Alpha and Omega is a 2010 American 3D computer-animated adventure romantic comedy film directed by Ben Gluck and Anthony Bell. Starring the voices of Justin Long, Hayden Panettiere, Dennis Hopper, Danny Glover and Christina Ricci, the film was written by Christopher Denk and Steve Moore, based on a story by Moore and Gluck.

"Romantic characters being ROMANTIC with each other is Romantic..." Amen bro. A freaking men. Can we retire or at least reduce the whole toxic nagging arguing 24-7 means legit chemistry? It is so not and even kinda loosely bad as a message really, depending how actually mean spirited the characters are.
It's a mystery why that cliché keeps happening across all forms of media. How did it even kick off in the first place, and what's the appeal?
@@StacheHand I'm guessing the thought is that if two characters are too romantic with each other, they can't stretch the commencement of their relationship over the rest of the movie. Conflict keeps the viewers engaged, and it can be difficult to make a romance with conflict when the people involved just click.
That said, it is merely difficult, not freaking impossible, and this movie could have easily pulled it off. Have the two leads love each other from the beginning, but Kate still has to marry Garth because, well, otherwise the two packs will be at war. Then when Humphrey and her get carted off to the other park, it starts coming to a head. For Humphrey, he knows the right thing for the pack would be to take Kate back to she can marry Garth, but on the other hand he doesn't want to see her marry someone else, so he starts deliberately dragging his feet and slowing them down. For Kate it's kind of the same, but she leans more towards doing her duty rather than what she wants to do, so she is the one who is insistent on them returning, even though she'd rather stay in the wilderness with Humphrey.
There we go, romantic conflict without the two leads having to annoy each other. Basically, it boils down to "doing what is right for the pack" VS "doing what you actually want". Everything else can basically play out the same.
Preach. I think the people who write these relationships need to learn the difference between constant arguing and couple banter.

It also wasn't an innuendo, or at least it didn't actually say sex. It's SFX which animators have a history of hiding in movies.

Even after watching this review i have my doubts about this movie existence.
My parents rented this movie for the children of their Bible study group because they thought it was God related. It was because of the verse that said "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end." We watched it in my room. By the end the girls were sobbing while the boys were cry laughing at the tropes we had seen a million times in the movies we watched with our little sisters. We didn't even know the definition of tropes back then. I kinda remember this movie fondly. Not because of the quality by any means but because it brings up memories of times spent laughing.

I was ready to hate and laugh on this movie, but a few characters were actually okay and the mom character is an A class mom not even every real life mother qualifies as. Telling her daughter to kill the dude if he tries something creepy? Attacking a weird dude who talks about "repopulating" with her daughter? Goals
Chari Mahariel I thought turning your daughters sex life into a commodity to be bought and sold by a parental figure was the dads job!

@@anna48792 He has done the cartoon one a lot but surprisingly I don't believe Critic has done the other Avatar yet. So I'm interested in hearing his thoughts on the movie.
Personally, I think the reason the movie was so successful was for its new technology and 3D rather than its story. Not to mention that tickets were inflated since 3D was "How you were supposed to watch it"
But it's been so long since I've first seen the movie, so I'll reconsider when the review comes out next week.

It's odd that even with that 2-legged dance scene, it wouldn't feel like a DevArt movie if they took away the human haircuts. Every anthropomorphic animal has lil hair tufts or markings mimicking hairlines, but a full bob or bangs over one eye somehow triggers my fight or flight instinct. ...Or that could be the animation.
Yeah. I think anthropomorphic art can be pretty cool a lot of times, but that's one thing that has always blocked me out of "that" community has been their obsessive need to throw the weirdest, and sometimes most emo hair styles over furred animals. I can still remember seeing this really cool steampunk wolf thing that seemed more badass than anything else at a first glance, then you see the clearer pic where there's a one-sided black emo bang hanging over half its face and its just like... a massive stain got molded into the whole thing. Well, this movie just went crazy with that awful concept, and now it just looks hideous across a good few of the characters. ...though there is something easier said about those that go overly cartoony with it. When you can barely recognize they're even animals like Rocco's modern life, then it really doesn't matter who has hair.
Yeah, I also think the haircuts look awful on those designs. This kind of stuff only works if the „hair“ looks like it’s part of the fur rather than a separate entity, with horses being the exception, for obvious reasons.
I honestly have no idea why everyone hates DA so much. When DA first came out, people liked it now out of nowhere people hate it! I'm so confused!? What exactly happened and what the *_hell_* did I miss!?

Some people just don't know how to draw what they want. Don't be mad at the hairstyles and what the person wants on their character(s).
If you wanna be mad then be mad at their terrible drawing skills and not being about to incorporate it perfectly.
I don't see a problem with it. Honestly I like some "deviantart "emo" hairstyle" wolves once in a while. I mean if a bunch of normies and anime fans can have their thing legally, then some furries would like this too.

