I love Kramers explanation of a write off. "Jerry: you dont even know what a write off is! Kramer: Do you? Jerry: No Kramer: But they do, and they are the ones that are writing it off."
Jerry was not only humble enough but also cunning enough to realize the show would be better having his counterparts be the center of attention rather than himself. This allowed exponentially more story lines, personas, and humor rather than stemming from one individual. Seinfeld is seriously the best written show. No other show has been able to weave a storyline and script together in such a meticulous and articulated way.
Most episodes are. Kramer consistently helps other people and even strangers out at the expense of his best friends. Yet he always has a means of getting out of trouble even when it was entirely his fault.

I think he was more disappointed in not being bombed after he and George had the argument over who had more enemies that might want to kill them. He would have really rubbed it in George's face if the package had actually been a bomb. Leo being out of the picture would've just been a bonus.
"The Package" is the same show where Elaine takes a Sharpie and draws angry eyebrows on Leo at his doctor's office. That scene always cracks me up. And the whole vibe is very sinister because the entire medical community seems to have shared information on Elaine which they are all very secretive about, LOL.
