That's probably the nicest 57 Fords I've ever seen.
Totally love everything about it !
Thanks Scotty
Another Beautifully done Ford custom. Scotty is the man when it comes to bringing the public Super-Trick hot rods...hands down the best in the business. Thanks Scotty
I would take the 57 Fairlane over a 57 Belair anyday!
Me too. I like the lower trim level 57 Ford's like the Custom and 300 series better than the more upscale Fairlane's. They had cleaner styling than the Fairlane in my opinion
I'm a Mopar guy but I love the 57 Ford's...especially the factory supercharged versions. Most of the supercharged 312's ended up in T-Bird's and Fairlane/Custom 2 door sedans. But there was even 2 supercharged Ranchero's and 1 supercharged 4 door Fairlane(which was originally ordered by a North Carolina moonshiner) that were built. I think there was only a total of like 50 of those supercharged 312 Ford engines built in 57. They were Ford's first true muscle car. Ford rated them at 300 horsepower but theyre rumored to make 340 horsepower...more than a 64 GTO with a 389 4 barrel. Really the 55 Chrysler 300 was the very first muscle car in my opinion. The Chrysler 300's dominated NASCAR in 1955-56 and the supercharged Ford's dominated in 57 until Chevy cried and got the blown Ford engines banned mid season. Several very good performing cars came out in 1957 from all different manufacturers... Fuel injected and dual quad 283 Chevy's, Injected or Tri Power 347 Pontiac's and 371 Oldsmobile's, Supercharged 312 Fords, Hemi powered Chrysler 300's, Dodge D-500's, and DeSoto Adventurers, and the Plymouth Fury with the 290 hp dual quad 318 or the 305 hp 350 Golden Commando engine. These cars were all really the original muscle cars. 1955-1970 is definitely the best era ever for cars. The compression and power numbers started to fall off some in about 1971-1972 because of emissions regulations and muscle cars were totally gone by 1975...when catalytic converters hit the scene. Leave it to the feds to fuck up the muscle car era just like everything else they touch
You guys took one of the most beautifully styled cars of the '50's and brought it into the 21st century. All your modifications look and function so well together. Wish the factory would offer one of these! I love it!
I had this type Ford while in USAF back in the 60's. Never had a vision like this. The hood scoop is perfect. When I first saw it, I thought, oh crap. Often that just looks stupid and bolt on. This one looks like it was stamped out at the factory. Nice car!
interior is just incredible on this beauty,im mainly a chevy guy but cars from 70 and back can be from any car maker and be incredible.
Beautiful 57 Ford Scottie.!!...love that interior Holcomb put together. The man has talent that's for sure. Thanks for the great video!!!
+Ed B. My pleasure Brother...Glad you liked it...As I said everyone really stepped up one this one...
Just came across this video... Absolutely amazing! Yes, I love this car! Glad I came across this!
Always liked 57 Fords they look awesome turned to Hot Rods. He kept this old school Steve hooked up the inside to keep it like that...Ford in a ford 700proof on pump gas..Nice job Scottie Thanks.
That custom front seat is flawless, and u gotta love them dogleg doorways just awsome!
I agree...the car gets over looked because it's so understated...Very cool for sure though..
Any car that Steve Holcomb gets his hands on goes from cool to super cool by the time he's done.
Great car!
+6771Randy lol..I agree..a lot of builds have to work hard to keep up with there interior...
i´m n´all Mopar Guy.. but this is ´n nice 57 Ford i would go with it... thumbs up....
Great Moonshiner love how the door handles match the molding on the outside of the car
I loved my 57 Ford Fairlane 500. I bought it when I was 15 and restored it, and took my driver's exam in it. The guy from the DMV said it was a first for him and he'd been doing it for 25 years.
Beautiful car Scotty! When I was a kid my father had a 57 Fairlane 500 with a 312 T Bird engine. My brother drove the crap out of. I've alway loved them sinse then.
Nice clean car Scottie. The hood scoop looks like it should be there, ya know..... The guys did a nice job on it. I'm impressed. Thanks for sharing this with us all man. Kev
Had a '57 and wished I had never sold it...had a 312 cu in police interceptor. I put a Hurst four speed in it. Great video Scottie
Damn Scottie! That Steve does awesome interior,I would consider it an honor to make the beast with two backs on one of his seats with a hot Georgia peach, lol.
Wow, everything on this car is perfect. Up to date everything mechanical while keeping the style period correct. Really nice job.
Very nice, clean, interior cool, engine to die for. Recognize the wing place from food network. Great find, both. Keep it up.
Awesome-thanks for this one Scottie! My Brothers first car was a '57 with a 312:)
Nice! I think they nailed the "moonshine runner" car. Reminds me of the Burt Reynolds movie "White lightning"
+Tim datoolman It could have been in that movie to....Glad you liked it Brother!!
Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum, I knew it was a runner's car before I read the description.
Fantastic car!
