Use treated landscaping timbers instead. They serve the same purpose for a fraction of the cost and they look better. I drill two holes at each end and drive rebar through for a strong hold.

thats how i do it but the 2 x6 i run a piece of flashing over it to color match it to the skirting so your not having to look at a 2x6 also if ran correctly it prevents water from sitting on too of the 2x6 kinda the same concept on houses
Need that with some different mods here in North Central Florida, SICK of that skirting that gets brittle & brakes, I'd want aluminum or steel at ALL 4 corners and maybe in between & maybe some DOWN into the ground to keep crap from digging under, just subbed

How much will that job cost with 2x6 way instead of bottom rail
Mine was done that way and the wood was painted white. It is now rotting and is making the siding fall off. It looks terrible.
Not sure about the state year end, but in California, we can't have any any wood touching the dirt

I always charged per job. I would figure per foot with the average height. We only do our own now. Hard to find help

When i do underpinning for mobile homes i do it just like this except i use rebar and fencing nails instead of the 2x2...never thought about doing it that way..i may try that the next time...only thing i would wonder about is would putting that treated lumber in the ground attract carpenter ants or termites?
YEP wood INTO the ground INDEED draws the termites INTO the home, metal or aluminum at each corner & in between is best, I have SEEN the termites going from what's shown here into the home here in Florida
I've been living in my home for over 20 years now and the people who set up my home did not do anything like this at all my skirting is raggedy and has been falling apart ever since we've been staying in our home. I've wish I've would've known this was the way it was supposed to have been done but my husband and I were young and we were fortunate time home buyers back in 2000 and now our home is falling apart because the skirting wasn't put on properly 😢
What part of SC do you work in? What if your mobile home comes with a bottom trim piece? My vinyl siding is vertical and that area has a bottom trim piece.

so the that 2 x 6 "In" the ground, can it be Trex instead of treated Wood?
I guess you can. Trex is only 1” with a rounded edge. May need to screw something else to it to keep channel from rolling

I have some 10 years old. Had to replace a few pieces do to rocks from lawn mower but I keep a few pieces under every home.
NOT long, if you go this route make sure you get more than what you need & put it up OUT of the extreme weather, sun, heat for future use
