    Working at a Maserati dealer… i’m OBSESSED with these. They took the Giorgio platform and improved in every single way. These things get LOADS of tech as well and the quality is a monumental improvement with unique switchgear finally. Super hot and lots of interest as well AND this interior will make its way to the next gen Levante, the new gran turismo and others. (it does have stelvio side mirrors though 😅)

    My family had a fun discussion about "blinker" versus "indicator" at the Christmas table. My mother was appalled that my brother, who has lived in North Carolina for a few years now, has started to say "indicator" instead of "blinker", as was commonly said in rural South Georgia. I always said "turn signal", for some reason. The whole "BMW-style" stalk thing doesn't really bother me. That's how it is in my IS 350, and I got used to it pretty quickly. Though, I do like a nice, clicky indicator stalk.

    I'm very impressed with this model looks very attentive to the details, although I do still see some switch gear from other less expensive products but not nearly as bad as early Ghibli's. Sure I do think they should have used a detuned 3.0tt vs a inline 4 for the price point of $90k, but it does seem to be very capable. Also I'm glad you all get the satisfactions of a fast moving CR-V, because here in Tn every one of them on the interstate is barely doing 70 in the far left passing lane with 10 cars behind them pacing a semi. For us its the Altima or a Sentra as I work fairly close to Nissan HQ and Plant in Smyrna.

      Even an NA version of the Nettuna V6 engine would be much better and it would sound like an Italianized version of a VQ37VHR. If I designed a compact luxury crossover a 330+ NA 3.5L V6 would be the base engine and the optional engine would be a 520+ hp 3.0L twin turbo V6, or just scrap the ICE altogether and make it an EV with fake twin turbo V6 sound with gearshifts. I would implement an infotainment system that is just like an Infiniti G37 with similar physical controls but just a bigger more modern screen and modernized UI.

    I know what I’m about to say is to do with the Trofeo version of the Grecale and not the Modena, but I believe one reason why the MC20’s Nettuno V6 was detuned for the Grecale Trofeo (523bhp instead of the MC20's 621bhp) was because the MC20’s application of the Nettuno was thought to be a little too peaky and high-revving for an SUV, hence why it was detuned to better suit a car like the Grecale Trofeo, though there may also be other reasons why as well.

  • @Chironex_Fleckeri
    @Chironex_Fleckeri ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm going to sound very critical but I am happy to see this car made. I think the only problem with it as a product is the price point. I could get into why I think it's financially necessary to charge even beyond the usual Maserati tax. I'm not opposed to this concept of paying for a unique experience. Example of this: Nintendo does this as a core part of their strategy and people don't get mad at em. Big margins are needed when sales volume will be low. It still costs a LOT to develop a car like Maserati did here. And I'm glad to see that it even exists and they didn't do what Aston did in the early 2010s. It was so hard to justify the price of some of those Astons unless you really loved the car. It was niche. Glad they've gotten the budget to build new designs.
    The hard sell is the powertrain. If these were priced differently, I'd be trying one out. But as it stands, even a Nissan Altima can ship with a lot of tech features that companies used to consider luxury. How do you make a screen more luxurious past a certain point? There is no perceived value in the infotainment party tricks genre anymore, not like BMW and everyone else was racing to add profitability and distinctiveness to their designs. That was 90s-early 2010s and we are never getting back the way each company approached these luxury technologies was novel if not a bit of a gimmick. But at $92k the market adjustment will instantly put you upside down. These should be $60-70k tops in the category they're competing in. The interior costs and whatever quality improvements they made may make this thing a pretty reliable car, but I think on The Price is Right I'd say the 500hp 6cyl. FI Trofeo would be the one carrying a base price around 92k. Part of Maserati and Aston Martin's ability to survive is just their brand image. If Alfa tried to charge 92k for a 2.0T Stelvio they'd be begging people to take them off their lots.
    Just saying I don't think this is very competitive at $92k, Maserati tax (which I am more than willing to pay for the experience, but I don't see that reflected in this). This is like a Kia Sorento with indications its made for an older demographic of buyers. I guess with the price of things like a simple mass production pickup truck that sells hundreds of thousands of units a year being marked up significantly above MSRP. Maybe I'm the one out of touch with prices, but a Macan GTS or Stelvio QV seem more sensible options for the majority. I think they got the exhaust wrong on this vehicle and that's why it doesn't get the Maserati Pass on price tag. It's okay to fashionably overpay for something. This is an Italian take on luxury and sportiness that I think put itself in a spot where it's a great car that cost them a lot to build. They've caught up to the pack in a lot of ways by looks of the interior. Buy this if you really want to help Maserati finance their more exciting offerings on the promising platform they've built here. That's pretty much my verdict. The niche Maserati once held has been taken by Alfa Romeo with the gold they struck that is their new platform. Hopefully Maserati can make improvements to this because I always like to see more competition and options. I wouldn't buy one but I wouldn't knock anyone who wants to treat themselves. It's a good showing for Maserati if they can bring costs down. Otherwise they're ending up in this weird territory where a lot of American car brands were tiered. You'd have a Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac, etc. all sharing the exact same platform and just tarting up a design. Maserati is updating to the 2020s and it looks really fresh inside. The Ghibli was a letdown for me but it was enough of a success because it was a Maserati. But hey, no one gets mad at Chanel for selling a fragrance bottle at a 95% margin. It's just part of the business of luxury.
    Most people with the money to buy one of these are going to be aware that it will be very expensive and lose value like any mass production luxury vehicle.

