Hi Dan, you glossed a bit over one of the very interesting climate functions called Parking Comfort. This seems to be something similar to Teslas Dog Mode, I'd be really interested in how it works and what the display is showing once it is on and the car is locked. Do you know something about it?
Can you do a deep dive into the setting profiles that can be saved for individual drivers? What type of settings are saved for each driver? Can you save seat position settings?
Volvo saves EVERYTHING to the driver profile. And I mean EVERYTHING. If it's a setting, it's part of the driver profile. In our XC90 T8, my wife's profile is "Wifey" and mine is "Not the momma!" The car behaves radically different depending on the profile - including which satellite stations it shows (I hid some in my profile, because I don't like them :p)
Hi Dan, very informative video! I didn’t see the “Auto hold” feature mentioned. Is it available? Maybe it’s a part of the “one pedal” drive mode ? I’m very interested in this car and it must be available for me to purchase it.
Hi, has it got its own voice assistant or I need to connect my phone? Can I ask the voice assistant to launch apps like radio, change station, modify volume? Can I ask to pick up a income voice phone call, read or reply to a text message? Maybe while maps navigating multitasking? Thanks
Does the ultra version have memory seats for the pilot ? Some one told me that it has under the big screen adjustment, can someone help with this matter because I like to order the plus version if it doesn’t has memory seats.
Can you have games on it like a Tesla? Downloaded from the Google play store or something? I love the idea of being able to play games on the touch screen while charging.
Both are great multimedia systems and little different …. Hard to say. The one from Renault seems to be more complex and have more functions but i think are similar good 👍
The range and battery info is far too small text. Why not use the wasted space better? For security the Lock/unlock should replace the hazard button as there is a real hazard button.
@@RoadHunterBg thanks for your comments. I really like the interior and infotainment in BMW but not the battery kms range that it shows and consumes. For me size is not an issue, I rather need a small sized yet with a quality build and range. So do you still think BMW can do the battery kms range as the ex30? Which one of them will give a longer and a better kms range for a full charge? Or I have Smart #3 premium also in my mind, would that work better than these two?
No, it doesn't have HUD or driver display. You'll have to buy the more premium Geely sister models, the Zeekr X or the Smart #1 to get a HUD. The Volvo EX30 is the more basic cheap model of this Geely trio.
You should mention that all the 360 cameras are existing in ultra version only, which cost around 50,000 euros. Tesla model 3 highland which is famous for the best software, costs 7000 euros less.
You mean the Tesla? The cameras exist though around the car. It doesn’t have the bird view. So what? Still is more spec-ed, more spacious and a lot cheaper. I commented not because I don’t like Volvo EX30. I love it, but Tesla clearly wins, unless you are looking for a very expensive but beautiful small city car.
Yes sure! Whatever everyone wants. I was going for it, but it gets too expensive after a point. But of course people might don’t mind less specs or the size. They could go for the core version with extended battery which still is less range that Tesla 3, but good enough.
Or you can use voice commands. My 2019 XC90 has great voice control and it's antiquated compared to this system, so I'd imagine you can say "I'm cold" and the car will increase the temperature for you.
But I am sure the build quality, the ride quality, steering, reliability, and noise isolation are better than the Tesla Model 3 Highland.

