Link summon itself is not why people hate it but they hate the new rules that foce them to run link monsters to just have an extra zone to summon all those better XYZ, and Synchro monsters. Most people ran 5-6 link monsters in their deck just cuz they need it arrow.
We all knew XYZ was gonna be number one. It is LITERALLY the best summoning mechanical in yugioh. Pretty much any deck can use them. Even synchro decks like speedroid (when they were still good, RIP Terror top) used generic rank 3s like Dante and leviair. XYZ are the most consistent summoning mechanic ever made, and I think we all know that (Zoodiac)

Synchros are by far my favorite summoning mechanic. They just feel... versatile. Flexible. Like I'm putting in just the right amount of effort to summon a powerful monster. They don't feel super easy to summon like an XYZ but they're also not clunky to the point of needing specific support cards to even work like Rituals. They really do feel like what fusions always should have been. Also, I like how they're never useless like XYZ are. If I summon an XYZ and use its materials it's basically just a vanilla beater most of the time and I can't use it for another XYZ summon or basically anything other than a tribute like I can with Synchro monsters. That's actually something that I really like about Links. The fact that I can use them for other Link summons just like I can do with Synchros.
xyz monsters do feel pretty easy to get out at least until you start talking about higher raked ones but when you think about it, they also tend to have pretty potent effects so having said effect limited to two or three uses was the way they "_balanced_" the mechanic. still though.
TheGreatJGatsby yea but being able to get a monster with 2500 atk on the field for practically no cost is very much worth not having an effect. XYZ are so much better and cooler.
Speaking of instant fusion (when you mentioned it Paul). I feel like there's should be like instant synchro, and instant xyz, etc.. They would all have there own unique restrictions on the monsters, but it think that would be pretty interesting to have in the game.
That would make them overfuking powered because synchron and xyz dont need a spell card or id they sont they need to be on the field and thats how they are balanced they NEED to be on the field

Or maybe add additional requirements that trigger fusion depending of the fusion monster wanted, like "Monster A + Monster B + A and B have to declare attack on the same turn" or "Monster A + Monster B + A and B have to be in defense position at the same time" or stuff like that.

I love synchros I like the concept and the idea but most importantly all the cool archtypes and ideas that came with synchros and the 5ds era in general
@@TwilatMan69696969 synchros probably requires the most thought when building a deck because of the level addition mechanic, they can be very easy to summon if your cards are chosen right, synchro decks have to be versatile enough to get out a synchro with as many different combinations of cards as possible, for instance if your using predominantly lvl 2 tuners you'd most likely run lvl 4 monsters giving you access to lvl 6 and 8 (and 10/12) synchros or lvl 3 tuners and lvl 3 monsters for lvl 6, 9 and 12 synchros or lvl 3 tuners with lvl 4 monsters for lvl 7 and 10 synchros, you have to choose your cards to maximize the synergy
For the later added Extradeck mechanics its also the best designed one. Just introducing Conditions and the Tuner Submonstertype, thats it. No going to the Extradeck, via Destruction, no Linkarrows, no Xyz Material, no new Fieldzones. Extremly beginnerfriendly and easy to learn, whitout many Rulings.
I really love Xyz monsters and summoning. The first reason I loved Xyz because is the card frame being super cool. And the second reason, super easy to summon them.
Honestly, I think you've hit it right on the mark. Personally, I'll always love Synchros more, but the bottom line is XYZs are way easier to make and allow for back up possibilities for decks that don't need an extra deck like Kozmos. I'd definitely say that Link is the worse solely because of how much it actually hinders most decks from working, especially most lower tier or quirkier decks, and Pendulum is second to that because you basically had to play a deck based around it, and there were too many ways to absolutely break the board thanks to things like Anti Spell and Twin Twisters. Tribute summoning I think gets often overlooked when you consider that sometimes it can unbrick hands with certain decks like Blue Eyes pre new support, also, Kaijus alone make it more significant than Link and Pendulum, and don't even get me started on Monarchs. Rituals are very much their own thing, and even though theyre not super common in competitive play, they can be problematic to deal with. Just my thoughts.
i agree synchros are my favorite extra deck monsters but with XYZ u dont need to worry about tuners (which were only like bad part of synchro monsters) i played blackwings ever since they got released and i never thought that i would play XYZ in them bcos... blackwings are based around synchros but they have a lot of LV4 in their monster lineups and it was really sweet when u bring like utopia lightning and run over anything and your opponent didnt see it coming bcos.. you are playing blackwings. But now with links, everything i fcked IMO

