I'm trying to draw a building but it is like a c shape on it's side or actually an octagon cut in half. How would you draw the axis not on the x/y lines? Do you just guess it?
18 years old and also dreaming to be a comic book artist and author. These were some really useful tips to get me closer to my dream of being a famous author and comic artist. Thanks a ton for showing this to us for free! I know it must be trouble to do so, so you get a like!
This was great, thanks! Only began teaching myself to draw in my early 40's for some help with being positive with ever growing chronic pain. So mostly flowers and trees and things....but when my son went to Amsterdam a few years ago the buildings and shops are something I absolutely fell in love with so ink and wash is my thing, but I'm horrible at perspective and get super frustrated. I like loose and messy, so not going for total realism at all, but I know getting some key things right makes a huge difference in just the main feel. So thanks for the help!! Definitely subscribed as you have loads of awesome looking videos, so thanks in advance :) Have a great week!!
@@j92so with my drawing? Going ok....but, almost a year ago a surgeon messed up and I'm had to relearn how to use 1 arm, but also damaged a lot of nerves, including half of the one that makes your lungs breathe, it has crushed 1 lung and have been told it's permanent. So,not able to practice as much as I'd like. Thanks though :)
I'm a beginning "artist". I have a really good imagination. I can see shapes (i.e., a dog's face in a slab of granite, etc.) but not so good at drawing that shape. I've been taking a 3-hr drawing class, once a week for a few months and I love it. We have been working on vanishing lines and perspective drawing. I think I'm slowly getting it. Your tutorials are great! Thank you. Since I'm a beginner, I'm not aware whether you have any publications which further describe your instructions.
Thanks for this video! I have never taken a drawing class and am a bit intimidated at the whole process. I appreciate the clarity and simplicity of your teaching style, and am looking forward to learning more from you.
Fantastic presentation..A Huge HUG 4 your generosity of teaching the world your true love of making art...and the art of hand/eye artistic creations. You my good man.....are a true internet treasure. ..and should be supported well....amen..... my art brother......
I respect this man for not only explaining it simple and consistent but also the fact he respects and understand that the majority of his audience are beginners, reminding us that we shouldnt force ourselves to learn the basic but let time do the work..... hey its my opinion you dont have to agree because that's how i feel
Bro just your studio alone the shape and architecture of the attic is such an inspiration!!! So much knowledge and wisdom to be gleamed just from existing and creating art in such a surrounding. Beautiful. I would love to work in a space like this one day rather than a square room studio.
Great video, i have forgotten so much...I got comfortable in my own style and because it sold i was content...now i am wanting to best myself and get back into art and i have forgotten so much i took for granted....thanks for no bells and distracting whistles....
Dan, That's great information for an understanding of vanishing points. The location of all three vanishing points were an arbitrary distance. If you wanted to create a perspective of a known building design as in an architectural case, is there a way to plot the EXACT location of each vanishing point. ie, left, right, top and bottom vanishing points. Cheers, Ben
Great video. Drawing the major part of the structure is pretty simple. Its adding details like windows and doors where i can lose my alignments to vanishing points. Gotta practice
That had to be one of the best examples I have ever watched. Nicely talked through, really clear and concise descriptions of what and why. Well done, and thanks.
I look forward to seeing this series progress. I’ve always been able to make all the boxes in perspective but then if I want to put a round object , person, or pet. lol forget about it!!! Teach me oh wise young sensei. Thanks Dan
I really want to be an architect but we don't have enough budget and money to take that course, and now I'm a Math Teacher, I hope someday I'll be an architect 😊
I've always wanted to draw a city using perspective, like the one in the background in your video. And show all the key places to visit. I'm going to give it a try again. Maybe it will turn out better this time.
A very informative video on perspectives. I've been drawing for ages and even for me it is still difficult sometimes to understand how perspective affects things. The only thing I missed was an application for the 3-point perspective. I had to watch the bit a few times, before something came to mind (looking from a tall building onto smaller ones in town). Amazing work though, well done.
Hello, I really want to watch you in fast cadence / fast frame as you speak and draw at fast speeds. you explain the perspective very well. i love fun perspective drawing teachers.
Hey man, that was masterful! I really appreciate the thought you put into a very well prepared video. I'm a maker/entrepreneur/engineer/artist and I imagine a future where humans fly and cars are grown. A future where quantum computers meets Neri Oxman. I see a future more utopian than most because I see the potential for all the tools now available, more or less, open source. So, I ask, what are the boundaries? Where do you see yourself? A concept artist for new vehicles those that you wear? Wearable vehicles man... wearable. From carbo. Made to make you feel free of a vehicle altogether. Fast and light. Strong AF. Anyway, great work!

whoever created this way of drawing, thank you. Its amazing how they simplified drawing. also thank you Dan
At last, a demonstration of vanishing points I can really understand. Thank you

This was fantastic. I was taught this 30 years ago and couldn't quite remember how to do it. This made 2 point so doable. Thanks!
Thx Dan-- I love the under ten minutes , piece of the puzzle design rather than a long video with Everything in it.

INCREDIBLE! Not only do you explain clearly all 3 vanishing points but you also give tips on how to spot them on the fly!
Your teaching is as good as it gets, Dan. I’ll be re-learning all the basics from you and sharing with my friends. Thank you.

Such a talented teacher that you are. Gracias.

Thanks for the tips. I will use this to grow and improve my drawing channel. It help me quite a bit.

I’m taking architectural rendering in college right now. This video is very helpful.
Excellent! Let's relearn a skill I haven't used in 18 years because I decided i wanted to draw again.
Opens shot with a one point perspective.... Very Kubrick of you sir.
I really want to be an architect but we don't have enough budget and money to take that course, and now I'm a Math Teacher, I hope someday I'll be an architect 😊
You will. Just believe

Fir you for your clear and simple explanation. I now remember the basics of hand-drawing. The CAD drawings have killed that skills
it saves my life for my perspective class
This is helpful thank you and very dynamic and realistic.
Helpful video, I bought the Andrew Loomis on drawing the head and hands, thanks for recommending it.
Fox Smith great! Perspective is something you should also learn because it will feed into the loomis techniques nicely.
Thank you!! I needed a better understanding with the basics. I'm excited for this series
Kevin Smith Love your movies, Kevin.
thanks mate, this is actually helpful in a mathematical perspective too, as I'm working with the projective space at the moment
Rina chan Boardoo but isn’t the word “mate” normally used with the Aussies?
Thanks for Sharing Dear Friend!

Hello Mr. Beardshaw, thanks for your efforts really appreciative..... ready for more episodes Awesome!!!!