@@kenchan1762 I am not so sure why you are so sure about that... I recently drove a brand new XC60 T6, and I was far from being impressed. The engine noise in the cabin was horrible, and steering was meh. The acceleration was missing completely when you take off. And I didn't yet drove the new model 3, but model Y is far more premium built than recent volvos are. All the plastics in Volvos are squeaky all around. When you make your music loud (I had the premium sound system) it sounds amazing, but also it makes the doors squeak too. Just badly built. And the infotainment is just ok, far from being great. Don't get me wrong, I used to drive an S80 first gen in the past, and it was an amazing car.
Thanks for sharing the info with me. I did the opposite of you. I drove the model 3 before and I also went to see the EX30 in person. Imo I think the build quality of the EX30 is definitely better than the Model 3. As for the ride quality of Model 3, it's equivalent to a Corolla imo, the vibration is intolerable. The noise isolation is also the same as the Corolla, just without an engine. The steering of the Model 3 is the worst that I have driven. I won't expect the EX30 to be worse than the Model 3 in these parts. One last thing, my relative has a Model Y which seems the interior and quality are the same as the 3.
I find the UX quite unmatched.... different shades of grey, rounded vs sharp corners, that top part looks like a random placed informations in that grey part.... why the hell its not black background? looks terrible.
The infotainment comes with 2 possible color schemes; Auto and Dark. Dark is always dark, both in day and night conditions, and Auto is light at daytime and automatically changed to dark at night conditions. So you can choose the one you prefer. The preferred choice is activated in Settings.
I'm sorry, but how is that a responsive screen? It looks less responsive than the first generation iPads. When he presses on the Camera button at 3:50, it takes ~700 milliseconds before the screen even responds. That's slow. According to UX research, it should be 100 ms at most to feel instant.
There are delays when starting the camera system. But that's literally the only time I can see if being less than instant (and is really a common time for that to happen - my XC90 has the same delay). I do see the map view being a bit jittery, but still responsive.
Sorry but I don't find any useful detail information from your video. I wish I could hear something useful from you for some features that are not that self-explanatory.
This car is too unsafe for me! Tesla copy! You need a drivers display to really drive safe! I had 11 Volvos in my life, but this one is a big no no FOR ME. Driving a MB EQE now, WITH DRIVERS DISPLAY 👍.

You were not able to test CarPlay ?
Also I want to know if CarPlay will be CarPlay 2 with all the control of the vehicle ?

Love the HDR. Has the video been filmed with an iPhone?
this is helpful, but still wish there was a front dash display like they added to the EX 90 or at Least a feature to add it on.
Thanks for reviewing the multimedia system in depth! Looking forward to this car arriving in my country so I can take it for a test drive.
Great review. Do you know if you can hook a USB stick to play mp3s? I only se USB C's
Excellent, excellent, excellent!
hi there, I'm thinking in buying an EX30 and is still not available in my region.. Does it have a "sleeping overnight" mode like Tesla?
Does the ultra version have memory seats for the pilot ? Some one told me that it has under the big screen adjustment, can someone help with this matter because I like to order the plus version if it doesn’t has memory seats.
What does the ‘calm view’ look like?
it is great that google copied the TESLA MULTIMEDIA lol.... this is much better and the resolution is also great!.
Can you have games on it like a Tesla? Downloaded from the Google play store or something? I love the idea of being able to play games on the touch screen while charging.
Volvo, TAKE MY MONEY!!!!
Super review of the multimedia system thank you for the good work :-)
Nice review! I'm looking forward to the drivetest!
Can you tell me, which multimedia system is the best: Volvo EV30 or Renault Megane E-tech? Thanks in advance.

Damn. Looks good!

The toggle for lane changing assist looks greyed out. Will it be available in Europe?
Probably not ready yet or regulatory approved
What a car!
Does it have a camping mode?
EX30 vs iX1 edrive, which one to choose and why?
Go for the iX1. The Volvo is terrible with regards to ergonomics. The iX1 is much easier to live with. It's also more spacious.

Ambient lighting in the back seats ?
no
Is that a vapour grey ?
So, final product still doesn’t have HUD?
No, and I think the positioning and layout of the center screen is going to be perfectly acceptable in this particular vehicle.
Cool ….
Your insight and detail reviews is actually helpful to many of us who are interested in this model…

Yep wirelessly too
IS IT BETTER THAN TESLA MODEL 3 HIGHLAND SCREEN AND SOFTWARE?
not of course. I don't see anyone even catching close on tesla anytime soon.