Links just piss me off, cause you had to put them in everything to access your extra deck, Archetypes like Blue-eyes, which has nothing to do with Links, has to run them for the synchros or run the ritual variant, I hated MR4 so much

Synchros really need some love. I always liked how big the toolbox is, unlike a dedicated Rank 3 or 4 deck. Also, I'm so tired of the only viable Synchro builds being Triple Framelord Omega asxfgvhhxdfh Hand fuckery.

When I said "bad" spin-off in the comment, I was speaking as oppose to what the old school yugioh fans think of ZEXAL, in that it was a horrible series with the weirdest hairstyles ever conceived. But IMO, I think they're just overeating. 😑
DM was boring. GX was an entertaining mess. 5D’s was straight fut up boring. Arc-V started off great but ended up garbage. VRAINS is really slow. ZEXAL was consistent from beginning to end, story on point, duel on point, characters or point. Best series.
Definitely agree with Xyz as number 1, if only because of how viable they were in a lot of decks. If you had access to the Rank 4 toolbox, you were generally good to go. I think of Spirit Monsters when they got Aratama & NIkitama -- throw in a Heroic Challenger engine w/t RoTA and you had a surprisingly consistent (for its time) deck. Or when Koa'ki Meru got Urknight, which was searchable off Tenki & M-X-Saber Invoker, and could go into an instant Tiger King. Especially when Norden was legal. Like damn, rogue decks were definitely in their prime not too long ago.
My list on summoning mechanic: 7. Link: obviously because you need this to special summon other monsters 6.Fusion: you need to have polymerization and the monster you need..that just make it a slow process hoping to have the cards 5. Tribute: Yeahh... I know some effects of this is good, but you need to have it on your hands.. 4. Ritual: Like it because you need to have a bunch of monster and combine the levels, but you need to have the ritual spells.. 3. Xyz: easy to summon, but you only can use the effect on how many xyz material you have 2: pendulum: why do people think this is bad? Let's say that you have pendulum monster on both scale and pendulum monsters on the field, if it destroyed it goes to the extra deck which mean you can summon it again on the next turn. But of course it's hard to get the pendulum monster from deck 1.synchro: it's seriously the best one, because all you need is tuner, non tuner monsters, then combine the level to synchro.and you can synchro with another synchro
Right now I think; 1. Tribute right now they are quick to pull of(all of them !!), they aren't easy to deal with or to remove from the field. 2. Ritual; Because they can be spamned and they are searchable. 3. XYZ; Because of the "easy to pull off tool box effect"!! 4. Synchro; most of them can come back to the field in the normal monster zone( Omega, Stardust, all the Red Dragon Archfiend engine). 5. Fusion; There's really good fusions out there, they are searchable, easy to pull off and most of them carry high OTK potencial, but unfortunelly, we can only summon one now .... 6. Pendulum; It's dead alright(besides magician, because there's a lot of search in the deck and all the support they received from the last ban list and from pendulum evolution.). Scales now ocupes the backroad space and without link we can call only one card from extra deck with pendulum summon. 7. Link; For now they are nothing and most of the new archtypes revolves around not summoning them at all. They will be more relevant in the near future ... but only in the future.
Fusion and links are my favorite cause i used to play elemental heroes and now i play salamangreat, i wasnt arround for everything in between, pendelum looks fun but i think from what people say, its brokenly OP, xyz looks cool, and synchro from what ive seen is are pretty good but i hate going up against them lol
Synchro for me, I started on duel links when I didn’t get enough cyb dragon cards for my deck, but I had plenty of superheavys so I made a deck with em. And it’s still my fav deck.
Fusions are my favorite but XYZs have the most utility and are the easiest to make, so I think for that reason it's the best extra deck summoning mechanic.

