    • @BioYuGi
      @BioYuGi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Yeah. They kept saying movie snacks, instead of 'movie theater snacks'. But there were... inconsistencies in their logic? If you're having a movie at home, you can keep the lights on, you can turn it up, you can clean up a mess, you can pause it, so there's no time rush. So a snack can be messy or loud. But if you're in a theater, then you need your snacks quick and ready-made, which none of theirs really could be.

      It genuinely sounds like it should be a word anyway like it sounds like it should be possible to find it in a dictionary or something 😂😂 I’d be happy to just trademark the word to the channel to be used when the normals want to describe something they feel is out of their skill set 😂😂 it typically comes from Mike when he’s either watching a demonstration or reviewing something that has been prepared prior to the reveal because he quite often will make some sort of remark about the dish being very ‘cheffy’ either in terms of the spicing or seasoning or marinade in the dish or the selection of ingredients used that wouldn’t often be considered to work together on one plate but have been expertly manipulated so they’re cohesive on the plate, like when Ebbers challenges himself to produce a dish that incorporates the best parts of a protein like pork or beef with something untraditional like an exotic fruit like mango or task himself by forcing rhubarb to be included somewhere within the dish 😂😂 I understand why Mike says it because no normal would ever think to combine some ingredients that chefs do successfully because their expertise, knowledge and training gives them the confidence to execute the thought in their mind that a normal wouldn’t have and so often it’s those abstract combinations that add an additional element to a dish that take it up a level which makes it a ‘cheffy’ dish because it is a calculated risk that has worked in their favour

      I also am a huge fan of Mike, but this time my opinion is - Barry's first place, than Mike's and than Jamie's. To me personally the argument that Mike's dish is less messy is not valid. Everybody who have eaten nachos at cinemas know how messy it could be especially if you are eating in the dark. If there were so easy to eat and the hot dog needs utensils then why Ben used a spoon for the sauce :D :D

    • @MaZEEZaM
      @MaZEEZaM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@slavslavov6288 I think Ben only used the knife on the hotdog so he could divide it up so everyone could try it. Given how much the toppings were above the roll it would likely be very messy to eat.

      @slavslavov6288 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@MaZEEZaM Thank you for pointing out that. Maybe initially when I watching the episode I missed something. As a result I re-watched it and Ben clearly states that Barry's needs a knife and a fork and it is not a handheld, easy movie snack. Exactly that is the part I do not agree and that it is controversial. Mike's is messier since you have waffles that crumble sprinkled with nachos and spring onions and on top of that a bowl with messy sauce. It is more difficult to prepare - you saw how much effort and paying attention it took Mike. Also that it is definitely not a handheld. However points for Mike, because I would never thought of doing that recipe, so his creativity level is off the charts.

    Jamie: popcorn but way messier
    Barry: hot dog but way messier
    Mike: nachos but quieter
    Only one of them actually improved the movie snack as a movie snack! Improving flavor and texture is one thing, but that's not the only thing you have to consider. In the US, on-the-go food is extremely important. We didn't invent sausages but we made them edible while you're walking down the street. We didn't invent burger patties, but we invented taking them with you. We didn't invent ice cream, but we invented the ice cream cone, so you could take ice cream with you without a bowl and spoon to carry - you can eat the "bowl"!
    Barry's dog looks like it tastes great, but as Ben says you almost need to eat it with a knife and fork. That goes against the entire point of a hot dog. You can easily lose the bun and replace it with something else if you don't need the portability, and you can't port this so the bun is extraneous.
    Jamie's popcorn shake, I mean, I love Jamie, I mostly want him to win, but not today. I was so confused by what he was putting together. Buttered popcorn, or even caramel corn, you can eat and then use a napkin to clean your hand and you're 95% good. Chocolate? FRESH caramel? I can only imagine how sticky your hands are getting. And situated on top of a glass of blended popcorn is a very odd choice. It seems so difficult to properly eat.
    Mike's waffle nachos are great. Nachos are great, waffles are great. I don't like ordering nachos in a theater because they tend to be messy and louder than most other things. You get the flavors of American style nachos with the flavored cheese sauce and the flavor of the chips with the waffles. A lot of us make nacho cheese with white American cheese btw, and at home it's really normal to toss in some single slice cheese for the emulsification effect - you can get that without the single cheese by using sodium citrate but most of us have the slices in the fridge already so it's easier. Anyway, I think I would miss the tortilla chip crunch but since this is for movie going, I think it's an all around improvement.
    Mike wins!

    At the beginning of this I thought all of them were being way to ambitious so I'm very impressed with Barry! it would be the one I would want to try the most.
    Mike I feel like would be a hard sell to general audience but would be real reasonable to serve in a theater as long as the cheese can be maid and just wait. making that whole thing at once would be a nightmare for employees
    Jamie's is the most reasonable one out of the lot for actual movie theater food as you can have all the different elements could be set up before hand and would take 5 minutes to make

    • @MrNathansdad

      And yet, Jaime's is the only one I'm not at all interested in trying. Too much fluff, I think. I agree with Ben (& you), that Barry's is the one I'd most like to eat (I mean, duck confit, come on! 🤤🤤), but it'd be so messy

    Wow! Twice in a row I'm thinking Barry was robbed on that. I wouldn't want to try & eat in in a darkened cinema but the hacks for the 10 minute ragù should have won it for him, or at least definitely not last place.
    I usually end up liking what Jamie cooks but I thought it was the weakest this week; sorry Jamie.
    Mike's was good & he got to use that lovely SAGE waffle maker... I covet that machine.

    • @Erunest
      @Erunest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Problem is your second sentence "you would'nt want it in a darkened cinema" - thats the point. As a food itself i agree, that the hotdog was by far the most appetizing (and i don't even like hot dogs that much). But i'd never eat that in a cinema. I'd make a mess all over.
      And the waffles actually looked like the ones that would be more fitting / less messy and still looking tasty (even though i think nachos are messy in a cinemy, especially if the cheese is already on top of it)
      I have no clue what jamie had in mind there. and i have no clue how he came second. Everything was a mess he made. Milkshake... okay i get that. but popcorn in it? How are you supposed to get the popcorn through your straw? Ah you need a spoon? Okay... ice spooning in a dark cinema... sounds... fun (not)
