    Such incredible talent in one video, no back up tracks, no audio tune, just perfectly crafted, emotional and timeless rock n roll. What.a legendary performance!

      They put out loads of albums. The push and pull between the two created the music. Plus the solo stuff by both was really good too

    I keep circling back to this amazing live performance. David Letterman gave a LOT of up-and-coming bands their national TV break. He knew the impact of his platform...before it was called a "platform".

    Sucks that bass player Johnny Colt and drummer Steve Gorman were not playing. What a joke. I’m sure they felt terrible about missing their TV debut opportunity. Anton and Will are great but they aren’t in the Crowes! Shaffer I get it as the Crowes did not have a keyboard player at this point. Eddie came along later but ex Allman Brother

  • @stevee231
    @stevee231 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Johnny Colt and Steve Gorman are missing because of Letterman's damn house band (damn good band BTW but c'mon) plus this is pre Eddie Hirsch and the great, GREAT Marc Ford. He is THEEEE single biggest reason why I developed the style of guitar playing that I have. The records with him are timeless.

  • @windaugy9197
    @windaugy9197 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I recall seeing this when 1st run. Never heard these guys before, but I immediately liked them. Early Rolling Stones feel. It was this or their next appearance when Letterman said "they're a great rock and roll band that makes you want to turn a dump over and take home a waitress" paraphrasing, but pretty close. Great groove.

      Oh my god yes!!! I think they shine through more than any other influence. Everyone ALWAYS points right to the Stones but anyone with a more well rounded record collection will, like yourself, hear the Faces first and foremost. I've always hear some Humble Pie in there as well. I think the big Stones thing comes from Rich's rhythm style and him using open G tuning a lot. Very Keith Richards.

      @@supermarionickyt7430 I'm sure it was a sweet deal to have the Crowes agree to have half the band sit it out. Was pretty common for Paul to sit in with musical guests, but his piano was cranked, and he drowned out Rich and Chris in a good bit of the song. And while I always respected Anton as a percussionist, a big part of the Crowes sound is the pure Rock drumming supplied by Gorman! I'm pretty sure the Black Crowes would have been a success anyway, but I guess an endorsement from Letterman and Shafer opened some doors, lol.
