This is so cool. I hope the manufacturer takes your advice to make the truck better. Crating would be a biggie, suspension would be another. Everything else is just livable.
Cheap aftermarket air bladders might work, provided there's a way to mount em(?) Would be interesting to see exactly how the suspension works/is designed.

@Steve Lacroix - Totally see your point but items like this are actually built within a limited production cost in mind and are meant to be as inexpensive as possible to fill a (empty) niche in the market and still turn a small profit. If the manufacturer improves it too much, then the mini EV truck won’t be as affordable and will then have to compete with other EVs outside its intended market, which is fine but then of course the price will no longer stay at $2k.
Thank you for sharing the unboxing and review of this interesting utility vehicle. As a retired person I can think of a thousand things this vehicle could be used for. New York state has too many regulations when it comes to registering vehicles for use on public roads. Make all the jokes you want, it's great to see a company strive for cheaper car options. Not everyone that needs a vehicle can afford 40-50k "entry level" cars.
FYI: All major Asian car manufacturers have small economy vehicles like the Chevy spark. These vehicles (kei cars) are allowed in all countries but the US. Our GOVT is manipulating what vehicles are purchased in the US. Kei cars get 50-60 mpg and are priced 10-15k.
Great video!! Interesting and extremely informative too. Also, without seeming creepy, I hope, I want to say you have a great personality, an easy going manner that makes me smile and just pay attention and learn something. I’m going to look into your solar book as we are making a camper truck.
Appreciate how thorough this. By the end you listed pros and cons, were serious about it's limitations, and let us know the true cost. It'll be interesting to hear what of it holds up or breaks down over time.
Thank you for an honest upfront review. Many people do not state all the additional fees it takes to get items into the country and people do not understand that. Everything imported has these fees and is built in to your cost when you purchase locally.
I think that hi-lo gear lever has been put on 90deg out. Could be an easy fix. If it has multi leaf springs you may be able to take one out. I suspect its designed to ride well when completely overloaded.
Check the springs for suspension blocks, nylon blocks which are placed in the springs, they effectively stabilise the load for transportation. If there present, you need to remove them by jacking up the vehicle. This could be the excessive clunking that your hearing.
The fact that you have to zip tie anything is a game changer for me. I was waiting for it to fall to pieces when you started driving in the paddock. I'm sure with a bit of work you'll keep it running.
Great video! Tthe first thing I'd tackle is those welding joints - one bump too many and that chassis could break! Get a local welder in to fix up the strength. They can go after the spot welds on the cage too. If it's your parents who are on board, better to keep them safe before going after the other improvements,
Agreed, the amount of rattling and groaning is very concerning. Its literally the noisiest EV ever. My e-MTB out on the trails sound more subdued and apparently way better suspension too. Lol

There is no way, looking at the welds on that frame, that vehicle will ever be street legal. Could you even imagine what a wreck by someone in a full size car would look like against that tin can?
We had a similar situation when some people started using Indian made battery "Cars" in London. They were(are) called Gwizz. No way they would ever pass the car safety tests so they got round them by selling it as a Quadracycle, a covered quad bike. Although it obviously wasn't, it was a car. I saw one have a head on with a London black taxi. Relatively low speed, probably no more than 20 to 25mph combined speed. The entire bodywork was ripped off the chassis and burst open. The Taxi didn't even break it's headlights and drove away from the accident.
I doubt he's gonna drive it on anything more than his property, and a couple back roads.......Its supposed to replace a golf cart, not an actual truck.
A very simple mod to get the low gear setting functional is just replace the lever. You can see in the video how easy it would be to unbolt and replace with $5 of home depot jerry rigging.
It's not often that I find a video on TH-cam these days (unexpectedly), and enjoy it. I'd love to see how the improvements turn out. Maybe the company that makes this truck could benefit from them.
Yeah i think that's how it should be looked at. It is not a truck - if you look at it like a truck you will get disappointed and upset and ridicule the thing. It is not what it is meant to be used for.
One modification you can make would be an extended curved/bent lever for 1st Gear, just don’t trip over it on the way out the door! 😊 Nice drone coverage by the way!
Actually this is rather accurate, Something not built by Americans would technically be built by “aliens”, as we call anyone not a citizen of the US a Alien.
I haven't finished watching the video yet, but I have reached the part where the truck is fully unpacked with no damage, so the shipping frame already impressed me.
Did it impress you when he couldn't drive it over a metal bar that was laid on the ground? for almost $9 grand that thing should be able to do burnouts
@@ljprep6250 Yeah not 9 grand and also that's the added shipping and fees. If someone had a friend who helped ship the things for free the price will go down way lower. The FIXED price is $2000 so the "9 grand" the guy was talking about isn't exactly the price of the vehicle.
I would be curious to see a 6 month follow up video. Also while I think it was neat I feel like for this cost of this you could have purchased a beater truck that would be far more useful.

