Different bike from my V-Star 1300T, but great show of how to do it. I just have to adapt a little. I tried another video with a 1300T, but it was kind of a disaster.
Thanks man. Congrats on your new bike that's awesome! Super easy to adjust, on the bottom of the headlight rim you will see two screws, one is at 8 o'clock horizontal & the other is at 4 o'clock vertical. To raise the beam turn the vertical screw counterclockwise and to lower the beam turn the screw clockwise. To adjust the beam left or right turn the screw at 8 o'clock. Hope this helps you out. Takeiteass!
Thanks 💯 and I'm going now to try this on my 2003 1100 but looks the same! Huge help!!! Oh, and I hope your neighbor finally finished cutting the grass..... 😂
Thanks dude. I actually was about to put a light bar and passing lamps on mine and the instructions START with the headlamp assembly already out. Decided to exercise caution first. I like all your vids I've seen!
Thanks for this. I had my bulb replaced on for minutes thanks to you. 2006 Yamaha Roadster Silverado. I opted for the Sylvania 9003 SilverStar Ultra bulb just for the brighter down road that folks in the forums are touting. I just put it in so we'll see.
***** I'll let you know tonight, because for damn sure I'm riding tonight to see how it all worked out. I'm adjusting my idle right now, and I've repaired the cover I took off my fuel pump (busted the cheap tab, but super-glued it back on), so hopefully I'll get a little riding time in among the familial obligations today....
Thanks mate... my low-beam just went on the last leg of trip 1:30am ... not good with trucks spotting me all the time. Needed this vid.. well done and appreciate.... stay upright bro, from Australia
I'm researching replacing my Halogen with a High-power LED. I'm not sure there is enough room in the housing. continuing my quest. :) Thanks for the video!
Cool video brother. You should always include part numbers. I came here lookin for the part number. Don't have my manual w/parts list here and I didn't wanna pull the bulb just to get a p#.
Do you have a video on changing out the lights with LED lights? I was wanting to replace my bulb with an LED on my 2006 Yamaha 650 VStar. Would it be as easy as that or would I need to get a whole light kit? I really appreciate all the DIY repairs.
Thank you Taralea, happy to hear that the vids might be helping you out. Sorry I don't have a video on that, not to sure about a swap out to led bulbs, I think you may have to change out your flasher relay to make them work properly.
if you only replace the halogen bulb with an LED, the element is not in the right place for the reflector, and your headlight beams wont be focused right. You need to get the entire LED / Reflector assembly - not hard to do. If you just want a brighter headlight get the Sylvania Silver Star H4 bulb - its twice as bright on high and low, and it doesnt draw much more power - its plug-and-ride. they cost about $20, but thats less than an entire LED replacement.
I always test it works before putting the screws back in, just my luck I would have a dud bulb, yes I've bought a new bulb before and it's already been knackered, the problem comes when you try and get your money back or a replacement, as they don't normally believe that it didn't work out of the box. Ride Safe Buddy
Hey bernbo you should do a video of how to shorten the length of the clutch engagement. Only a suggestion and your videos are pretty great btw. I have an '09 which i have a video of the exhaust on here you should give it a peep
thanks a bunch... so simple after seeing the process. Any video on changing passing lights? i bought my vstar with the lights already added and I can not for the life of me find out where to get a replacement sealed beam. Also, any suggestions on a really bright bulb to replace the headlight with? My low beam, when it worked, never was really bright enough for me to see more than like 5 feet at night
Christian Stern Sorry no videos on passing lights as of now. As for your headlight, it sounds like it's out of adjustment. Here is a link that may help you out. www.ehow.com/how_5852411_adjust-motorcycle-headlight.html Cheers!
Thank you. Very informative. Any video or hints on how to adjust the headlight beam aim? Manual was not very helpful - just states that if this was needed, to take it to a Yamaha dealer for them to adjust?
LOve the videos. I just bought my first motorcycle. Yamaha VStar 650 Classic. 2007 with only 360 miles on it. My buddies wife never rode it. Anyway, how do you adjust the aim of the headlamp? Mine seems to be aimed way to low and I can only see out about 50 feet with the low beam on.
Hey Bernbo! LOVE the videos! I am new to riding and if it wasn't for you I would be in debt to the Yamaha dealership! I have the opposite problem, I have low beam, but no high beam. My indicator light on the speedometer does not come on when toggling back and forth between high and low. Fuses are good. Is it a bulb or do you think it could be a switch? Again..thanks for the videos!
Matt Main Hey Matt, Thank you for watching, happy to hear you like the vids. on to your problem, It could be the bulb or the switch, You could try the switch 1st it may be corroded and a quick shot of spray with some electrical contact cleaner may do the trick. www.princessauto.com/en/detail/kleens-it-trade-industrial-strength-electrical-contact-cleaner/A-p8180507e If that doesn't work then try replacing the bulb, they aren't too expensive. Hope this is of some help.Cheers!
Hey man, I just bought a 99 V Star Classic. I want to buy a shield and a couple pairs of floor boards. Can you recommend what you use and where to buy? Thank you.
+Simple Designs Sorry man don't have a vid on that, but check this link out here www.ehow.com/how_7608269_change-bulbs-yamaha-star-650.html Hope this helps you out. Cheers!
Quick question please - I have a European spec headlight on my bike and there is a disc right in the middle of the beam, does your headlight have one? because I see in the vid it didn't seem to be there. I'm in the UK and I suspect the UK spec one doesn't have this reflector disc..
have a 1996 yamaha virgo 1100 and cant figure out why the headlight wont work. Tested all the wires and the switch but cant find any fuse box or fuses. Any good suggestions
I am not to sure what it could be but I did a quick search and found this in some forums, Try pulling out on your start button with the key in on position. I ran across this tip when I was just getting my 87/700 restored. I was searching for something else and the headlight was on my list of things that needed to be fixed. As soon as I read the suggestion that this was a common problem for bikes that sat for a while I gave it a try and presto, then there was light. Cleaned switch and lubed button. Been working fine every since. Hope this helps you out . Cheers!
Thank u all for ur comments it was the starter button took it all apart and cleaned it really good and lubed it up and my headlight is working great. Thanks

Just checked it out, you are correct, mine does not have a disc in the middle of the beam.
***** Thankyou very much :)

Just wondering if the same proceedure applies to my 2014 vstar 1300... Replacing the original bulb with a PIAA 70456 antivibration extreme white bulb.
Blackhawk 247 Hey Blackhawk, not sure if it's the same procedure, but it is probably a very close.
*****
OK Bernbo...Thanks for such a quick reply.
Blackhawk 247 Cheers!
I have a 1999 v-star and none of my lights work what could be the problem
Sounds like a fuse has blown or you may have some burnt out lights as well, or combination of both. Could also be a loose connector in the wiring.
Thank you, Cheers!
