Today, I caught my first Alpha Pokémon using this strategy. The first time, I only used my Crobat Super Fang, against a Spinda with Contrary, and I managed to catch it. Now, I have a Spinda!
You can do technician on your breloom with leftovers too. That's what I've been trying and it works about the same. I run swords dance on my breloom too. If it's one of those annoying bulky alphas with a self-healing move, you can put them to sleep, substitute, and swords dance a couple of times first. Then if the alpha wakes up and heals, you can knock it back to 1HP pretty fast with false swipe.
True! I have tried it but I found only healing 1/16 wasn't enough to sustain through bad rng. Since sub takes 1/4, Leftovers take 4 turns to heal you back but spore only lasts a max of 3. Poison Heal is 1/8th so fully healed in 2 turns! Swords dance is smart though! I used to use double team too just in case the stats flipped but I found the stats don't flip often enough to warrant the extra setup time
I use the focus band trick and accelgor with sacrifice combined with love balls if they can heal I usually trick a choice specs into them but the sub trick looks great
@@JinxedBoon focus sash and you don’t need to buy more than one because when you finish the fight it just returns to your Pokemon I use Alakazam because of the high speed and he dies quickly
@@JinxedBoon yes exactly I spore then love ball, love ball is so broken no alpha has taken more than 3 of course you need the Pokemon of the opposite gender but you can always catch the alpha minions really recommend trying the love ball it’s basically a cheat code
Yup! That was just a bug when they made it not work against raid bosses, they accidentally made it not work on alphas. They fixed it in the first bug fix into the event
Thanks!! I should definitely give credit to the creator! I'll add it to the description going forward. Here it is though! th-cam.com/video/Sx_-wu8AUBg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UA66q6hDR58AV-5a
To deal with healing, you could probably use Trick to give them an assault vest. Or you could have Smeargle use Heal Block at some point. Heal Block only lasts 5 turns, but the assault vest lasts the battle. I also like using Trick to give out a lagging tail. But that's less necessary.
Thank you! There are a few discords that post it but the best one for alphas is patrouskis discord, cool duders! They post up every alpha and their movesets on there almost instantly
Thanks for the feedback! I tested taunt but found that 3 turns just wasn't long enough. By the time you swap, spore, sub, it's already done. Not sure if there is a way to extend it though?
I had a doubt about your trainer rebattle video, for some reason I am not able to fit the run in 1 hour( my amuletcoin gets over around survival area start and i miss out the survival and resort area) so almost 2 areas i am not able to cover...any tips on how i can make it all happen in 1 hour?
@riam7530 try giving your spinda hypnosis to help a safer swap into your super fang user! Otherwise you could use something like psychic or Superpower but I'm always afraid to use moves that can KO, even though it's super unlikely that you will ohko with spinda
i didn't understand about dream ball vs timer ball... i should use dream ball as long as its slept two turns and is currently asleep, and it's before turn 11, otherwise i should use timer? also, does dream ball still have max catch rate if the sleep is interrupted? Like, sleep for a turn, wake up, sleep for a turn... Am I at max? EDIT: Also, when do Alphas turn indignant? On a certain turn or after a certain number of stat drops? Thanks for the video
Yup! If it's asleep 2 turns then you can use a dream ball at 4x catch rate! Once you hit turn 11, just use timer balls at a 4x catch rate so that's why we can swap at that point! Also the indignant is just random and can happen once they hit -2 I think but nobody is certain unfortunately! The chance of it seems to go up the more - they have though
You can but you are more limited. Leftovers are 1/16th recovery while poison heal is 1/8th. So if you use sub, which takes 1/4th. It takes 4 turns to recover with Leftovers compared to 2 with posion heal. They only sleep for 1-3 turns so you won't fully heal with Leftovers but it's probably enough recovery that it'll work fine!
I use my Smeargle as super fang as well. Have him on - Spore - Super Fang - Soak ----- Ev Hp and Speed only he can stall longer with his super fang cuz of spore.
It's pretty rare that this happens but if it does, you basically have 2 choices; just throw timer balls and hope you catch/lower stats enough before a wipe, or kill it and wait the 2 mins to come back and try again!
My strategy only using trick lagging tail so that after reverse stat happen, the alpha would still move last. If the alpha has sound based move (bypass subtitute) or multi hit move, usually I use grudge to drop the Alpha's PP to 0. The problem still remain especially about alpha that have healing move, I found other comment I think really helpful about using sword dance on breloom so when they heal/reverse stat, we can lower the Alpha's HP easily.
instead of drain punch i use sword dance to boost my Atk while the alpha is sleeping and I have substitute up. That way false swipe easily brings them down to 1HP even if they heal with roost or what ever
If it works for you! I tried it and found it too slow because you need to gender check the alpha, then cycle through the betas finding an opposite gender, then try to set it up using the beta and if it doesn't work then you have to reset. Or you could do that and use the spore sub as a backup
@@JinxedBoon oh you just come with 2 party spots open and catch one of each before engaging the alpha. Checking what gender the alpha is wastes time before you have to kill it and relog.
Oh nooo! I remember being tempted to masterball my first alpha too! I feel like there should be a special warning on alphas that says specifically not to use them 😂
Interesting. I didn't had problem with 1hp alpha. False swipe + sleep, and you good to go and catch it.....hmmm wrong, turns out it not much matter. I quit this game because of that. After this unbalanced thing that took all my money and PokeBalls I decided to quit this slow tgl simulator.
Use timer balls. Pokeballs are only a 1x catch rate so getting an alpha in it is tough. I usually use less than 5 timer balls to catch an alpha at 1hp and sleeping

@eddybrocklyn7206 this game is super well designed over all and paying money barely gives you any benefit, so I don't know what you mean with that. Sounds like you have a bad strategy and don't want to adapt to the game system. If you don't like the game design, that's totally fine, but don't expect a game to change its mechanics for you when it works so well for those who choose to learn the proper strategies.
