      I have a pitboss pellet pellet smoker grill. Because of the convection fan cooking due to keeping the main feed hopper lit you don't get enough smoke flavor because it's just blowing the smoke out too fast. I bought 2 smoker tubes and put them just to the left on the grill and it adds enough smoke flavor finally.

      Glenn Steinmo I’ve had my pit boss and have been disappointed with the weak smoke flavor. If you do a long smoke (butt or brisket) how many times do you refill the tube?

      How long did you smoke the ribs? Did you sauce them or put a rub on them before hand? They have a nice color to them, but when they went on, looked raw with nothing. Also Ive heard you dont put the tube over a flame? Im just trying to figure out how to use this tube I got for Christmas.

    I love my smoke tube !! I have a gas grill and I can put meat on the top rack leave the tube at the bottom and indirect heat using only the two outside burners. Works great. Another alt use for the tube is to leave it upright and set on a brick. That smoke so much it repels mosquitoes wonderfully.

    One thing that can help with your pellet smokers is close your hats more on your stacks. I did that with my Members Mark and it made a hell of a difference! more smoke flavor and you can see more smoke out the stack too! But you still have room for more smoke flavor compared to stick smokers so gonna try one of these out with my pellet smoker and see ho much stronger of a smoke taste I can get.

  • @sdega315

    I love my smoke tube! You can also use it to cold smoke salmon, cheese, sea salt, etc. Keep the grill off and light the tube... Smoke for hours at less than 80 degrees.

    I noticed that all of the ash drops in the smoker/grill when you try to retrieve and/or refill after it burns.
    What I did is I put this under the tube before I lit it: I tripled up aluminum foil about 6 inches wide by 1 inch longer on each end than the tube. When burn is done, wrap the foil over the whole works and lift out. No ash on meat/cheese/veggies.

    You lit the wrong end, and the instructions say do not place it over flame. The flavor is not as good as my pit boss and definitely not as much as An offset. You get a wisp of smoke. Works well in the winter for cheese.

    I have used a Camp Chef pellet grill in the past and found that I had to use that smoke tube. To enhance the smoke flavor of the meat I was cooking. Over and above the pellet grill itself. Now that I have gone back to a natural gas grill/bbq. I will definitely give it a try.

    Jack. I tried using this with my Traeger and I don't understand all I know about it, but it caused the combustion cup to fill up with pellets and then they caught on fire. This happened on two different occasions. I've had to quit using mine on my Traeger.

    Hi, I just bought the A-MAZE-SMOKER EXPANDEBLE for my brand-new Weber-Gas-Grill Q2200... As you surly know it's not a very big grill... But I wanted a small one... If I would put the original Weber-Smokerbox on it there wouldn't be much space left for meat... So I was very happy to find this tiny smoker! I'm really looking forward to try out if and how it works! I bought hickory-BBQ -woodchips for the first try... And I hope it will make my BBQ as tasty as yours! I like your Video! Not gonna lie, BBQ I've had off Traegers and pellet stoves taste like it came out of the oven to me. I prefer food out of an actual smoker or charcoal grill until I first used the smoke tube in a gas grill. Adds plenty of smoke flavor to the meat and enhances the flavor.

    Ah yes, before I bought a Rec Tec smoker I tried a Cuisinart smoker tray and felt it was a waste of money in my gas grill. My Rec Tec arrived last week and tried it out immediately, but was also disappointed in the small amount of smoke it produced. However, a few days later my Amazn smoker tube showed up and, like you, was amazed by the amount of smoke it produced. Will be smoking a whole chicken with it on the Weber gas grill later this morning. If you like smoke....buy one of these.

    Good pellets are NOT flavored, they are made from 100% wood. The different wood types, such hickory, mesquite, etc. impart flavor, but the pellets are not flavored. Also, the white smoldering smoke you see is actually the bad, dirty smoke. Any good pitmaster, including Aaron Franklin, will tell you that you want that clear blueish smoke, not the heavy white stuff like you see coming from this tube.

    • @Drewgulbas
      @Drewgulbas 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yup. white smoke is disgusting. literally your meats giving off an SOS smoke signal. for pellets, ive ran a Yoder (best IMO), Memphis, Traeger (complete garbage, Chinese junk), and Cookshack. decent smokes considering the convenience, but not comparable to a real stick

    There definitely is less smoke, but could it be that the Silverbac just had thinner smoke that was tougher to see? Not sure just wondering. I’ve heard that you want thinner smoke usually. But as long as they taste good!

    Good video but I wish you would have showed better exactly how you lit the pellets. I have one and have used a very low cost lighter but they don't work.

    • @Cheeseybacun
      @Cheeseybacun ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah a lighter isn't going to cut it. If you have a gas grill, you can briefly stick the end of the tube down onto the flame of the burner to get it going. Easiest thing though is to get yourself a torch, doesn't have to be anything special, either propane or butane will work.

      Get yourself a good heat gun. It's another good option.

      Heat gun or a small propane bottle torch. That is all you need.

    I have a Napoleon gas grill and I am wondering how this would work with chicken on a rotisserie. Thoughts? I also a Weber Kettle Grill that I smoke with.

    I have had box smokers in the past, I have a gas and electric but purchased a Pit boss Austin XL pellet smoker at the beginning of the summer. I was excited about the pellet feeder thing and the fact that you could grill on it as well I was excited. Boy am I regretting it now. Like you said, with pellet smokers they for the most part really don't smoke too well because of the cycles. I am probably about to sell the Pit boss and get me a nice Weber gas grill with the same smoke tube you used. It will prob taste even better and more versatile. The grilling area on the pitboss was only enough to cook one small steak at a time....kinda defeats the purpose of saying it can grill.

    If I purchase a Pellet Joe from Kamada grills, should I purchase this smoker tube as well?

      If you want to cold smoke, yes. Otherwise just throw a couple chunks of your favorite smoking wood on the lump charcoal once you get to temp.

    I have one and I cannot get that thing to stay lit. It goes out in a few minutes. I've put it in all different places in the grill thinking it wasn't getting enough oxygen, it doesn't matter what I do the thing always goes out.

      I dont think it's supposed to stay lit. I think what your want is more of a smoldering action.

      Make sure your pellets are dry. Keep them indoors with air-conditioning. Pellets are made out of compressed sawdust and they soak up humidity fast.

    Could this be used with small hickory wood pieces that I soak in water and then just leave them on the grates? Would I need to light it with a torch or could I just leave it on the grate?
