    I'm a Mopar guy but the low trim level 57 Ford's with the supercharged 312 are one of my absolute favorite 50s cars. Probably my favorite 50s car other than a 56 Chrysler 300. This car was basically the starting point for the Ford teams stock car's in the 57 Nascar season.

    Love Kermit's enthusiastic running monologue on this 57 F Code. Makes a person more appreciative of the vehicle & frankly is cool too.

    My dad bought a 57 Ford willow green color two door post three on a tree 272 V 8. The color was ugly but was popular at the time. I learn how to drive with that car and took my driving test lucky passed it the first time. The small V 8 had good power. The red Ford above has a 1955-56 hub caps not a 57.

    My Dad had a 57 Ford Fairlane and that baby was rusted out by the mid 60's so this car is in amazing condition.

      The 57 Plymouth was even worse. Those started rusting in a few months!

    ...VERY nice!...and I'm not even a Ford guy....the plain-jane no chrome thing really works well on the '57 Ford... :)

    I once had a 57 short wheelbase 2 door, coolest car and nice, but it was updated with a 351c . I sold it and I often wonder what ever happened to it.

    My grandpa had a full sized '57 Ford like this. I don't think it was the baseline 300, but it was a 2 dr. sedan. His was black/white two tone if I remember right. His also had a 6 cylinder engine. No air, but a radio and heater. No power of course. Just a very basic full sized Ford. The PAINT on this car is immaculate, BTW. Two stage base coat, clear coat perhaps?

      The (Custom) 300 was not the base series. The "plain" Custom was.

    The supercharged Ford's dominated NASCAR in 1957 until they were outlawed along with multiple carburetors and fuel injection. Id definitely take this car over a fuelie 57 Chevy 150 or 210. But I'd take a Chrysler 300 over any other car built in 1957. The 57 DeSoto Adventurer, Dodge Super D-500, and Plymouth Fury and the 57 Pontiac Bonneville and Tri Power Chieftain and J2 Oldsmobile were awesome cars too in those days. The Original American Muscle Car was the 1955 Chrysler 300

    At my age all these cars being called "collectibles", are just OLD CARS, worth a couple thousand dollars brand new, but, I know there are many more billionaires, and, millionaires these days, so, go for it!!

    My dad owned a 57 convertible, two tone blue, 292 with 3 on the tree. Had to give it up when he got laid off from the steel mill. It broke his heart. But... He said it was very fast and had no problem with Chevys but the Oldsmobiles gave him fits. Wasn't any Mopars around, ithink they would have given him trouble.

    Tom, I know you want it, so ... I'll arm-wrestle you for it.💪
    I started as a Chevy guy in GM town. A 1957 as a matter of fact. No fuel injection but it did have the PowerPak heads that were a part of the fuel injection package. My current infatuation is a 1988 Ford Mustang GT that I bought new. It's red. You'd like it.😉

    Looks like base lacquer paint but can really shine when all buffed up and is easy to spot fix. All Ford engine that was a racing engine at the time i believe. I likey.

    How this design ever outsold the 57 Chevrolet will always be a mystery to me.

    • @lostsoul3154
      @lostsoul3154 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chevy went to tubeless tires in '57 and many prospective buyers were afraid of them.

    • @craigjorgensen4637
      @craigjorgensen4637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason Ford outsold Chevy in 1957 was because Ford sold a LOT more station wagons then Chevy did! Chevy’s station wagon numbers were pretty dismal compared to Ford that year. In addition Ford introduced the Ranchero that year. It took a lot of scrambling by Chevy to produce the El Camino two years later.

    • @josephg41
      @josephg41 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to not like the design of the '57 Ford. That was before I saw one in person and before a rare and very high option '57 Ford "Skyliner" Retractable Hardtop practically fell into my lap. If you haven't, you need to see one of the '57 Fords in person, particularly in Fairlane 500 form. There's different, more agressive fins, different trim, and a significntly different roofline on a Fairlane 500 vs a Custom or Custom 300. Today '57 Fords are criminally under represented, escpecially against the '57 Chevy. Still i don't think they look as good as the '57 GM cars, but Ford was lightyears ahead of Chevy with their engineering of the Skyliner and this supercharged car. I belive these two special '57 Fords (let alone the Ranchero) went a long way to drawing in customers even if they just ended up buying a bare-bones base model Ford.

    • @michaelbenardo5695
      @michaelbenardo5695 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it was brand new from road to roof. The 57 Chevy was a face lifted 56, which was a face lifted 55. It was shorter, taller, and narrower than the 57 Fords
