  • Learn how to draw with one point perspective. Use linear perspective to create the illusion of space in your drawings. A horizon line is defined and then one point is placed on the horizon line. Lines are drawn back to the vanishing point to create 3D forms.

One of the best videos I've seen on this subject on TH-cam. Concise and easy to follow, but the big plus is the speaker and how he articulated everything without cracking jokes or making the umms and ahs sounds between words.

The lyrics isn't showing up on my screen for some reason, so I'll just put it down here :)
    Dancing in my underpants
    I'm gonna run for government
I'm gonna form a covers band and all
And back there by the baby grand
    Did Mr. Winter Wonderland say
"Come here, kid, we really need to talk"?
Bear with me, man, I lost my train of thought
I fantasize, I call it quits
    I swim with the economists
And I get to the bottom of it for good
    By the time reality hits
The chimes of freedom fell to bits
The shining city on the fritz
They come out of the cracks
    Thirsty for blood
Just as the apocalypse finally gets prioritized
And you cried some of the hottest tears you ever cried
    Multiplied by five
I suppose the singer must die
    Singsong 'round the money tree
    This stunning documentary
That no one else unfortunately saw
    Such beautiful photography
It's worth it for the opening scene
I've been driving 'round listening to the score
Or maybe, I just imagined it all
I've played to quiet rooms like this before
Bear with me, man, I lost my train of thought

Hi. Thank you for your amazing video of perspective. I just started to paint and always had a perspective problem but after watching your video I think I have a good understanding of that. But I still am confused about the scale of a shape in the painting. For example, how am I supposed to know the size of the ship is right in a seascape painting? Please educate me. Thanks

So does every artist use this method? Or can you eventually just get good enough to make the perspective look correct without thinking about it?

    • @johnnybeaver4093
      @johnnybeaver4093 4 ปีที่แล้ว

They do not. Linear perspective isn't useful for all artforms or approaches, and even where it is, I've known artist who use it, and those who don't. It's a tool to help understand 3D space, and you can use that tool however you'd like.

    • @hatch2273

@@johnnybeaver4093 Okay, thanks. Learning to draw is so hard

    • @johnnybeaver4093
      @johnnybeaver4093 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@hatch2273 Definitely, that's how I felt about it. It comes really easy for some people, and some not so much. That's why this method exists -- to get you moving in the right direction. It'll be important to get this right and expand upon it if you're going in the direction of technical illustration, drafting, or something like that. But as far as art in a general sense goes, just treat it like a sketching tool. It'll help you get the skeleton down on paper that you can then work from.
