Wuh??? FYI...........when they first came on the scene back in 1990/91 with their debuting album "Shake Your Money Maker" with songs like "Jealous Again" and "She Talks to Angels".........they were the biggest grossing band that year. It was during the Bush Sr. recession era, and as all of the established big time bands/performers were touring to near-empty stadiums & auditoriums due to severely slumped ticket sales, the Black Crowes soldiered on supporting this album by performing in clubs all over. And this was AFTER they got kicked off of the tour, opening for ZZ Top. Back then, I was damned proud of them for such an accomplishment.......because they were the true underdogs.......who turned out to be the top dogs in terms of profits during that year or so.
If I didn't know that Rod Stewart was still alive, I'd say that lad was channelling his spirit, circa early '70s. This song makes me think of Every Picture Tells a Story.
THEN...NOW I LOVE THE BLACK CROWES! I seen a little bit of them @ Further Festival '97 and I'll be seeing them July 5th....I am just as excited now as I was back then.
Just discovering the black crowes for the 1st time and cannot stop watching this performance! Rock n roll with a bit of soul! What a voice, loving it! Looking forward to hearing more of their tracks! If anyone could recommend that would b great! Thank u!
The first time I ever saw Chris Robinson sing was truly when I knew I wanted to be a singer.... Now if only I were skinny enough to fit into them leather pants he wears lol
best line up of"Crowes there was.I aint queer but i sure love them Robinson boys!! "I got a head full of sermons and a mouth full of spiders" Chris, that says it all!
I REMEMBER watching this on MTV!!!!! This was when MTV started doing more and more acoustic "Unplugged" stuff. Chris & The Crowes were so great before Kate "Yoko Ono" Hudson got to them. Still the best band, hands down, since the Stones. Yeah, I said it....what?
Not sure who's dismissing who. They weren't too angry with the massive MTV play of Sometimes Salvation, Remedy, Talks to Angels, Hard to Handle, Blackberry..and so on. I think their mind set changed after the "hits" stopped coming. Probably a combination of MTV and Crowes mutually not interested in doing business. Great band.
don't you think I want to don't you think I could don't you think I'd tell you baby if I only could am I actin' crazy am I just too proud am I just plain lazy. I've asked myself that question a million times about a girl I like
I love the BC's, but like i said they let me down with their last tour, infact i waited about 15 years for them to come back...they sang Hard to Handle, Angles, and Remedy....cool songs but i can tell you they would have got a better reaction from the crowd if they mixed the set up with more of their old stuff. I know the tour was a promo for the new album, but we are the punters spending our hard earned money...they should accommodate us a little better.
They wrote a heap of shit songs and everyone forgot about them, i went to see them recently and every song was boring, nothing like the early stuff, which is what everyone loved, they sang like 3 of their old songs, i felt like id been ripped off. I was one of their biggest fans too.
Sounds better with Johnny Colt doing the backup vocals instead of Rich. Rich might not be a terrible singer now, but back in the 90's his voice was awful. I remember seeing them on the first tour when they did jealous guy by Lennon, and Rich would sing portions, and it was just horrible. Johnny Colt actually has a pretty decent voice.
Yeah, i don't get the stones, i think the heroin from their breath somehow has leaked into their listeners veins forcing them to somehow think a "pop" band rocks, pop rocks are delicious, however.....i digress
One of the most underrated rock singers
Sorry mate it's been so long for a reply. I think your brilliant for those fine words said about CR. He really is the bloody man!
What? Who's underrated? Even we Japanese were chasing them in 90's, I saw them in Fuji Rock Festival, that was awesome gig!!
