хорошо Антошка сказал
A phrase that describes you just as well lmao
Or at least almost
Тоха ты тоже определенно
Alex Webster is The death metal proffesor
-"It's pretty easy"
I must have a disability then. That sucks !
@@freeschaeffercox1640 you are not alone
hehe
Hahaha
Hehe
You know what I love about this man? He's a virtuoso-level musician, but he doesn't mind sacrificing technicality for the sake of a good song. Not many good musicians are willing to do that.
He actually said something really interesting about some of their recent stuff. In order to avoid getting stale and repetitive, he sometimes tries to challenge himself technically in the hopes of pushing himself out of his comfort zone writing wise.
This guy is a machine, 100% metal

Alex Webster, possibly the coolest and down to earth guy in metal.
100% no doubt about it, real educated well spoken nice guy
a lot of death metal bands are super cool and down to earth only band I met that were kinda dicks was deicide well mainly glen
Him and David Ellefson
@@rathernot3839, 100% glen is a bit if a prick. Alex is a real class act. I've met him many times and he always makes the fans feel appreciated.
I had the honor of meeting him at Summer Slaughter. He is definitely down to earth and so humble
He's basically one of the best bassist of all time. He needs to put out a really good instructional DVD so his legend lives on!
I love the calm look on his face as he fucking shreds
This gentleman is such an educator...besides being one of the best bassists on the planet, he articulates so well...The way he describes chording is exactly how I do it...for effect...and the importance of mids...HUGE. Mids are what cut you through the mix...and how he describes "being where you need to be" is insanely important...knowing when to come up in the sound and when to clear out of the way for clarity...Cheers Alex!
Legend
Even if you don't like death metal, take lessons from these people they are amazing musicians, those techniques are essential
I really don't enjoy CC music or songs, not my cup of tea. However - I could watch Alex and Rob for hours. Just wild technique I have a ton of respect for. Alex also knows his instrument and theory like a madman. Just watched a CC documentary and they are no doubt talented, down to earth, intelligent, articulate, and seem like great guys. Point - don't have to like the music but offer respect when it is due.
I'm with you man. The guys technique and tone are so on point.
+Louis Crowley I know what you mean. I always watch their videos hahaha
I'm a big Cannibal fan, but they are really respectable musicans and hard-workers. I'm glad people realize that even if they don't really like the sound. Separating the musician from the music is sometimes really good!
Spoken like a true person of intellect which is missing from ppl today, it's like if u don't like the music u don't like them, they don't Kno how to separate the two..
that's how l feel about classical
Thank you, this world needs more non metal people to see the insane talent that death metal has to offer
I met Alex last Autumn when Cannibal Corpse was touring in Finland. He is a real gentleman, very down-to-earth type of guy. I also met George. It's great how much they appreciate their fans.
After a show in Providence RI he came out to the crowd and met all the fans
Even if you're not a death meal/cannibal corpse fan you can't deny the fact that he's an amazing bassist
What a tone
"Sometimes it's just whether the chords sound good or not."
*BANG BANG BANG BANG*
CC is one of my favorite bands and they are some of my favorite musicians; Alex especially! He's so intelligent, skilled, and well-spoken; well mannered too. I saw them last year and when it was in between songs I shouted, "Webster!!!" and he started plucking some fast notes. That was an amazing moment for me.
The chords discussion was too long
Damn. I watch this almost once per month.
Same!
And Chrono Trigger all the way!!!
:D
I do not know the first thing about a bass guitar but I have always been attracted to it. What I do know is that this man, in my opinion, is extremely humble. Obviously I do not know him and only "know what I know" from seeing him in interviews, on stage, in clinics, etc., but that is my perception of him and I am going with it! I could be his bass cleaning assistant though...for free! LOL! As I always say in reply to those who state "that music makes you kill people!"......"Ummmm, No! It keeps me from killing people!" Thank you Alex!
This guy is maybe the coolest, easiest going guy in the genre. I met him three times, and just the nicest chill guy.
The Steve Harris of Death Metal.
Dalton Lawrence nahhhhh
More like Jordan B Peterson
JerkFace FuckasaurusRex
No
Steve Harris the guy withoud bass in his bass sound
@@mlody969 what are you talking about? he is always locking in with the drums
I've learned so much from this guys videos and interviews since i've been playing bass. One of the wisest men in metal. Actually, one of the wisest men in music.

So modest, so professional, so fucking articulate. Alex Webster, you are fucking awesome.
Best bassist in Death Metal
together with Forest
yeah, Alex's keeps his skills and positivity very high up there. It shows in his playing.
I totally agree with you! I've tried so hard to explain to people why when I play, I play fingers and not pick, and no one ever understands! Finally! Thank you! :)
how can an instrument's tone manage to give gooosebumps??
Magic bass guitar fron Cannibal Corpsie
I have a frowny face for my EQ ... you can't get anymore brutal than that XD
this man is the whole reason i got a 5 string bass and the reason that bass is a spector best bassist in the world
I have a couple autographed Spector promo photos Alex signed for me hanging in my music room. Also have a signed copy of his book "Extreme Metal Bass".
"I just play bass, and that's what I do"
And my god he dose it well! Alex is the best!
he has a knack for explaining things so everyone would understand .. i like that. i also love how STRAIGHT the fingers of his picking hand are when he plays. awesome
his bass makes the earth rumble....awsome tone
It is about time we get some material like this. He needs to release a dvd.
i was lucky enough to meet alex after a cannibal show and he was the coolest and nicest dude ever, he even signed my arm lol
Guys if you want to get better with the three finger technique, buy his extreme metal bass book. i've been using it for 2 weeks and i improved a LOT
LSame here man. His book was extremely helpful to me when I first started getting into extreme metal.