I think I hated synchro summoning the most out of summoning techniques my deck could use (xyz, pendulum, tribute, and synchro). synchro summoning always involved a large chunk of my deck for kinda ok monsters. While other synchro decks were quad summoning trish first turn so yeah.
I gotten used to Link summoning and it's not as bad a people make it out to be. I'm okay with the pendulum nerf because who wants to see Pendulum 5 on multiple turns if you have no outs. I do agree with the amount of resources it takes to put out a mediocre boss monster
Except you know those 5 monsters probably can't do jack shit by themselves they are only good as monsters that they are used to summong. Unlike every other good deck that can summon 5 monsters that can do stuff by themselves. Remember the DUEA era? Tellars do the saame thign that Pendulums do but better. I didn't see anybody saying "Tellars OP!" .

I love rituals, chaos and chaos max, black luster, armophactor, they have potential and if they didnt require you to have them in your hand they would be amazing! The searches for rituals needs an update or at least more support for it to work better
One reason why I love XYZs over other archetypes is relatively simple, XYZs are based on ranks which are treated seperately from levels. The reason why this is important is that a lot of the most powerful effects I've played against were level based. However, due to the ruling of XYZ Ranks being different from levels, it has saved me from being effected by card effects that would have been devastating to me otherwise.

alright, Personal take on all summoning conditions: Tribute: I don't personally use it all that much, but its good to have just in case Ritual: in my opinion, I don't usually like the idea behind it, but if you can make something good, it can be funny Fusion: I know people love it, but I'm not the biggest fan, you either can only fuse 3 times max ( assuming you only had 3 Poly) or use 1 of the new fusion spell cards that come in *Every Single New Fusion Archetype* and its personally annoying Synchro: I used to main Yusei Fudo in Duel Links and he was fun, especially when you chain Multiple Synchro Summons Together XYZ: I didn't like it at first, the fact you can only use the effects a certain number of times means I can't use their pretty good effects...….Until I played as Yumo in Duel Links Pendulum: I never understood this Link: First actual Extra Deck card I had ever owned, also its pretty simple when you get used to it
I would like to see an archetype that grant additional effects to spells/traps that are activated in the zones your link monsters point to. This way, they dont have any wasted downward pointing arrows.
My favorites are Synchro and Ritual but if I were to rank them from best to worst: 1. Xyz 2. Link 3. Synchro 4. Fusion 5. Tribute 6. Ritual Pendulums are not on the list because the monsters that are summoned by them usually are materials for other summons while the monsters summoned by the other mechanics act as the final product of that summon.
I love how Paul listed Links #7, Pendulums #6 and Tributing #4 and yet the would go onto become the three most dominant summoning in the next few meta.
1. XYZ - easiest since most archetypes have cards with the same levels 2.Link - Sometimes they can be to specific for decks to splash them in 3.Synchro - Tuners have meh support depending on your deck but a lot of synchro are pretty good 4.Fusion - Unlike the 3 above you need specific cards and the only fusion related card that is generic is poly or anything like it 5.Pendulum - Only available in pure pendulum decks 6. Ritual - You need a spell card - which is hard to search out and and the ritual monster and spell both in hand and cards on the field or advanced ritual art but no one wants to play normal garnets 7.Tribute - If it didn't count as a normal summon it wouldn't be a bad summoning method Ways that these methods could get better 1-XYZ - More rank up magic cards
Synchro is just the perfect balance to me between being simple to understand but still being strategic to use optimally, and it overall feels very rewarding as some synchros are very good while not being as easy to pull-off as many Xyz. They also feel very flexible as you can get to the summon requirements with very different means (using a few "big" level monsters or many low level monsters for example) while you cannot really play around like that with Xyz summon. Plus synchro has some super cool monsters and the white cards makes it a very "charismatic" card type.
Potato Then they need to make better and more adaptable links. They shouldn't be waiting to release them. Next booster box (or even the one after) should have splashable link monsters with effects that can create, or at the very least support Rogue/Meta decks. Similar to Crystal Wing, Utopia, Daigusto Emeral, etc. People aren't complaining JUST BECAUSE it's a pain in the ass to use. People are complaining because they're limited to using Meta to actually make a splash in this current moment of time, or Link restrictive decks. (Or rituals, but more often than not, you'll only see rituals like Shinos or Cyber Angels at locals, not often in regionals.)

