04:12 That goodbye kiss and hug. Oh, my heart.
Jihao's mystery tropical leaves are called "ti leaves" in hawaii they bring protection are also a big part of wrapping foods that are slow cooked underground. They also make gorgeous arrangements with anthiriums and ferns
omg we use banana leaves to wrap food in my country (Sri Lanka) it tastes so good!
Today’s video was just so sweet. I’m not sure what it was, but it just hit in the heart. I think it was the first time in a video that I saw you two kiss, when Chris left for work, and it actually brought a tear to my eye.
i know right? i know public display of affection can be difficult and there are many cultural rules about it, but i personally really like it and especially when i feel for the people involved, which i definitely do after at least two years of watching this channel 🤗
If you find a where the ants are coming from, you can put peppermint oil on their trail to stop new ants from following them in. Ants leave a scent trail to lead other ants in. Also in front of the windows and doors if you're not sure where they're coming in!
didn't know that. i always put cinnamon. they really don't like that. but peppermint oil sounds less messy.
Mint also works! Try putting them near any cracks.
That sweater hack is actually so smart I’ve just been folding them and it takes up so much more space
I love the way all my fav people on yt watch each other’s videos haha! The library decorations are so cute I wish I’d had a school librarian that invested :)
whose channel was that??
this one made me tear up, beautiful mundanity & a home so rare & full of love. grateful too be cosy too
That looks so elegant of a dinner party in a small house! The touch of brown table cloth has added to the elegant style. You have such an aesthetic talent in you. And, hot pot is my fave especially in the winter!..😍❤️
What a great little film. Every new one exceeds expectation i love Theo. And Chris. Both are charming souls
Awesome, I'd love to see a train travel vlog. As someone from the Nordics I totally get your seasonal depression but I have to say looking at you guy's place it looks like paradise even in December. Fresh citrus fruits from the garden and sunny days. Idk if I could ever feel down if that was my winter. Amazing place/house you guys live in.
have you ever seen trains plowing snow?
Aw I loved how Theo started to Dance with you he’s such a cute dog😊
I ❤ how special your relationship is with Chris. So exotic and unique is the arrangement of the hot pot decor. Coming from a Asian family, hot pot is our go to for cold nights. I might need to step it up a notch on the creativity 😊.
Happy Holidays to you, Chris and Theo!
I am sorry but I am kinda new to this channel so am not sure, are Chris and Benji just roommates or are they like together or something?
Fürsorglich und liebevoll … so entspannend ihm zuzusehen
This is how i complete my weekend. Watching Benji's videos😊😊
Missed you ❤. My Sunday morning routine is to clean the house, then have coffee and look for Benji content. I m jealous I can't keep a fern alive 😫.
Love your videos! They are so relaxing! Wishing you and Chris a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2024!
theres always something about the colder and gloomier weather that just makes us more tired and less motivated. We are human beings in reality and winter months are always what i call hibernation season, and its a good reminder to slow down as the year closes. i know the feeling of random spurts of lethargy or even just feeling down about being down, or uninspired. but i try to remind myself it will leave soon so i try not to overthink it and just let it be
takes a while to get out of a slump sometimes. glad you're being patient and kind to yourself. :) take as much time as you need, we are all so grateful for these vlogs, I know I am. they help me out more than you could ever know. thank you
You, Chris and Theo were meant for each other. Thank you for sharing your lovely family with us. 🥹
You will love the Coast Starlight! Keep your eyes open for waterfall on west side at Dunsmuir. BTW Dunsmuir is still a rail road hobo town!
New subscriber here and I am just compelled to express how LIGHT & floaty I feel having found your channel. ahhh.🌿
It’s special that you can share moments like this with us. No need to apologize have a great christmas and we look forward to seeing you when we see you
I love the captions, fonts and overall style of this video!!
Glad I'm not alone in feeling burnt out.
Hot pot is so much fun and the best part is everyone gets to eat exactly what they want! The shorter days and weaker sun are hard for a lot of us. Hope you feel better soon.
Your videos are always a delight to watch, and so relaxing.
Those are ti leaves...you can wrap food and cook in them (bake/steam) -
Nice relaxing video as always. The tip about the sweater was a bonus, I've been folding my sweaters for a long time so they don't stretch out and they take up alot of space that way. Why I never thought of draping them over the hanger I'll never know, but I'm glad you did.