    Maserati said a couple years back they were going after Porsche and volume. They have to sell cars and not cars only a few rich guys drive twice a month to play golf, cars that the masses with a good salary can afford and will rack up miles with. Normal usage. This will be a very good alternative to the Macan and X3.

    I wished they went with at least an NA version of the Nettuna V6. It is possible to make a 3.0L NA V6 that produces over 300 hp with a passive pre-chamber. However, I do admire the Ghibli. I've sat in a 2017 Ghibli and those seats are so comfortable. More comfortable than even the squishy 2000s Lexus seats.

    You have literally answered all of my questions🎉🎉. I was curious on how it would compare to the Levante and it seems to be a pretty nice upgrade from it. Maserati have been good at making this car up to date. Buying a Maseratis like a levante or ghibli etc had compromises over German rivals for the same price, however this at the moment is probably the same, if not better in terms of tech and design then the base Cayenne with around 340hp I also agree with you on the power terrain, it is a bit low for the price point. There should also be another engine choice in my opinion, 300hp or 330hp then UP to 530 ish is a massive jump. Maybe there should be a lower powered V6 NA? or a 4 cylinder hybrid to go inbetween with around 400 ish hp. Thanks for the amazing video man, this in trofeo is probs my favourite suv atm.

ALFA and Maserati are 1 price point too high to begin with; however, with that said, this looks more in line with what a Maserati 'should' offer and not what's found in the Ghibli. Yes, "exclusivity" is part of the price, but it should be only a small part. 90% should be in the feel/looks/comfort (tangible things) and less so on intangible things (exclusivity, parking lot points).

    DSG farts and a forgettable crossover body. I hate these trends

    It feels cannibalistic. Why buy a Stelvio when you can get the superior Stelvio, or why buy the Maserati when the Stelvio is the same car (sans hybrid)?
    Okay, these questions would make sense within a reasonable price range but the difference is IMMENSE between both cars. So what are they trying to accomplish? No one will spring an additional 20k, but customers will feel swindled (I know I do, I feel like Alfa / Maserati/FCA value me less as an owner by taking my product and making it better) and people on the fence will feel turned off.

    I’ve had mine for 5 weeks and it’s been in the service center for 3 weeks of it. It may look good but the execution is awful. So many things just don’t work properly. I do have a little buyers remorse after spending 2 weeks driving it.

    I dont think that this car is worth it. Engine sound in 6,5 K ? What the heck dude. This doesn't sounds good. Anyway before 6,5 K pretty nice sound for 2.0, but still i cant accept this engine for Maserati. Anyway the design of the car is pretty boring, it looks like kia sportage ...
