Santa Fe 3751's Grand Departure from Fullerton Railroad Days 2016

- The annual Fullerton Railroad Days was held this past weekend, with thousands of people in attendance. The organizers of the show outdid themselves this year, managing to get a brand new BNSF T4 Credit Unit #4279, Amtrak Veterans Units 42 and 90208, and Baldwin 4-8-4 Steam Engine Santa Fe 3751, all of which were in attendance at the event.
On May 1st, 2016, all 4 of these units departed from Fullerton en route back home to Amtrak's 8th Street Yard. After a nearly 2 hour delay, the moment everyone was waiting for came. Providing the power, Santa Fe 3751 chugged past Fullerton, creating an unforgettable symphony for the ears! It was dark, but be sure to turn up your volume to hear the beauty of this 4-8-4 steamer doing the hard work it was always meant to do!
Featured in this video, are the sights and sounds along the display tracks, as the crews get prepared for the move back to Downtown LA. Amtrak #90208 was coupled first to ATSF 3751, without a problem. Shortly after, the BNSF T4 locomotive attempted to connect to the 4-8-4, but it required a 2nd attempt to make the connection a success. I then headed up to the Parking Structure along with dozens of other railfanners to see the train departing through the station. As mentioned before, after 2 hours around 8:15 PM, the special departed at high speed creating a spectacle for the eyes and ears! Right after the special passed, an eastbound BNSF Stack Train also passed with a EMD SD70ACe 3rd in consist.