@Al13n1nV8D3R lol, but it would stimulate the American economy if you buy the Chang Li. After all, $5950 of that $7950 went to the American government and the American middleman. Or are you just mad that it was some American worker, and not you, who essentially gobbled up chunks of that $6000, which was charged on top of a product sold at $2000 (which itself almost certainly used American components). Moreover, are you seriously arguing that the 1%, who you say don't care about you, instead care about China? Lol, trust yourself, the Americans don't go around the world to stimulate anything, much less China; they go around the world looking for maids, and since no one other than China accepted such a bltch role, out of laziness no less, things are made in China, and even then, just nominally made in China. As a result, I too am in favor of completely decoupling the world economy, just so that Americans don't get to turn around and force the Chinese, along with the rest of the world, into buying overpriced "Made in America" junk, which effectively forces others to subsidize the American lifestyle. This way, when China complains about the status quo, I won't have to hear about such bipartisan gems as the usual anti-China propaganda dressed as a born-again anti-"Communist" fervor, all to stave off the eventual realization that one can only stimulate the economy by not having a bunch of uneducated lazy bums more interested in scapegoating China than upgrading their own skill set.
loosen the speed selector and move it toward the back of the cab so when you switch it it will be in the upright position. I had to do this with my jeep wrangler seat height adjuster as every time I got into and out of the seat it would always lower the seat. I just moved the handle to point down and it never lowered again on it's own. Great buy on the truck.
think there's a nickname in China for EVs like this, literally something like "Old men's fun", lol, because they usually are driven by grandpas to places like community centers, wet market etc, on a daily basis. they are surely not for open roads.
Some big low pressure tires would help solve the suspension issue. They are typically used on amphibious 6x6 ATVs where they also lack suspension because their body's need to be water tight. They are typically run at about 3-5 psi and offer great off-road traction and a surprisingly smooth ride!
However the rear looks like it's actually a real axle with coil springs so maybe it could be upgraded/improved? But it really do need some better tires.
These are enclosed golf carts. They would be excellent on a closed course. I would have loved to have one of these when my grandparents lived in a sort of planned community trailer park. Most of the travel inside the community was in golf carts. I don't think it would survive my other grandparents farm but I'm sure the cows would have been vastly entertained.
ATV tires and wheels with some wheel adapters would add some dampening and a tad of flex to that non-existent suspension. Also, when you have it apart, take one of the rear leaf springs to a local 4x4 shop and see if they can soften the spring rate.
pretty impressive especially considering it's the price of a medium range ebike. the flaws are easy enough to remedy, even the suspension. the absolute cheapest option would be a $5 contoured memory foam pillow from ikea
@@ryateo1 well, if u consider the Chinese middle-class "slaves" that would be correct. But up until late, that class was booming with cash made from factories like this. Just spitballing here, but if you installed some pedals and a crank with a decent gear ratio, you would technically have an electric quadracycle, making it both street legal and slightly more efficient. It might take some engineering but think of the look on the traffic cop's face when he realizes you can pedal it away, and it meets all the specs of an e-bike.
TLDR, not sure if anyone else mentioned it: Maybe check the coil springs to see if there were shipping blocks wedged into them. That might be the cause of the suspension issues.

Came here from the recent vid of how this truck has handled over a year of use. One thing I wanted to mention to folks is I asked a utility company around here that has something similar to this truck, "Where did y'all get that?" I believe he said there is a US company called Eli Lilly that makes them. Essentially the same as this vehicle but made in the US so hopefully you won't get hit with a huge delivery charge.
Probably correct on delivery charge, but the cost of that US vehicle is probably 3-4x the total cost of this Chinese vehicle even with the delivery charge.