+Andrea Parussini I didn't buy it because I didn't really find it here in Brazil yet, but I gave it a look and it looks great!
most vintage death metal band members are cool as hell. 85 - 95 , just metalheads.
Jesus is Dog : 1985-1995
He's a great musician, and he's humble as fuck. I wish there'd be more like him.
I just want to listen to him play bass all day. That tone is amazing!
He should seriously make a DVD, giving even more awesome lessons.
Webster NEEDS to release a DVD....I'd buy it the second it was released.
One of my favorite interviews with Alex
Alex Webster always well spoken, common sense and a down to heart! great musician
This guy is my full inspiration on learning bass. If it weren't for his lessons I would have never been able to learn how to play death metal, or any type of metal at that.
this guy is an insanely good bassist, definitely in the top 10 best
Hes 1 of my favorite bass players
He is the world’s fucking best bass player IMHO. His technique is fucking insane. It’s hard to adjust for 2 fingers to 3. And his tone IS FUCKING AMAZING. You don’t even have to be a Cannibal Corpse fan to admit he’s a fucking insane bass player. Fucking inspiration right there.
Check out Blotted science, Webster is in it with Ron Jarzombrek, and Hanes Grossman (Obscura) and on their first release the drummer from Behold the Arctopus. It's all instrumental and oozes musicianship and musicality.
His bass sounds amazinggggg
Cannibal Corpse was live 2 days ago in Estonia and i got to shake hands with him. I recomend anyone going to see them live. Most powerfull thing i have ever witnessed :)
LEGEND!!!
“you can saw away at it forever” *helicopter gattling gun noises*
From what I've seen from live videos, he rests it on the Low B string when that's not in use, and usually moves from there, and from the pick up when it's needed.
love the metallic sound, damn I will be happy with a spector legend :D
This guy is a TRUE bass player \m/!!! Alex!!
Alex writes a lot for the band so i have always been curious if he did it on guitar or on the bass and now i know. Such a humble response from him regarding that.
alex is so metal...one of my idols
cant wait for his book
Not a fan of their music too much but respect the musical skill it takes to play like that... Alex Webster is just amazing and a very humble guy it seems...
if you were introduced to Cannibal Corpse or Blotted Science coming from a background of no metal, you would never expect the musicians behind them to be genuinely nice people. I had the privilege of meeting Alex Webster and he was by far one of the nicest people I've met
My favourite bassist ever. He could record a solo album of just bass and I would get into it and headbang just as much as if it were a whole band.
He's endorsed by Darkglass, I believe. They have massive tone.
He is just AMAZING AND GORGEOUS!
He speaks like a true professional. Insane bass player
I very much would like to play like him one day, I have been honing the three finger technique for awhile now and I love it.
That’s what she said.
I'm glad he said about like playing guitar on bass is visa versa...!!! Been a bass player since the age of eleven...could never play guitar worth shit...got more into metal over the years and finding the drop tunings really helped my guitar playing...!!!! It just felt more like playing a bass to me..!!!
Love the way you teach things, very graspable.
beautiful spector tone
Man, I would give all my money to learn to play bass from this guy!
Its easier to learn the right way rather than having to unlearn or correct bad habits.
God, that bass has such a powerful tone.
Fantastic musician and songwriter.
Alex Webster...
The bass player from Cannibal Corpse...
Used the phrase "frownie face".
Mr. Webster, you have made me a much happier person.
"We want it to sound like a big machine just rolling over everything" 🤣
Gracias Alex, for teaching me the three finger galloping technique. It sounds sick!!
@infamousinz so appropriate, seeing as he says in the beginning that you can keep sawing away at it playing with 3 fingers
Is in CC - hesitates to say "darn"
smartest guy in the whole worldwide metal scene \m/
Websters a beast on bass, this video is brutal
Some people can't play with picks, like my self. I just get more of a sense of the rhythm with my fingers and i can accent certain parts a lot better (switching to a quick slap or pop). Honestly, i should dedicate some time to practicing with a pick to improve because i feel as a bass player, you should be somewhat well rounded in all styles IMHO.
really instructive
I always wondered if Alex wrote CC songs on guitar or on bass. I was amazed to heard he writes them on bass. Wow.
Like he himself said, it's nothing crazy. It's literally the same thing lmao
Webster -master,teacher,legend!
Not a big CC fan, but Alex Webster is one of the greatest metal bassists alive, next to Steve Harris!
thank you alex
such a beastly tone makes me wanna get a spector!
I get to see Corpse tonight! I hope I get to meet him! He seems he would be cool to talk to.
He's such a good dude. Smart too. He was the brains ,business and finance behind corps. Not to mention he's probably the best bassist in the death metal world
Steve di Giorgio the Best Death metal bassist.
I love information from ppl with do much talent like this & this was over 20 years ago so think of how much he has grown in information & skill fucking everything.. fucking awesome yo, absorb this shit..
Does anybody know what the song is on 0:00?
This proves why Bass players are the heart of the band! \m/
I'd love to be able to just isolate the bass part from a couple of tracks, just so I could hear every little nuance in his playing
I fucking love this guy he's the coolest
@W3B5TA I think this is the guy Corpse talks about during "Five Nails Through The Neck"
Such a great guy
Best bassist on metal, and best bass sound ever!
Да просто как человек!!!!!!Порадовал!!!!!!!
This guy is amazing. I prefer playing with 2 fingers tho, I feel I can achieve same speed as with 3 fingers, tho it's true you get tired a lot faster than with 3 fingers.
finally an instruction video!
I've never heard a bass sound so damn agressive in my life.