There is no point giving like 3 monsters,because if your opponent has like trap hole,or Findish Chain for example (i use Findish chain ( and i still can't remember real name or Findish chain is real name lol). So basically your opponent screw you up,you lose 3 monsters and that link monster. Sorry if i didn't say some things good on english cuz i'm from Europe,Croatia :D
I think synchro is the best mainly because of how hyper generic it is. What i mean by that is all you have to do is have a monster with levels and a tuner. All of like 2 monster types have levels, and the majority of synchros' don't have materials that have a level requirement. Like the only thing you need to play synchros is space in the extra and tuners. Easiest mechanic next to xyzs
For me, I love XYZ monsters. They're basically a combining of two souls bound as one. Also, they're abilities are usually quite powerful, even if limited.
So I know you did videos for your updated thoughts on Links but now that we have Master Rule 5 and like 3 years worth of new cards it’d be interesting to see your updated thoughts on the different mechanics and if you thought some got better or if some got worse. Anyways I’m still playing around with the mechanics since I recently got back into the game but so far Fusion is my favorite because you can use materials from your hand or with certain cards your opponents field or grave, followed by XYZ and Pendulums. Still need to play with the other stuff though.
I love fusion summons, with the spell (contact fusion it’s kinda dumb ) if you’re going to summon a monster from the extra deck you’re supposed to have a specific card and that’s why I love fusion summon. 🥳🤩

I would have put Link - Pendulum - Ritual - Synchro - Tribute - Fusion - Xyz. I tend to think that the generalization of Fusion monsters played in their favor, and that Synchro monsters are more of a hindrance. Having to play and summon a Tuner is to me harder to do, that performing a Fusion, especially since Polymerization isn't the only card to allow the Fusion anymore. Konami did a great job at making us believe in Fusion, they made it really flexible, meanwhile Synchroes are still kinda the same.
Discussing about the mechanics themselves, I think the ranking would be something like: 1- Link 2- Xyz 3- Synchro 4-Normal/Tribute 5-Pendulum 6-Fusion 7-Ritual But you're right, in practise, if you take the support into account, it changes a lot of things. Maybe you made this video too soon, as we don't really know what Link Monsters are capable of.
For me synchro summoning is number 1. Then fusion is number 2. Love both those mechanics and I love that when you talked about it you showed my favorite synchro monster stardust dragon lol

