun guitar...
I have been looking for a new guitar pedal for my next record, it's a difficult task to find new cool distortions for guitars, thanks to this I have found the one I want.
+GodlykeInc the Maxon OD808X, for my first ep I used the amptweaker because misery index used it for Heirs to Thievery, it's quite difficult to get pedals to try them, so I just look for albums that sound awesome and buy the pedals used in them, this video just showed exactly what I needed and Erik is a freaking genius, I had the pedal already in sight but this video just convinced me, I might buy the green one too, just for fun :p
+Nick Caveman Badass! Yeah, the OD808 sounds different from the OD808X, it may offer you a cool variation, especially if you're digging the 808X. :-D! If you want, we have a few 808s listed on our B-Stock page for a good discount.
Actually my 6505 with a od pedal doesn't have enough hiss for me to put a noise gate in and sacrifice tone I use a Luther drive which is a tube screamer clone
Saluti a tutti dall'Italia ❤️!!!.....Uso il Marshall jcm 800 2203 con il maxon Extreme suonando Musica DOOM 😈🐐😈!!!!!....... Grande Erik!!!!!!!!!!......HAIL DI'AUL 😈🐐. .. ...
My main sound now is a clone of my PRS MT-15 with a 50watt transformer swap, along with a TS-9 and Zuul noisegate. I run that through a custom ENGL 4x12 with v30s & a T-75 cross pattern. It’ll cut through a forest without a blade lol. Sounds like a pack of chainsaw wielding Rottweilers.
@@illuddivinus3309 yeah Man I am playing with a mesa boogie dual rectifier reborn with the maxon st9 pro plus supertube and the fortin zuul noise gate in a mesa 4x12 rectifier oversized.....it is more brutal than a pack of bears over your back!!
@@derrotamundial4554 dude look up the MT-15 on Ola’s channel. It’s the only amp he’s never recommended an overdrive pedal for. He along with everyone on the metal scene are waiting on the MT-100 - which should be out next year hopefully 🙏🏼. In the meantime, you can swap the transformer out to a 50 watt - which will sub it to between 65-70 watts of total power through two 6L6’s at full blast. The key to this beast is its 5 preamp gain stages. YES 5 stages of gain. Mesa can’t touch that. I’m telling you, it sounds like you’ve opened a portal into hell with any tunning lower than C#.
Hate Eternal is a band that I really want to love but I feel like the songwriting is not there. Rutan is a beast as an engineer and musician, plus is a great guy. My favorite is 'I monarch' but the few singles from 'Upon Desolate Sands' show a lot of promise.
Yes, yes. Rutan is an amazing player and a great producer. But... did you notice that if Eric shaves his face and cut his hair he would look exactly like John Cena?... No?... well... that's important.
+Vomiting Christ Typically yes but I love the blend he used, came out really fitting to his playing style on Infernus. I'd rather have the sort of muddy tone of the marshall than an annoying gain filled tone lol
Kelly Jackson tharsh metal of course is a joke now.....for death metal or black metal(in their most progressive and extreme)is a fucking alive stronger than ever before

Holy crap! I can't do that.

Kinda' can now but after 2hr warmup sesh.

Why did you underrate them???
Erik Rutan rules, Infernus is a standout album. I’m excited to see what he brings to the table with Cannibal Corpse
The Ironbird is hands-down one of my favorite B.C. Rich designs.
Ya it's nice . That jlv 7 string purple
Usually you reserve “hands down” for something that is actually your favourite.

It's quite ludicrous.
it just downright irresponsible

Erik really does love gain. He mentions it a lot.
+Sarcastikbreadloaf N' Butter ...have you checked out any of the records he's done? Haha, lots and lots of gain. :-)
No he doesn't he said he actually keeps the gain low on most of the amps except jcm 800

That Ironbird!

Fantastic video
Those Boss Reverb/Delay combo pedals he uses are really cool. I think they're called RV-3?
please what about the maxon with 6505? which one you recommend to use?
the OD-808 combined with the 6505/5150 is a classic combo.

Rutan- "I use tube screamer."
The left hand whatever, but his picking hand wow great
I guess they must have decided to slow down The Stygian Deep because he's playing it here probably 20 bpm faster than it is on the record, hahah
great video ....... =)
Nice video and album. And in case no one has ever told you this, Rutan translates to The Square in Swedish, which I think is pretty funny.

The pedals sound good, but check out his scary right hand technique.
"Lol jk I ised axe fx on everything"

what is better for metal with a mesa boogie single rectifier: maxon st-9 pro plus super tube or mxr zakk wylde zw44?...