The reason its rusting so quickly is the super low steel quality. You should probably spray the whole subframe down with Woolwax or Fluidfilm and coat the body in white bedliner.
I brought a original wheel hub for my BMW. Didn’t install in right away. Covered in rust within a week in Florida summer…. So I don’t think rust is a sign for low quality steel. High carbon steel is prone to rust.
I was thinking the same, the 2K price seems pretty good but I have no doubts by the time I dealt with import taxes, registration, a UK mot test (road worthyness test) and god knows what other fees it'll likely be over £8000
I feel like it'd be cheaper and more practical to just get an old used pickup truck. Then you could drive on the road legally too if you wanted. And it won't rust apart in a year...

Thinking the same.
Bingo I don't see the suspension moving at all so there's definitely some blocks or straps or something holding it
Do u need to register it
@@bagingospringo4396 no, it's just a "toy" to play within your garden. It is not street legal and will not be (too much things to adapt or change). So no need to register it, like a (little) lawn mower :-)
No blocks but too stiff springs. we are replacing with softer springs. Thank you
The amount of weight on container ships is actually incredible. I'm surprised that truck isn't meant for flat stanley by now 🤣🤣
You just brought out a deep memory.
Flat Stanley! Omg maybe Bob the builder was able to pound out the dents 😂
Yes but all the weight on a container ship wasn't on the truck, the only weight on it was what ever was placed on top of it while it was inside the shipping container. What ever was in the shipping containers below, beside or under would have no bearing on it.
when you put on the side mirrors, the wind noise from tremendous speed will cover the suspension squeaks. 😉
Bet it was bought from China but rebadge and sold more expensive than the Chinese 1. That's how usa sold stuff
this cost 2K and i still struggle to find a decent e-bike for that price
Probably plastic parts is why its so cheap
Ride1up :)
@Mario Ramirez Almost 8k in the end but thats another topic, related to weight/shipping and other factors. let's focus on the pure vehicle price and the fact i do not have an Ebike yet :P
LECTRIC ebike $999! -- That truck looks adorable, but I'd be terrified to take it on a freeway.
Just build one
Now you need to put a 12" lift in it and put on 52'' tiers😂
That should make it street legal in Florida, right?
Probably lol
No way!!!!! I love it haha
And you bought a new Tesla instead one of these???
Will Prowse is here...much love to you from Nigeria. This is another cool guy like you i love to watch, i hope you guys hook up on a stream. Stay happy brothers!
$2K for a golf cart 🛒 pickup have fun!
Edit: $8 grand is too rich for most PPL.
I would love if you got one of the Changli's to tinker with on your channel!
Id love to see you make a solar powered one of these.
The cage design worked out perfectly no damage to the truck
The reason its rusting so quickly is the super low steel quality. You should probably spray the whole subframe down with Woolwax or Fluidfilm and coat the body in white bedliner.
If you live in Canada go to Oil Guard and spray your car every year or every other year and it will NEVER rust.
Noxudol seems to work well underneath my car. I got it sprayed in Northern Virginia a few years ago.
@@steveleamont i would never buy this in Canada. It will not survive the winter lol
I brought a original wheel hub for my BMW. Didn’t install in right away. Covered in rust within a week in Florida summer…. So I don’t think rust is a sign for low quality steel. High carbon steel is prone to rust.
@@steveleamont I'm in the US, what kind of coating is this please?!🙏
At $2k I was pretty intrigued, but the 'final' price is far from that, sadly.
If you moved to china or vlad-land you could save $5000
@@magatsMakingAmericaGrossAgain I think I'll stick to my expensive but comfortable life, thanks. ;) It would take a lot more than $5k to move to either of those hell holes.
Yes, get a horse.
Thanks for being so upfront regarding what you totally paid. Never knew golf carts are around 9000, Wow! Best of luck with this truck and I hope it provides u with great service for a long time. Really enjoyed this video!
@Christen Sanders LIke Thanos said, a better deal also is a used Kawi 4wd side by side. I am inevitable.
@Christen Sanders or a good used side by side.
Dude by some best Chinese brands we will love to watch your videos.
