Nov. 22, 1997. The greatest game ever played in The Swamp and one of the best college football games of all time. No. 10 Florida beats No. 2-ranked Florida State, 32-29.
I went to this game & I remember it very Well , when Fred Taylor broke out & ran 61 yards for that touchdown that crowd went Bonkers & I had already lost my voice but I was screaming RUN RUN RUN what a great night that was knowing my Gators won
@@bigwillietheb Bobby Bowden called 3 run plays in a row to minor on the goal line with that offense , the gators had no chance to stop them Bobby lost his mind and our best team never got to play Nebraska
I grew up a Nebraska fan and was quite impressed with the team that season. I have always been very confident that Big Red would have defeated Go Blue if they'd had the chance to play each other. Had there been a true playoff (8 or 16 teams), either the Gators or the Seminoles would have given Nebraska a run for their money. It's a crying shame we never got to see the best teams match up against each other that season. Those games would have been legendary!!
Haha I feel so old seeing this now but I still love it. 3 missed pats, a missed fg, 2 fumbles lost (one for a td) And Florida still beat them 🤣🤣🤣. Go gators !
Absolutely it did. Same thing that hurt Ohio State in 2006. A dog fight game or loss can really sharpen a team up, and make them realize what they need to work on. Too many wins in a row, especially lopsided wins, will make a team lose hunger and focus.
@@scoobtube5746 Ohio State literally played a 3 point game vs Michigan in the "game of the century" I think the game loses its game of the century title considering both teams were blown TF out in their bowl games.
@@packersauburneric3625 Florida would have absolutely destroyed Michigan this year. The Big 10 was incredibly weak that year, with Michigan being the only good team. I’m not sure how Florida would have faired against Nebraska.
@@packersauburneric3625 I believe Florida beat Penn State in the Citrus Bowl in 1997. Both MSU and Iowa were only 7-5 that year. I think UF would have had no problem with either of those teams. :)
yeah that sucks, the record should have really been against Bowden 6-5 & I will explain why the 94 game if the refs didn't start cheating for fsu the score would have remained 31-3 , then there would have been no bowl game in 1995 , the 96 game if the refs wouldn't have no threw a holding call on a Florida touchdown , Gators would have won 28-24 & 1999 if they would have kept that Dillards thief Peter Warrick from playing & also those 3 field goals would have been touchdowns Florida would have won 35-30 possibly 35-23 , but then would have fsu & Florida played in the 1997 National championship

only thing I hated was when Steve spurrier was coach he only beat Bowden 4 times & then the 1 bowl game , Florida should have won in 94, 96, &99 but was robbed by the referees, espically 1996 they had a touchdown but the ref called holding on Florida & took a touchdown back , that score should have been Gators 28 fsu 24
Oh, the ol choke at Doke. We blew a 28 point lead in the 4th quarter and should have lost. I was 14 and it was the fist time the Gators truly made me angry. We were lucky to get away with a tie. '96 with all the late hits, was definitely winnable, but the 52-20 revenge win over FSU to win the national title was perfect. '99 was just not our year. Gators made too many mistakes against one of the best FSU teams ever.
@@LTJA52 ya team FSU really tried to hard and when a person can't play hard for a coach with a good offensive mind then what's wrong ? It means they were misled and gave up