It's not even that bad you can spam pendulums (in the hand) , you can still rank 4 utopia easily , quazar can be summoned effectively , fusions only took a little bit of nerfing ,and rituals still suck .
I gotta say, my least favourite has gotta be links, in my opinion I hated how we were forced to use them if we wanted an extra deck. My favourite however is Xyz because my first yugioh anime was zexal so I have a soft spot for them
My favorite summoning is Pendulum Summoning. It is so easy. And it is easier to do other kinds of summoning with it. Like if you want to do Synchro, then summon the monsters you need then Synchro summon it. Same with the other kinds of summoning. Like what Yuya did. Pendulum Xyz, Pendulum Synchro, etc. My least favorite (or to be honest, not really my favorite) is Link Summoning. I really don't get how to do it. 😂
the only thing I don't like about XYZ Monsters is when you bring them back after they die most of them lose access to their abilities because of no overlays
i remember xyz metas people werent playing decks they were playing the extra decks, every monster played was either a hand trap or monster that would search or summon,kagetokage,photon thrasher and tin goldfish should have never been printed,everything became +1 -1 cycle...Im like is this a game or math?
Personally I think fusion is better then synchro. Here's my reasoning, with cards like shadolls and the omni-heros you don't really need specific cards in your hand or the field (and in some cases even the graveyard or banished monsters) while contact fusion is basically synchro summoning without the tuner. It's not very hard to get poly in your hand and recycle it if need be, decks like gladiator beast or heros have pretty good fusions with them. Let me know your thoughts, only respectful comments will get a response
I actually really like Link monsters, I just think they should have focused more on releasing generic or type/attribute based link monsters that can be splashed in pretty much any deck, instead they not only focused on new archetypes but focused the mechanic on a completely new type of monster for no reason.
I think fusion is best overall but if you need an easy way to take out that powerful monster no matter what deck you got dark rebellion xyz dragon got your back he works with any deck with level 4 monsters

I love synchros I like the concept and the idea but most importantly all the cool archtypes and ideas that came with synchros and the 5ds era in general
5D's was a great era. Pulled me back into the game after losing interest for several years.

@@TwilatMan69696969 synchros probably requires the most thought when building a deck because of the level addition mechanic, they can be very easy to summon if your cards are chosen right, synchro decks have to be versatile enough to get out a synchro with as many different combinations of cards as possible, for instance if your using predominantly lvl 2 tuners you'd most likely run lvl 4 monsters giving you access to lvl 6 and 8 (and 10/12) synchros or lvl 3 tuners and lvl 3 monsters for lvl 6, 9 and 12 synchros or lvl 3 tuners with lvl 4 monsters for lvl 7 and 10 synchros, you have to choose your cards to maximize the synergy

For the later added Extradeck mechanics its also the best designed one. Just introducing Conditions and the Tuner Submonstertype, thats it.
No going to the Extradeck, via Destruction, no Linkarrows, no Xyz Material, no new Fieldzones.
Extremly beginnerfriendly and easy to learn, whitout many Rulings.

I really love Xyz monsters and summoning. The first reason I loved Xyz because is the card frame being super cool. And the second reason, super easy to summon them.
Barring the whole Rank-Up thing, I'm also a big fan of XYZ for the same reasons. Other than that, I like MR5 Links and Modern Fusions.
Honestly, I think you've hit it right on the mark. Personally, I'll always love Synchros more, but the bottom line is XYZs are way easier to make and allow for back up possibilities for decks that don't need an extra deck like Kozmos. I'd definitely say that Link is the worse solely because of how much it actually hinders most decks from working, especially most lower tier or quirkier decks, and Pendulum is second to that because you basically had to play a deck based around it, and there were too many ways to absolutely break the board thanks to things like Anti Spell and Twin Twisters. Tribute summoning I think gets often overlooked when you consider that sometimes it can unbrick hands with certain decks like Blue Eyes pre new support, also, Kaijus alone make it more significant than Link and Pendulum, and don't even get me started on Monarchs. Rituals are very much their own thing, and even though theyre not super common in competitive play, they can be problematic to deal with. Just my thoughts.

i played blackwings ever since they got released and i never thought that i would play XYZ in them bcos... blackwings are based around synchros but they have a lot of LV4 in their monster lineups and it was really sweet when u bring like utopia lightning and run over anything and your opponent didnt see it coming bcos.. you are playing blackwings.

