    Deleting is for dramatic reliability increases, not necessarily for horsepower. I highly recommend eliminating the SVR and DEF while installing and aftermarket exhaust and lift pump. Deleting the EGR doesn’t mean removing it. The ECM can be tuned to bypass the EGR so you can still pass emissions.

    I want a full delete as to not pump all the garbage back through the engine and lower my EGT The fact my oil comes out so full of soot is concerning.

    So today I'm at my local GMC dealer I asked about installing a fass lift pump because that's something I've wanted to do to help the cp4. I know stupid idea to ask about modifying the truck but I did. They said it would void the warranty because it's sending more fuel and would just recirculate through and could damage other components. They even said lifting the truck could void the warranty so I guess be careful what you do if you want your warranty. Just wanted to get your thoughts on this thanks!

    So I was just listening to your most recent podcast and you guys said you are giving a 10% discount on tuning for all duramax's and I noticed you didn't specify it must be emissions compliant. I was just thinking you might want to mention that because I called twice last year wanting to get my lmm tuned and due to the fact it was already deleted you guys couldn't tune it for me (which is really to bad because I loved the tune Nick gave me for a lb7 I had 7 or 8 years ago, so I was quite disappointed). Now please don't take this as a complaint I'm just making a suggestion. I really enjoy the podcast, definitely one of my favorites so keep them coming!!

    Hey nick great info in the video. Question. I just bought a canyon diesel and thinking about tuning. It really needs it. When going for service should I flash the truck back to stock before bringing it in for service so they don’t know it’s been done or is it a waste of time. This is my first diesel so I’m trying to learn as much as possible. Thx .... Paul.

    So my issue with deleting my 2015 LML, specifically the DPF & DEF is that they've been nothing but problematic! DEF heater going out repeatedly, the 9th injector failing and now DPF failure and not going into regen. I would want to delete to avoid continued issues! I live in MI so no issue with regulations here..

    So I have never owned a diesel and am just now looking into it. Don't you have to get an annual emissions inspection just like on a gas motor?? How do you get around that if you have deleted?

    • @brandonherrick2803
      @brandonherrick2803 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Bradley I think it depends on where you live, in California maybe, but I live in Texas & and all 3/4 ton trucks and up (2500,3500, etc) are exempt from emissions testing when you get it inspected. Even gas 3/4 ton trucks are exempt, just so long as any deleting does not throw a check engine light at you, you should be okay, that’s where the tuner comes in handy, it will reset the codes. This is all From my experience & my understanding, I’m no expert, so I would ask the place you get your inspections at. Good luck!

    Do you guys offer a delete kit with your tunning. My truck has all emission on it but his hitting the regen up to 3 times a week because it doesn't get hot enough anymore. I short drive it 4 trips round back and forth to work. I dont think running could help to much by lowering the spot grams that would help it from regening as much. From the sounds of it deleting is my only option

    I’m still following you guys and would love to get my truck in there but Houston to Michigan is a long haul. My issue might be simple for you all but for me it’s frustrating. I have a 2005 LLY. I rebuilt the motor and basically stock with a Ryan’s turbo 64mm. The issue is that I have to press the pedal almost all the way down to get up and go and it’s still slow from 0-40mph. I have the calibrated power tuner and we went through numerous runs to try to get more out of it but I still have a sluggish motor 0-40. I wish Houston had someone that knows performance. I hardly think I’m above 500hp. If someone could solve this low end take off power issue I would pay them a $1000 just for the info if it worked. I would love to have it accelerate more like a gasoline motor. I was shooting for that goal with the upgrades on the turbo, tuner and larger turbo inlet and outlet pipe. Sure wish I could solve this. I have a F250 that has a man made dirty tune and it’s crazy fast off the line which I like but it’s a smoker. I can handle smoke but not the heavy stuff like this one is putting out on the Ford. I’m about to turn it down about 25hp just to get it more dependable.

      We strongly suggest a lift pump to get started with. At the least, from there you should do an Exergy Fuel System Saver (Mprop metering valve) upgrade. Your next option would be the Exergy Performance 10mm CP4.2.

    • @5spottedbass
      @5spottedbass 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Duramaxtuner I agree. I drive 60 k miles a year. Between 100k miles ( warranty ran out ) and 150 k miles I had over $6000.00 in DPF emissions related issues.
      I know it's the law but honestly anyone who spends 60 to 70 k on a late model deisel and intends on getting years of service out of it are throwing there money away if they don't delete the dpf and egr and turn it back into a true diesel.
      The trash that gets back in the crankcase alone ruins your engine.
      I myself run a diesel hoping to get 500 k Miles out of one. I understand maintenance is everything and mechanical equipment fails but what there doing to diesel engines this day and time (be it by law or not) is doing nothing more than shortening what would be the true life of the engine.
      You seem very knowledgeable and I would love to see a video from someone like you truly peel back the issues that most consumers of a Duramax have no idea about. Real issues that they better prepare for. Especially the consumers that buy them and use them for grocery getters and hauling there kids to ball practice like it's a family vehicle.

      You clearly say you might gain 1mpg with your tuning but you dont guarantee that. Its proven that emissions delete plus tuning gain you 5 or 6 mpg. So if the power gain comes from the tunes and not the removal of emissions equipment does that mean your tunes are garbage?

    What about regeneration? So in tunning you add more fuel right? And if it's not a super clean tune itll throw your truck into regeneration more often because as everyone knows more fuel more smoke hence more regeneration. Worse full mileage. Just delete and be done. What I've learned is dont waist your money on the fancy crap. Keep factory piping minus dpf and everything else under the truck, factory intake box, swap the cp4 to cp3 and call it a day unless your doing some serious engine and trans work.

    The reliability of deleting make a big difference. I don't by trucks and trade in to get the new motor/body style...Those people will not benefit. I towed 20k lbs and don't plan on getting a new gmc duramax for 10 years. My last deleted duramax was 2008 and had no motor issues. Before I deleted I fought the particulate filter regeneration 5 or 6 times with only 12lbs. Deleted trucks have lower egt's than a stock truck. I had no problem trading in my truck...if you live in CA. don't bother. I do plan on doing some of these upgrades, the quality is 2nd to none.

      The only aftermarket DPF is Bully Dog's for the Ford 6.4. It's apparently a very tricky thing to build. You can listen to the latest episode of the Diesel Performance Podcast to hear more about Bully Dog's effort. It's now March 2017, so it's possible other manufacturers will develop aftermarket DPFs in the near future.

    When it comes to deleting, most guys don’t care about the potential of power, it’s more so the longevity of the engine core itself. Purchasing failed emission components or the subsequent parts that fail because of them is expensive. Have you seen the replacement cost of a modern egr or dpf?? Not doing that.

    My problem with whole delete discussion is as follows Three time i have to spend money to repair the screen, filter and had to have forced re-gend three times as well at $750.00 each time and no it just today turned over 10094.0 miles so its now out of warranty and its acting up again so i cant afford to keep going through these problem as i drive it everyday to work, and i could care less about what the EPA has to say because4 for some crazy reason they are the only private sector Organization that has more power then our Congress and they abuse it for sure. So until somebody will keep paying for truck to get fixed they can kiss my Rebel rear end.

    Your truck engine and transmission are built to specific tolerances. You decide to tune your engine and transmission, adding more stress and wear and tear, and not changing any parts in the engine and transmission. You should expect your tuned engine and transmition to have problems in the future. And that’s why your warranty gets voided. Or you could take the video advice of a guy selling tuning products. This comment probably will get deleted quickly.
