He gave that Detective what he wanted. Some might say, that it would mean that The Djinn isn't all bad... But they'd be totally wrong! In the end, though, The Djinn got what he wanted, which was Alexandra's address. Then, amidst all of the turmoil in that Police Station..... And walked out.
The actor was really invested into the role, wanting to be even more creative in future sequels, but everybody else was thinking small while he was thinking big, and eventually he stepped down. It's pretty apparent just how little the creators thought of this series, considering how much the overall quality began to drop after the first film.

I missed this series until like a decade after the release of the original. Such a great and smart series based on actual Djinn lure from the Middle East. I own all 4 movies on DVD and it’s definitely unique and original.

The Post Apocalyptic movie was probably The Blood of Heroes nobody ever remembers the name of that one as the name makes it sound more like a war film.

@@willie417 Pure speculation, but maybe he can't use his powers on Alexandra because she's the one who woke him. The one he needs to get the three wishes from. In one of the other movies, another master of the Djinn tries to kill themselves so the Djinn wouldn't be able to make them do any more wishes, only to find out that as long as the Djinn hasn't granted them all three of their wishes, they are immortal and invulnerable. this could be part of the rules he needs to follow. No using his powers on the one who freed him, unless it has to do with a wish they made. And that would include finding their whereabouts. He has to do it the normal way. Again, that is pure speculation on my part. It is NOT part of the movie's canon and at no point do they explain this. It's just how I believe it works. Take it or leave it.

Only thing I don't get about this series that's a lapse in logic in my opinion is that, shouldn't the dijinn be obligated to reveal his identity before granting a "Wish"? Like in the case of this detective, does the djinn now own his soul, or did the request just empower the djinn to act, but the one making the wish doesn't lose anything, since it wasn't a sincere request? It wouldn't make sense for the djinn to own someone's soul if it was never disclosed tat that was the term of the contract. There are rules after all.
The funny thing is that if this exact thing had happened in a New York City Police Station today, the murderer would have been released without bail and then given a suspended sentence with 3 months of mandatory anger management training.