Synchros really need some love. I always liked how big the toolbox is, unlike a dedicated Rank 3 or 4 deck. Also, I'm so tired of the only viable Synchro builds being Triple Framelord Omega asxfgvhhxdfh Hand fuckery.

Thanks for all the great content. Favorite summoning mechanic has got to be XYZ, it's probably the fairest / simplistic mechanic for boss monsters, and if it didn't exist we wouldn't have Lightning Chidori, my favorite card so suck it.
ZEXAL may have been a "bad" spin-off series anime-wise, but at least they introduced the absolute (IMO) best special summoning method in the TCG. 😀

DM was boring. GX was an entertaining mess. 5D’s was straight fut up boring. Arc-V started off great but ended up garbage. VRAINS is really slow. ZEXAL was consistent from beginning to end, story on point, duel on point, characters or point. Best series.

Definitely agree with Xyz as number 1, if only because of how viable they were in a lot of decks. If you had access to the Rank 4 toolbox, you were generally good to go. I think of Spirit Monsters when they got Aratama & NIkitama -- throw in a Heroic Challenger engine w/t RoTA and you had a surprisingly consistent (for its time) deck. Or when Koa'ki Meru got Urknight, which was searchable off Tenki & M-X-Saber Invoker, and could go into an instant Tiger King.
Especially when Norden was legal. Like damn, rogue decks were definitely in their prime not too long ago.

I recently pulled a 1st ed Excition Night (back when it was $100) and it mysteriously disappeared. The next day my friend “pulled” it.
My list on summoning mechanic:
7. Link: obviously because you need this to special summon other monsters
6.Fusion: you need to have polymerization and the monster you need..that just make it a slow process hoping to have the cards
5. Tribute: Yeahh... I know some effects of this is good, but you need to have it on your hands..
4. Ritual: Like it because you need to have a bunch of monster and combine the levels, but you need to have the ritual spells..
3. Xyz: easy to summon, but you only can use the effect on how many xyz material you have
2: pendulum: why do people think this is bad? Let's say that you have pendulum monster on both scale and pendulum monsters on the field, if it destroyed it goes to the extra deck which mean you can summon it again on the next turn. But of course it's hard to get the pendulum monster from deck
1.synchro: it's seriously the best one, because all you need is tuner, non tuner monsters, then combine the level to synchro.and you can synchro with another synchro

Right now I think;
1. Tribute right now they are quick to pull of(all of them !!), they aren't easy to deal with or to remove from the field.
2. Ritual; Because they can be spamned and they are searchable.
3. XYZ; Because of the "easy to pull off tool box effect"!!
4. Synchro; most of them can come back to the field in the normal monster zone( Omega, Stardust, all the Red Dragon Archfiend engine).
5. Fusion; There's really good fusions out there, they are searchable, easy to pull off and most of them carry high OTK potencial, but unfortunelly, we can only summon one now ....
6. Pendulum; It's dead alright(besides magician, because there's a lot of search in the deck and all the support they received from the last ban list and from pendulum evolution.). Scales now ocupes the backroad space and without link we can call only one card from extra deck with pendulum summon.
7. Link; For now they are nothing and most of the new archtypes revolves around not summoning them at all. They will be more relevant in the near future ... but only in the future.

Fusion and links are my favorite cause i used to play elemental heroes and now i play salamangreat, i wasnt arround for everything in between, pendelum looks fun but i think from what people say, its brokenly OP, xyz looks cool, and synchro from what ive seen is are pretty good but i hate going up against them lol

Synchro for me, I started on duel links when I didn’t get enough cyb dragon cards for my deck, but I had plenty of superheavys so I made a deck with em. And it’s still my fav deck.
Fusions are my favorite but XYZs have the most utility and are the easiest to make, so I think for that reason it's the best extra deck summoning mechanic.

