I find it almost unbelievable that Siskel and Ebert both gave this a thumbs up
It’s a fun movie
@ I don’t hate it either, it’s a personal favourite of mine honestly.
They're Chicago critics smack dab in the middle of Jordan mania. You had to have been there. It's a great kids movie, but everyone within a 200-mile radius of Chicago in the 90s either worshipped or at least acknowledged him as a diety. 😆
6-0 in the Finals!
The thing with these types of mentally ill people who are borderline "geniuses" is that they are also very arrogant. So, in turn it is very hard for them to get help because like a person who's had too many drinks, and believe they are alright drive, they put themselves and others in danger if they decide to get behind the wheel. This was a great movie but totally unrealistic in the classic "Hollywood" way lol. They never would have had a future because he wasn't ready to change. He didn't think he had too. He knew he had a problem, but he thought "the highs" made it all worth it. You can't have an intimate relationship with someone like that. You become their everything, and you can also become nothing to them *Ebert* was correct in his observation of the film, but like *Siskel* said, I would still recommend watching it.
The Trickster was the BEST thing about the movie. They’re just wimps. lol
Simply iconic.
ABSOLUTELY.
A legjobb ❤❤❤
This is a cartoon with a great character. Even.

I’d love a Coach30 style video of modern Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo watching the game film and chewing out their young Bobo/Smart…

Throwing a HB screen at the two with under a minute left is classic Hatin Ass Spurrer! I love it.
I was there...people left in second half. I got the move up. Fred Taylor 200+ FSU next week
Jemele Kelly went to my high school. Not many of us went D1 from there. The only other I played with would be Kyle Bishop an OG for the cocks. People talked about Kelly like he was a superstar for years to come.
For the first time I now see that Scream came from this movie. And Freddy calling Heather is totally Ghostface calling Drew Barrymore and Neve Campbell.
30 years old!!! The thing that sets this apart is that it’s one of the rare horror films that’s fully self-aware And this would set the stage for Craven’s next successful ‘Scream’ series fully taking advantage of the meta self aware humorous approach deconstructing the genre After 6 films that started back in 1984 the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ movies started to change Craven at one point became very upset that they took his original creation and turned it into a joke But with this film and New Line Cinema he finally gets to bring Freddy Krueger back to his roots making him truly terrifying again It’s also a reunion with original scream queen herself Heather Langenkamp playing herself as well as producers Sarah Risher, Bob Shaye, the late John Saxon, and co-star Robert Englund ‘New Nightmare’ manages to stand out amongst the other sequels being it doesn’t connect to any of them and they fully acknowledge that Heather has stayed out of it despite its popularity and box office success The movie is appropriately scary taking its time to reveal this new version of Freddy, Englund does wonders playing dual roles as himself, the makeup effects are astounding, and the writers come up with a massive mythology regarding this slasher villain Tracy Middendorf as the babysitter Julie is so darn likeable that its a shame what happens to her later The score is also effectively scary and there’s a theme of Hansel & Gretel sprinkled throughout creating a sense of dread as well as atmosphere next to more psychological thrills The ending is also the icing on the cake wrapping up this long battle of good vs evil It’s a shame despite the positive reception this ended up crashing at the box office being forgotten But this paved the way for Craven to make a career comeback in horror with ‘Scream’ following two years later and this movie has definitely gotten more attention with time thanks to its meta layered concepts and many callbacks to the franchise, it was more than just the money it was about finding a creative way to justify its place in the series A clever way to blur the line between fantasy and reality in the Hollywood landscape playing with fan reactions plus moral outrage Heather Langenkamp and Robert Englund give it their all falling back into their respective roles and making the rivalry come alive like they did back in 1984 Thankfully it also ended the franchise on a much better note after ‘Freddy’s Dead’ was met with dismal reception while also setting the first template for legacy follow ups Craven succeeds making his famous creation scary once more
"When we talk apocalypse, we talk fires and spires of smoke and screams and wars and horrid clouds of ash and floods. And this is a comforting vision, because it supposes we’re all in it together. But death is mostly something you keep to yourself. In all reality, the apocalypse is likely going to just be you alone in a room with the flu."
I can't believe this is live! Is it actually and not just played over a performance? 😆 It's still so good, despite being totally different from the album version... and I don't just mean how she sounds; there's not a whole lot of background crap from the audience as you'd expect if it was recorded outside of the studio.
@@SculptedThoughts it is in fact, completely live. No lip syncing here at all. Nothing pre-recorded. It’s LIVE!
@@RippedfromVHS it’s so clean of background sound. It’s really great. She has an iconic voice.
Cool video! Just like the old times, even! 😂😂❤
🙏🏼 hands down to you
Reminds me of FAITH by The Cure.....
I'm so happy Ebert mentioned the scene which is my favourite ( I should've) when the two characters meet and just stare at each other and you understand they are doomed.
Leslie Caron, the wonderful actress, appears in a small part and doesn't get enough credit but she should - her character sees everything and her warning should be heeded but of course, isn't.
Spot On Correct:)
Whom belongs that angel voice to ?

Not able to listen to this one with dry eyes: ✔ 12 year-old me ✔ 49 year-old me ✔ 99 year-old me
New Nightmare is self aware to the point that it acknowledges itself as a movie, which is by all means self parody, and yet somehow it finds brand new way to scare us with the same tired franchise. Freddy was a house hold name by that time and he just wasnt scary anymore. Wes Craven had a genius for coming up with 4th wall ideas for horror films that seem to escape the context of the film, and scare us without breaking that 4th wall. I cannot think of a filmmaker who does it as well as Wes did.
Then we had the idea for scream lol
This was the first version of the song I listened to. I only got to listen to the original one a few months ago when it came on the radio, I tried to sing along the original but couldn't keep up because I'm so used to singing it slow lol.
I went to college with William Gates and, even though he was a bench warmer much of the time, I’d see him around campus and he always looked happy. I said hi to him a couple times and he was nothing but friendly, I’m glad he’s doing well.
I had the most intense physical reaction to this film, like nothing I've ever experienced before while watching a movie. During the ending scene, with the strawberries, I began to sob uncontrollably, thank goodness I was alone, because I was an absolute mess. I'm not sure I've ever cried that hard. I watched it again and the same thing happened. The third time I was prepared and it didn't happen, I've never been able to fully understand what about it struck me so deeply.
I recall most vividly..."Exit stage left, stage right, out the window even!!"
Sounds of an angel
He's got a lot of soul.