I think one of the worst tropes/cliches is when a couple has no, or worse, bad chemistry, and are still forced into being a couple by the narrative.

HTTYD had a large budget by a major studio. A&O had a small budget by a studio know one knows of. (And they eventually went bankrupt) So when u see it in context, A&O could have been way worse. It was made my some of the same people who made the Swan Princess and the Fox and the Hound

Fun fact: The whole “Alpha/Beta/Omega Wolf” concept is bullshit in the first place, based on flawed research. In fact, the author of the original research paper on it retracted it in later years because he realized that his study was wrong! But people had already popularized the idea, so it’s still a common myth.

Alejandro Alvarado maybe...when he randomly met Dennis Hopper in a restaurant. Hopper refused to sign his cleavage, so he’s held a 20yr long grudge against him.

I remember REALLY wanting to watch this as a kid but never being brave enough to ask my parents. Now I'm glad I wasn't.
Same actually, I loved wolves when I was in middle school and me and my cousin were going to see it but never did for some reason.. Man I wonder what we would've thought it we did lol
I remember when this movie came out on dvd my now ex fiance found out my spirit animal is a wolf and she happened to be part Cherokee. So we both suggested playing this movie on movie family night when her parents came to town. She and I just looked at each other once the movie got to the wolf dance scene when the wolf made that provocative sucky sucky gesture and immediately apologized to her dad. All he said was he was actually enjoying the film and wanted to borrow it. All he said was looked like someone laced their peace pipe with something strong and really had a spiritual vision.

My brother and I watched this with my niece at random when she was a kid. We all kinda sat in stunned silence for the entire duration.

The fact that Doug praised Lily & Garth’s romance - the 1 thing I truly ENJOYED about the film, that really made my day ☺️
I have a soft spot for this movie. At the time I watched it I could tell it was nothing great but I still always had a good time watching it. I love wolves and am surprised they don’t get more animated movies. Back when I watched it I actually remember thinking that the character development for Kate and Humphrey was pretty good. Maybe I’ll have to rewatch it but I really enjoy the characters in this franchise. I think that’s a big reason why it has survived. It’s pretty much the only reason I’ve ever watched any of the sequels; I enjoy seeing the characters. Most of the sequels are pretty awful, but I like seeing Kate and Humphrey having kids now.
Same, I respect the fact the pups exist, cuz I think Stinky Runt and Claudette are cute, just my opinion, I don’t respect the fact the SEQUELS exists, I pretend the sequels never happened, but Stinky, Runt, and Claudette still exist and they live with Kate and Humphrey

Wolfwalkers is a 2D movie and it has wolves in it, I haven't seen it yet but its supposed to be very good

Ratatoing is a pretty weird movie, but I’m sure the Nostalgia Critic won’t review that because it’s an obvious rip-off.
Also, Trolland is another obvious rip-off and it is way worse than Foodfight and Ratatoing.

It's funny, I remember seeing a trailer for this movie years ago and even though most of the "sexier" scenes weren't in it, the first thing I said to myself was, "This movie was _definitely_ made by furries."

Oh my god, bless you for making this video, it's one of my top favorites back in the day. Wolves are either my first or second favorite animal next to foxes, also I won't lie, I kinda had a crush on Kate.
Edit: Kate's mom worries me but at the same time, that's exactly how I am when I get vengeful, also hate you for pointing out those wolves' dance move, I can never unsee that, Furthermore, the howl scene with Kate and Humphrey made me get teary eyed, her apparent death however, tore my heart out.

I remember watching this as a kid and being confused when they said an alpha and an omega weren't allowed to mate, but Kate's parents appeared to be an alpha and an omega. Kate's sister is an omega meaning at some point they DID mate. Maybe I'm just missing something, but I just never understood that.
Kate's and Lily's parents are both alphas. Alpha + alpha can equal an offspring that's an omega, just like omega + omega can equal an offspring that's an alpha. Their classification doesn't have anything to do with DNA, just the personality the wolf has, I believe ^-^

Honestly as a very little kid, this was actually one of my favorites, please don’t judge. And I can’t believe it took me this long to see all the hidden weird and potentially dirty stuff in this movie.
Makes sense, as most adult innuendo in this would probably fly over young kids’ heads in this.
(Many kid shows and films sneak in a few jokes for the parents and adults so it really isn’t anything that new).
But man, I remember 15 year old me being quite surprised when the adult jokes came up in the theater.
I remember a few adults laughing a bit though at the dirty dancing scene as well as the bra scene.
I did laugh too, but I had to also do a double take because I couldn’t believe they actually snuck those in a PG film. LOL
5:57 The movie reviewer Bobsheaux would really love that Alpha and Omega sequel.
My favorite part about that Mufasa edit was that it just happened and there was no narrated segway. It was so much funnier.