The Perfect Ford Hands Down!! I would have used the original design for the steering wheel and really beefed it up!! That would be it. Love the scoop!!!
An odd duck but cool as hell would love given that a spin around the Tennessee woods or something I have never seen a 57 Ford thanks Scottie
I agree with you Scottie... you don't see too many of these 56 and 57 Fords because the Bel Airs from 55-57 are the most popular ones... but this is one gorgeous car and it has become my favorite car... I love the attention to detail and how it turned out it just looks gorgeous and sound mean too... plus the car is black and that is indeed my favorit color...
A Beauty! My first car was a 1956 Ford cop car picked up in an auction. Please Robert Mitchum, not Meechum. Thunder Road”. A fun movie about hot rod pioneers and moonshiners. I still know the lyrics to the hit song. This car says it all!
Love this car ford in a ford is perfect
The 55-57 ford out look the Chevy’s any day of the week!
ThunderRoad it’s a great movie. It’s the first movie I can remember watching as a kid back in the late 50s.
This car is really cool. Its nice to see someone start with something different,. The car is 'finished', and doesn't look 'patchy', meaning some areas look un-done. Look at the engine and the engine compartment, just awesome! The choice of wheels is also really neat following the 'moonshine runner' theme. It appears to have a standard trans, right? Must be fun to drive with that kind of HP! Really nice, good edition to your 'herd' of vehicles shot, great job!
ScottieDTV I guess the small stick sticking out of the floor fooled me. Can you imagine pushing that thing through the gears with 700 HP?!
I like this car, I am an old chevy lover but omg this car is way nicer than any 57 chev alive.
I had a two 57 Custom black , an old Tennessee Trooper car , I put a 1962 406 - Holman Moody engine ,it was a rocket ,I had it painted Aqua ,popular at that time, I should have left it black . I wish I had it back.
I had a 57 Ford Skyliner Retractable Hardtop with a 390 Ford 4 Speed Manual out of a early 60's Ford Galaxie 500, White in color, when I was in High School, 1971-73 and sold it in 1985. The 57 Skyliner was the best looking year compared to the 58 or 59. I generally left the top up because I did not have a garage and was concerned that the top could get stuck in the down or mid way position.
It's a nice modernizing of an old Fairlane. The only thing I would change is a 5 or 6 speed Stick. I own mostly stick cars, just not a fan of automatics.
Love the car and that look is so cool, the only thing I would do is add the police search light mirrors and put the chrome thing that cop cars used to have on the wheels but it still looks really good 5/5 :)
absolutely gorgeous car. The oil fill cap is drivong my OCD crazy though. It needs to be facing the other direction.
A beautiful car, I’m a Chevy guy but that is a very beautiful car. Looks a bit better than a Honda I’d say
When as a young tender lad of 7 I used to call these Fords 'eyebrow cars'. :-)
i like one these with about 350 hp,700 is insane.
What a lot of people don't know is,the 57 Ford outsold the 57 Chevy if you look at the numbers. The problem was one of the bodies would rust and that's why you don't see as many but the retractables bring big bucks.
I am all in on this one as you sat the 56 57 Fords kinda get lost back then.
Mike
Scottie you come across some of coolest cars! How do you find them? Maaan this car is badazz!
awesome car. kudos for keeping it FORD! narration similar to QVC... 😉
Thats bad ass. I'll take that over a 57 Chevy any day. Actually Plymouth had the best looking cars in 57 and 58 in my opinion. 57 Pontiacs and Oldsmobile's were good looking cars too
Inside is to mod for me but it still looks killer ford in a ford live long and prosper!
this is amazing. this 57 ford is second only to Jeremy Pearson's "Bone Shaker" gasser. but thats just because i love race cars. such a beautiful machine though
Looks like something outta Highway patrol! Lol!
beautiful car. I live in Piggott Arkansas and on May 21st were having our 14th annual rod run if you're this way maybe you can stop by
+garrett pollard Thanks for the invite...Maybe one year...But I can't this one....
Gotta brag...my pop met RM at the Blue Room in New Awlins. Pop stuck out his hand and got a cold fish back so RM was X'ed from his list of liked stars. Pop met singer/dancer Dennis Day (Jack Benny show) in his WW2 Navy days...said he was down to earth and cordial.
That happens....I always try to be a nice as I can....But I'm sure some people would say that I wasn't as cool as they thought I would be...
Love the Car. I can't believe you don't know Thunder Road. All car guys know Thunder Road.
very cool very nice and is it a street sleeper ?
+alberto gorin You might slip it past some....But it still looks like a Hot Rod....and that whine from the supercharger is hard to hide...lol...Glad you liked it Brother!!
There was a great movie made in '58 starring Robert Mitchum about shine-runners called "Thunder Road." One of Mitchum's cars in the movie was a hopped up '57 Ford. Good stuff.
Thunder Road was a '57 Ford Fairlane 500.
In the movie.. he also had a hot rod suped up '50 Ford.. love that movie!
Horrible movie.🙄👎
