While I was watching this video, the house heating was turned on, Spotify started playing in the sitting room, and I was told it would take 17 hours to drive to Turning Torso !!!
I have a feeling Volvo don’t allow voice assistance so saying “Hey Google” to change driving functions for safety reasons. Because your passengers could say it whilst you’re on the road and change your driving functions without you wanting to. However, simple happy medium is allowing the voice control button on the steering wheel and the driver saying the command to activate changing driving functions because only the driving has access to that.
When I drive along scenic routes in my province (few people live there), there is no mobile coverage, so I assume Android Automotive will not function in those locations, which is why I still use the Porsche GPS navigation as a backup to Android Auto or CarPlay for navigation. I assume the same would happen driving the Dalton Highway in Alaska.
I’m expecting mine EX30 in May or June to be delivered. On the option list i saw Appleplay. Is this not yet available? And will the whole info system be taken over by ApplePlay? I don’t like Google at all. And hoping te get ApplePay. What are your predictions?
Correct, Apple Carplay is not yet available and because of that, it's hard for me to say how it will look. As soon as it lands in april (if everything goes according to plan) I will make a video about it!
Love this guy. Have test driven an EX30 and he is spot on with the testing and things that are bad (and good!). Really weird that Volvo couldn’t do this themselves. The buttons on the steering wheel, for example, just obviously don’t work half the time. FYI if you’re in the UK I found that I had to say “BBC Radio 4” for it to tune into digital and actually play something. Saying “Radio 4” just returned FM static, even after I manually tuned it in and added it to FM favourites.
Try 'Hey Google, Play Radio BBC Radio 4' and then 'Hey Google, Play Radio BBC Radio 4 Extra'. Google does not seem to understand the Extra radio station at the moment.
With Google, you cant turn off anything related to safety features. I think it's related to European standards but I could be imagining that! Oh, good taste in music 🙂
Thanks for making this video. Not enough reviewers go through infotainment when it's literally one of the main things I consider when buying a new car. Does Automotive Play Store also has A Better Route Planner and TH-cam Music?
Currently, ABRP is not there, I would assume it will come soon. I am not home at the moment so can't check for YT Music but I don't think I've seen it. Should also be a matter of time though.
Well, it’s a kind of pity that Volvo missed the chance to insert more commands to steer car systems. Hopefully some Volvo application developers saw your video and put some more commands into the next software update.
Any chance you can add a few things into a video to explain? Brake use to put the hold on. Switching the car on and then off for leaving the car. Ps: I’m enjoying your content🎉
Not sure what you mean. It is possible to use navigation while using other apps at the same time, like navigate while listening to music on Spotify. TH-cam can only be used while the car is parked.
But what if I don’t like Google and don’t want to give it my private data?? Can I use this car without Google?? Or can I opt out from stealing my private data??
You can ignore the sign-in option but I wouldn't recommend buying this car then. You need to be signed in to Google to get a lot of the benefits with the system. If you don't sign in, you can still drive it but no apps will be possible to use. Google maps will still work even if you are signed out. But again, I would look for another car.
Probably depends on market and language. I tried the voice commands at my local Volvo dealer and it understood a lot more than it does in this video. I spoke in Swedish with the car UI set to Swedish
The car driving functions that cannot be controlled by voice (not just this car) are limited by safety regulations, so you won't see them in the future. You can read about this before you get delivery so you will not be disappointed.

Worth it though. Welcome to Malmö!
haha you're welcome ;)
When he said he was cold, my Assistant told me she was sorry I wasn't feeling well and I should seek medical treatment.
Ordered my EX30 last night. Thanks for posting the videos❤

So it's safer to go in the menus to change the settings while driving ? Hummm no....
@@MisterKaribSome things, like one pedal, shouldn't be changed while in motion.

I will look out for this video. Keep doing this good work. Great videos…
Greatest car on planet earth.
Can you please demonstrate all the various driving Assistant Modes, like the Pilot Assist, Cruise Control etc. Thanks for your great videos.

Super informative videos of the EX30. Thank you for posting these 👍
Awesome video, always wonder what level infotainment has reached. Super useful!

It does have both in my Polestar 2, not sure if availability is cherry picked per vehicle though.

Isnt it possible to download apple music ?
I just got mine. The Google assistant is so disappointing. I hope they push an update through so you can control all the car's features.
How can you rearrange the quick access apps at the bottom of the screen, in your case Spotify, TH-cam, Camera etc
The car is showing you the latest used apps
@@theelectriccarmagazine thank you!
Can Waze plan routes with charging stops, like Google Maps?
Yes it can but the car won't preheat (or precool) the battery for charging if you are using any other app other than the built in Google Maps.
@@theelectriccarmagazine thanks. I hope that Google/Volvo will integrate preheating for Waze.

Any idea if Google Assistant can open / close windows on demand? Sorry if I missed that comment on the video.
Yes, it can :)
@@theelectriccarmagazine and are they independent? Something like “open rear windows”? Appreciated!

You are hitting it out of the park my friend... Please show us how to put the car in "N" Neutral.
Thanks :) You pull the gear lever up halfway and keep it there for 1-2 seconds :)
@@theelectriccarmagazine That's what I hear but I would like to see it done!
Bellissimi video, anche io ho preso una EX30 ( core perche' sono povero ) , ma mi piace come stai spiegando le varie funzioni

How about Apple CarPlay ???
Coming later so unable to show you at the moment
