HOW TO INSTALL VINYL SIDING

  • This is a simple video of how to install vinyl siding. I know some steps are not exactly perfect but this is what I did to complete the siding on my garage and it's still in good shape.
    Here are some corrections that should have been done for longevity of the siding installation.
    Overlaps on the seams are a little to tight. There should be about 1 inch between the top lock separation. The siding usually will expand almost a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch on a full panel.
    I hope this video is helpful for you and thank you so much for watching.!

      I think it might have something to do with the weather difference. In Nova Scotia it only gets super hot in the months of July and August the rest of the year it can be pretty brisk. If you live in a hot area applying siding might be different.

    Do you alternate or scatter the joints so all are not at the same place up the entire wall? How do you do that? Like wood flooring of a 3 board spacing pattern?

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that's the idea. It will happen automatically, just take full pieces of siding and mount them to the wall until the last one. The last one will most likely be too long so you will need to cut it. Use the cut piece to continue the wall by taking it back to the original starting place (above the fist piece you placed). This will create the pattern.

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's like a puzzle as you go up to the top you must cut the pieces to shape. Same with around the windows and any other protruding objects. And actually I had a shed and we didn't use any Tyvek wrap at all. I just nailed the siding right to it. Honestly it just really depends on how you want to do it. Tyvek wrap however is always best for new construction to maintain the longevity of the structure.