14:40: Thank you for sharing. Wishing you, Chris and T a peaceful winter holiday, Christmas, or whatever you celebrate.
Always have the most wholesome sweet videos!! What a really great group of people around you too!❤ seeing well done film/vlog like this it’s what makes my harder days a little lighter. And I swear something must be in the air because this last month (arguably month and a half+😅) things have been so exhausting!
Watching this gave me some of the drive I needed to finish some chores I've also been putting off for a while, some for months, including repotting some of my plants. Thank you for sharing, my plants are grateful!
Those are really pretty plants. Yes, definitely get out of the house, maybe volunteer at shelter or a little sude job at a nursery will help get you out of that funk. I really enjoy your videos and thanks for sharing the sweater tip. Have great hoilday and Merry Christmas
Just came here to say this too! maybe consider volunteering at a community garden, or something along those lines? Love your content, and hope you're able to rest and do what you need!
chihuahuas are sooo sweet 💚🥬🌲
Winter is a low energy time of year - it’s good to let yourself lounge/rest more ;) - hey thanks for the sweater hanging top :0
Enjoy the coast starlight!! I used to just take it between portland and tacoma, but the whole coast trip is supposed to be super beautiful. My pro tip is that the wifi is always horrible/nonexistent, so be prepared for offline activities!
Wonderful home and plants 🪴
❤❤❤ for the three of you, from Holland. Love, Anne.
the dinner table looked to die for omgggg so artistic!!
Sending good vibes, positive thinking, and tons of love your way!!!!
I use the lavender scented Swiffer floor wipes to keep ants at bay and also ant traps. I had them bad this summer for some strange reason. I also use peppermint oil to keep spiders away because I too cannot when it comes to bugs.
That song by Noah was so good tho, thanks for putting us on to him
I love watching your videos as I work on things around my house, it feels like a friend keeping me company. Thanks for sharing
What a beautiful Christmas tree y'all have thanks for sharing Merry Christmas guy's hopefully y'all have a amazing Christmas and New years 🙋☕🎣🏳️🌈🧑🎄
Here in germany this tree would cost less than 20$/€ 😳 also, I enjoy your videos so much, benji!
You could set the tree on your small round table. It would have a greater presence without taking up more room!
I love Chris, he looks like my son Milan. Even he has similar energy and expressions ❤❤❤❤
the holidays makes me feel drained pretty easily so i totally understand your intro texts there
You are definitely inspiring me to host my own little dinner parties in the future when hopefully my husband and I have a house
I am new to your vlog and enjoy it tremendously.
🎶 music is so soothing along with your narration ❤❤.
You should put the tree on the round table.
hugs to you & theo
omg Chris is a librarian!? I am even more obsessed with him now
Always makes my day when I see you post !!
I love the new editing style!!! Watching your videos is always so relaxing
I originally came to your channel to look at plants, but now I just come here to enjoy how adorable you guys are. This is the wholesome content we all need right now 🥰
That’s exactly how I feel!!
11:16: Oh my goodness! That is the “Dad’s back” dance.
Peppermint oil ....for ants....soak small rags with it scatter around the spaces or room where you see ants..insects hate it...
Use a good strength oil order from health store
3:20: That is the beauty of being in a partnership.
1:14 Is the music from Wind Waker?!
Idk who makes me smile more: u, Chris, or Theo.😊
i didn’t know you also watched Leah’s Field Notes!!! AHH my favourite youtubers
you should get a field note pad and start journaling
Theo is just the cutest! Love your Christmas tree, its a perfect size
This is all so comforting and cute
Those trees are so expensive for my german standards haha, we pay like 40 Euro for the more expensive tall ones
the train ride looks sick🤤 Hope you'll do a video on it
trains are the best
Feelings of burnout/low-energy are quite common in Southern California in the winter. Despite abundant sunshine, the problem is that it rains mainly in winter over there, and water flows in underground rivers beneath the city. These underground rivers induce 'geopathic stress' zones which causes issues for people living above them-from decreasing energy/health and attracting insects.
In the ancient past, dowsers would check for these zones and advise people where to avoid building homes. Fortunately, there are some cheap solutions. People find using shungite rocks help to neutralize the negative energy. Wearing small pendant, or putting a piece hanging on the wall or hidden under the bed will work. If you put it under the bed make sure to put it inside a dog-proof container so Theo doesn't treat it as a chew toy. You don't need a large piece. Shungite can be found at any reputable healing/New Age store.
