Yes, I cheated with some. They were "changed" not "off." But this is free content, man. Don't complain.

I turn off: half-pressed AF-C (I use the back button, which is small BTW on the XT2 and hard to feel), sound, preview, large indicators and I also switch to Xena Compression
I am getting turned ON.. OFF! I mean OFF

Personally, I always make sure the “Self Destruct” feature is turned off. I turn it off when I first purchase a new or used camera body, then check once a month to make sure it is still turned off.

Suggest also turning AF illuminator to OFF. That laser-light focus aid upset some rough folks in a pool tournament I was photographing - they asked me to turn it off, and seeing how their tattoos were more elaborate than mine, I did😁. No kidding, true story.

Yes! Especially if you are going to shoot animals. They get spooked by that light rather easily and sensitive animals will become camera averse, always afraid of that light.

As I have said before, but will repeat none-the-less, as someone new to photography and the Fuji system - I am incredibly grateful for all that give of their time and effort to share their experience with others. In the case of Omar, we get that all that and the best show in town. I still think he deserves to have his own Saturday morning kids show 😁

I was thinking the same thing! I also use other software to compare raw editing like on my iPad such as affinity photo and Pixelmator to do editing for Instagram on the go and it doesn’t support compressed raw. At one point I thought maybe I could shoot compressed raw and convert the ones I need back to uncompressed for usability but currently that’s not even possible.

OMG! I have just turned the Noise Reduction setting down to -4 as you suggest and I just cannot believe the difference it has made. THANKYOU SO MUCH. I love my Fuji XT3 anyway but this has just knocked it out the park, but in a good way! I have it set to record Raw and Fine, the JPEGs are SO good I only have the RAW as a back up, perhaps I might want to change the Film Type or whatever, truth is so far I haven't had to do this. Please please keep up the great work, and THANKS AGAIN for this tip, love it!

I wish that there's a setting to customize the 'in focus sound' from just a beep to a sound you can record yourself. Imagine every time it's in focus it sounded 'hee hee' by Michael Jackson or 'it gives you focus' by Emperor palpatine from Revenge of the sith ...

I've been having issues with my XT-5 (different than my XT-3) for a year or so and couldn't figure out why. I'm an industrial photographer who shoots in many industrial settings like ship and Rail Road yards, airplane hangers and filthy manufacturing locations. Mostly on a tripod and nothing moving, so auto focus not an issue, unit I got the XT-5. I just updated my firmware which took care of the screen blacking out. But focus issues and with my focusing spot location moving every time I turn on the camera. This video and what to turn on , was a tremendus help and love your presentation.
I've been a professional commercial photographer since 1970 shooting film and large cameras. but once we went all digital, I was completely lost learning software and how to find stuff hidden inside a bazillion menus. Omar truly is a great help and appreciate his feedback and willing to give his point of view. I'm heading to the Pacific North West and worried about my XT-5 not performing like I am used to with all my other Fujis. Now I feel more comfortable after trying some of your suggestions.

i must admit, one of the many good reasons i keep coming back to your videos is that know i want a fujifilm camera for travel, X100V or something to that effect, but! i'm a little worried about the relative incompatibility when it comes to Fuji raw files and Lightroom, (wormy artifacts etc), and i've tried out capture one, which seems to do a nasty number on my pc's overall perfomance even when it's not open for some reason.

Thanks Omar! I have also learned that turning Flicker Reduction ON would introduce a lag to my shots so that my X-Pro3’s Burst Mode only peaks at 5.7fps using the Mechanical Shutter and 10fps using Electronic Shutter. Took me ages to find an answer online! 🥵

I prefer auto focus sound off as you and many have recommended. However, recently I watched one of your older videos on how to use the X-T20 (my personal camera) and you demonstrated that the AF was slow on the X-T20 and the green light came on before the camera was focused; thus some of your photos were not in focus.
Your solution was to wait for the sound (which came on slightly after the green light) before snapping the picture. If you waited for the AF to beep all your photos were focused. What am I missing?

It took me awhile to figure out how to utilize the last tip (about setting the AF Mode to ALL) and then somehow toggling through the options. Here's the key: Press the Joystick In, and then rotate either of the dials. IF it still doesn't work: Go to Wrench: Focus Level Setting, and make sure that PUSH is set to "Edit Focus Area."
    Then you're golden!

I've turned off my touch screen years ago on the X-T20 and now the X-T30. I have my left eye to the viewfinder and my nose would always bump the screen. Consequently, the focus point would be off onto the back 40. Ruined an afternoon of street shooting. Been off ever since.

This was very helpful. I bought a Fujifilm X100V two months ago and kept getting these smooth looking out of focus shots. I think it had to do with the Noise Reduction. Also, I turned off Face/Eye detect after realizing it hinders any other metering mode. I also cut off Long Exposure NR because I tried shooting all Auto at night and I think that ruined most of my shots. I also turned off Natural Live Review. I don't understand the point of that setting. I hoping my next photos are much improved or I am selling the camera.

I just read an article on the Phoblographer website that says the turning on exposure preview can negatively effect auto-focus.

I haven't deliberately experimented with that but it kind of makes sense: "exposure preview" could perhaps also change the aperture, and with smaller aperture the AF doesn't work as well.
However I'm not entirely sure that it really does that, when you half-press the shutter you can see the DoF changing.

Omar, recently the preview screen stopped rotating the images. I would take a photo, look at it, and if it was portrait it wouldn't rotate and fill the screen, it used to, but I can't figure out the setting to make it go back to that? Any ideas?

Omar, thanks for the educational videos....very helpful for beginner photographer. One question, what setting do you use for automatic sensor cleaning? Turn on or turn off? Thanks.

Any help? Just received a used Fuji xh-1 .. I’m pressing shutter button, no photos taken, anything I’m missing in control menu? I have it with a sigma lens Nikon to Fuji x mount? Thanks Adam

Hi, I just bought the XF 80mm macro. I need it for my work. It would be good if you could do a video on that.

Toot-tooting my own horn but I'm glad that I already had most of these taken care of, I'm on the XT1 still and I was like dang my noise redud only goes down to -2, cripes! I have my eyes set on the X-Pro 2, I can't wait to find the right deal on it. But I'm in no real hurry. I'm blown away, and away again with the fine/raw quality coming out of this 7 year old sensor and processor. I can wait to breakthrough the X line of cameras like I'm on the Fuji Varsity Photog team! I shot all state *some type of jock-o bro grunt noise of affirmation*!

The only scenario for turning off preview white balance and exposure is for using manual control for flash in dark environments.