I think I hated synchro summoning the most out of summoning techniques my deck could use (xyz, pendulum, tribute, and synchro). synchro summoning always involved a large chunk of my deck for kinda ok monsters. While other synchro decks were quad summoning trish first turn so yeah.
I gotten used to Link summoning and it's not as bad a people make it out to be. I'm okay with the pendulum nerf because who wants to see Pendulum 5 on multiple turns if you have no outs. I do agree with the amount of resources it takes to put out a mediocre boss monster
Except you know those 5 monsters probably can't do jack shit by themselves they are only good as monsters that they are used to summong. Unlike every other good deck that can summon 5 monsters that can do stuff by themselves. Remember the DUEA era? Tellars do the saame thign that Pendulums do but better. One reason why I love XYZs over other archetypes is relatively simple, XYZs are based on ranks which are treated seperately from levels. The reason why this is important is that a lot of the most powerful effects I've played against were level based. However, due to the ruling of XYZ Ranks being different from levels, it has saved me from being effected by card effects that would have been devastating to me otherwise.
The real question is how would a a pendulum link monster look like.

alright, Personal take on all summoning conditions:
Tribute: I don't personally use it all that much, but its good to have just in case
Ritual: in my opinion, I don't usually like the idea behind it, but if you can make something good, it can be funny
Fusion: I know people love it, but I'm not the biggest fan, you either can only fuse 3 times max ( assuming you only had 3 Poly) or use 1 of the new fusion spell cards that come in *Every Single New Fusion Archetype* and its personally annoying
Synchro: I used to main Yusei Fudo in Duel Links and he was fun, especially when you chain Multiple Synchro Summons Together
XYZ: I didn't like it at first, the fact you can only use the effects a certain number of times means I can't use their pretty good effects...….Until I played as Yumo in Duel Links
Pendulum: I never understood this
Link: First actual Extra Deck card I had ever owned, also its pretty simple when you get used to it
I would like to see an archetype that grant additional effects to spells/traps that are activated in the zones your link monsters point to. This way, they dont have any wasted downward pointing arrows.

Pendulums are not on the list because the monsters that are summoned by them usually are materials for other summons while the monsters summoned by the other mechanics act as the final product of that summon.
Persona 5 song is awesome.
I love how Paul listed Links #7, Pendulums #6 and Tributing #4 and yet the would go onto become the three most dominant summoning in the next few meta.

ritual monsters, can also clean out dead cards that you have no tributes for, but i still agree about #5,
1. XYZ - easiest since most archetypes have cards with the same levels
2.Link - Sometimes they can be to specific for decks to splash them in
3.Synchro - Tuners have meh support depending on your deck but a lot of synchro are pretty good
4.Fusion - Unlike the 3 above you need specific cards and the only fusion related card that is generic is poly or anything like it
5.Pendulum - Only available in pure pendulum decks
6. Ritual - You need a spell card - which is hard to search out and and the ritual monster and spell both in hand and cards on the field or advanced ritual art but no one wants to play normal garnets
7.Tribute - If it didn't count as a normal summon it wouldn't be a bad summoning method
Ways that these methods could get better
1-XYZ - More rank up magic cards

Synchro is just the perfect balance to me between being simple to understand but still being strategic to use optimally, and it overall feels very rewarding as some synchros are very good while not being as easy to pull-off as many Xyz.
They also feel very flexible as you can get to the summon requirements with very different means (using a few "big" level monsters or many low level monsters for example) while you cannot really play around like that with Xyz summon.
Plus synchro has some super cool monsters and the white cards makes it a very "charismatic" card type.
They should hold tournaments for Pendulum Format decks, even though Link Format is out. Who's with me? #PendFormTourn

Potato Then they need to make better and more adaptable links. They shouldn't be waiting to release them. Next booster box (or even the one after) should have splashable link monsters with effects that can create, or at the very least support Rogue/Meta decks. Similar to Crystal Wing, Utopia, Daigusto Emeral, etc.
People aren't complaining JUST BECAUSE it's a pain in the ass to use.
People are complaining because they're limited to using Meta to actually make a splash in this current moment of time, or Link restrictive decks. (Or rituals, but more often than not, you'll only see rituals like Shinos or Cyber Angels at locals, not often in regionals.)