You should see your energy returning to normal quickly, and the ants will disappear as well.
Hi Benji...first that was quite a dinner soiree you hosted! Was there some type of exotic peppers!? In any case you and your partner host did a fantastic job! Maybe you have the winter doldrums...that's normal for most people! Especially if you live in the Pacific Northwest, like I do and I so hope you and Chris enjoy the Portland area. Your Christmas tree is adorable! As far as the ant issue...you may have to call the professionals, if you want Chris back in the bedroom!(LoL)!
Happy Holidays!🎄 Thanks for sharing!
Just very relaxing
I’m falling in love
i hecking love benjiplant
2:17: beautiful, 2:18
2:40: Impressive
Your house reminds me of like almost ALL the older houses from my childhood here in South Florida but the new ones are really junky shit.
hey benji! love your videos.
i was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you grew your youtube channel in such a short amount of time?
favs
Someone has recommended taking vitamine D pills to me during the winter months, and it has really helped me. Thought I could let you know 😊
I love this episode 😭
benji, can you talk about how you manage youtube and being in a relationship with a pet? i think its quite hard (posting from anon account)
I have killed at least 3 rabbits foot ferns 😂 but currently have been able to maintain a cotton candy fern and hoping it gets through the winter
Ants hate cinnamon--a non-toxic help, perhaps.
How do you pickle the onions ? It looks good
Theo is so cute ❤
A highly effective natural no poison way that is safe for both people and animals, is to sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth around the base boards and doors. Chewy carries it, or a spray product called Mighty Mint is again safe for you and Theo. Those critters shouldn't keep you and Chris from enjoying the bed.
These are the best and only thing that really works for ants, TERRO Ant Killer Liquid Ant Bait Station, but keep Theo away from them. You can google and read about the baits. The ants could be coming from outside or one time they were living in one of my plants I brought inside. You have to put the ant staion in the travel way of the ants, it might take them a while to find it if you don't have a decent trail of them walking to put the bait in. It takes about a week or so after they find it for all the ants to be gone. It works though, they bring it back to the nest and they all die. I hate that, but when they are in your house you have to deal with it. Hopefully it will be a few years before they make their way back in. They may have gotten stirred up when you had your landscape done.
❤
Where did you get your song of india tree?
Can anyone tell me what the song starting around 1:56 is ✨
Tee leaves
have you checked your plant pot for ants?
00:47-00:49: Are those PEONIES?🥰🥳🤩
benji ! what is the exact breed of theo ? pls hes so cute and i love youre vids
You guys OK?
Oh my god the christmas trees that were 60 USD, are like 20 Euro here. You guys are getting ripped off
lol its California
Pleasant and homey; I'm glad for your family too. Gay families have the advantage of members being chosen rather than inherited.
The ants are coming from the fig tree (I love figs and fig trees but yours sound like a pain). Cut the branches so that they are nowhere near the roof or house. Leave ripe fruits and leaves where you want them to go e.g. not near the house walls. Peppermint is a known deterrent, but so is scouring powder with bleach. If you go with the latter, smear a line much wider than the bodies of the ants along contact points, such as deck-to-house and railing-to-house. And around roof gutters. Invading ants are searching your house for food, enemies, and space to colonize. Make your bedroom unattractive to them in all three ways. In Florida and Hong Kong, free-running geckos will eat the ants.
Hello guys, are you gay couple ?
jihao new haircut ?
LOVE bromeliads! Wish I had room for more. Aechmea chantinii is a really cool one:)
benji: "cleaning is nice because it doesn't require mental energy"
me, a neurodivergent with executive dysfunction: 🥲🥲🥲🥲
jokes aside, that dinner table looked beautiful and very creative!!!
I's normal to feel burnout in this time of year!!! Benji rest and slow down (like you have been doing) if needed! I don't speak for everyone, but i have a feeling that your viewers are all awesome sweet people who understand that everyone needs a brake time to time! Love your videos and how comforting they are! its enough to know you doing OK! Rest and thank you for your videos!
What perfect advice! My sentiments exactly:)
Sincerely wondering how someone can go through seasonal burnout/depression while living somewhere where it's warm and sunny all year through