I'm here in 2019 lol. I totally agree with you with link summoning. There is no point giving like 3 monsters,because if your opponent has like trap hole,or Findish Chain for example (i use Findish chain ( and i still can't remember real name or Findish chain is real name lol). So basically your opponent screw you up,you lose 3 monsters and that link monster. Sorry if i didn't say some things good on english cuz i'm from Europe,Croatia :D

I think synchro is the best mainly because of how hyper generic it is. What i mean by that is all you have to do is have a monster with levels and a tuner. All of like 2 monster types have levels, and the majority of synchros' don't have materials that have a level requirement. Like the only thing you need to play synchros is space in the extra and tuners. Easiest mechanic next to xyzs
Xyz and synchros are the coolest ones, even if i dont really use synchros.
For me, I love XYZ monsters. They're basically a combining of two souls bound as one. Also, they're abilities are usually quite powerful, even if limited.
So I know you did videos for your updated thoughts on Links but now that we have Master Rule 5 and like 3 years worth of new cards it’d be interesting to see your updated thoughts on the different mechanics and if you thought some got better or if some got worse.
Anyways I’m still playing around with the mechanics since I recently got back into the game but so far Fusion is my favorite because you can use materials from your hand or with certain cards your opponents field or grave, followed by XYZ and Pendulums. Still need to play with the other stuff though.

I tend to think that the generalization of Fusion monsters played in their favor, and that Synchro monsters are more of a hindrance. Having to play and summon a Tuner is to me harder to do, that performing a Fusion, especially since Polymerization isn't the only card to allow the Fusion anymore. Konami did a great job at making us believe in Fusion, they made it really flexible, meanwhile Synchroes are still kinda the same.
I love synchros because the first deck I ever played was Lightsworns and I always loved summoning Michael

It's not even that bad you can spam pendulums (in the hand) , you can still rank 4 utopia easily , quazar can be summoned effectively , fusions only took a little bit of nerfing ,and rituals still suck .
I gotta say, my least favourite has gotta be links, in my opinion I hated how we were forced to use them if we wanted an extra deck. My favourite however is Xyz because my first yugioh anime was zexal so I have a soft spot for them

My favorite summoning is Pendulum Summoning. It is so easy. And it is easier to do other kinds of summoning with it. Like if you want to do Synchro, then summon the monsters you need then Synchro summon it. Same with the other kinds of summoning. Like what Yuya did. Pendulum Xyz, Pendulum Synchro, etc.
My least favorite (or to be honest, not really my favorite) is Link Summoning. I really don't get how to do it. 😂

i remember xyz metas people werent playing decks they were playing the extra decks, every monster played was either a hand trap or monster that would search or summon,kagetokage,photon thrasher and tin goldfish should have never been printed,everything became +1 -1 cycle...Im like is this a game or math?

Personally I think fusion is better then synchro. Here's my reasoning, with cards like shadolls and the
omni-heros you don't really need specific cards in your hand or the field (and in some cases even the graveyard or banished monsters) while contact fusion is basically synchro summoning without the tuner. It's not very hard to get poly in your hand and recycle it if need be, decks like gladiator beast or heros have pretty good fusions with them. Let me know your thoughts, only respectful comments will get a response
I love how you can XYZ monster with low level monsters to get better monster
I honestly kind of like link monsters, but I hate the fact that it killed most other extra decks
I actually really like Link monsters, I just think they should have focused more on releasing generic or type/attribute based link monsters that can be splashed in pretty much any deck, instead they not only focused on new archetypes but focused the mechanic on a completely new type of monster for no reason.
I think fusion is best overall but if you need an easy way to take out that powerful monster no matter what deck you got dark rebellion xyz dragon got your back he works with any deck with level 4 monsters
