    Do you need to have a custom tune for having 155/30 injectors. My truck is studded and deleted but when idling it puffs out a little black smoke and the injectors are kinda everywhere on my power balance.

    I rebuilt my injectors about a year ago. No problems so far. I wish I’d known about the mods you did. The only difference to what I did, I cleaned everything using an ultrasonic cleaner.
    I hoped you’d do the top seal, as that’s also the only one I didn’t change, as I couldn’t figure out a way to pull the internal c-clip without damaging everything.
    Would those mods do anything on a stick tune till I started doing my upgrades?
    Thanks for another awesome video.

  • @Peaksideperformance
    @Peaksideperformance 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If I'm not mistaken, you can make that a 175/30 by added a 2nd shim plate and plugging the spill port. No its the best way, but it is a way that you can do it

    • @iiSpirityV2
      @iiSpirityV2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      youre correct however some would tell you to shy away from adding a second stock shim plate due to sealing issues and a couple other variables, its just better to just cut the plunger .035ish inches to net the same result along with the plugged spill port... or like .035 plung & .050 off ip will net like 190 i believe is what it is

    • @Peaksideperformance
      @Peaksideperformance 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iiSpirityV2 Sounds about right, stacking shim plates and make uneven sizes as each plunger should be measured separately, you are also lifting the solenoid up and may create sealing issues on the oil rail or extra stress in the solenoid

      You will need to run a S300 turbo kit. Comes with pedestal, up-pipes, drain and feed. It’s entirely different turbo and turbo set up. You will not be able to use your current exhaust housing. Sounds like you should do a little research to understand what it exactly means to put a non vgt turbo on.

    • @LeftLaneDiesels
      @LeftLaneDiesels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I understand these injectors at high pressure create some bleed back. The spill ports give that bleed back a place to go. This helps quite injector noise and increase idle performance.

    any particular reason you went with 155/30?

    • @LeftLaneDiesels
      @LeftLaneDiesels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s a conservative size injector. Can be run with stock fuel system, stock turbo etc. also the modifications are simple when compared to going larger. It’s also safe power long term for the transmission.

  • @chaseperry3384
    @chaseperry3384 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I understand you should have custom tuning with any aftermarket injector you go with but say you have 155/30 injectors that don’t have the blocked spill port should you still need custom tunes or should it be fine at an idle? I guess I should say I have warren premium injectors and I’m not 100% sure if they would block the spill port or if they would do it the “proper way”. I’ve always heard it’s hit or miss with their injectors.

    • @LeftLaneDiesels
      @LeftLaneDiesels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Plugged spill ports or not-anytime you go to bigger injectors you will want custom tuning to utilize the potential of the injector.
      With that said 155/30 that don’t have plugged spill ports don’t have idle issues. Custom Tuning will manipulate pulse width to utilize the extra fuel properly and most efficiently.
      Custom tuning is by far THE BEST modification you can make to the truck for the price to performance gain.

      All of the companies you listed are awesome companies that stand behind their product!
      Flow benching injectors is a method for accurately determining how many cc’s of fuel the injector flows. When they build the injectors they will flow bench and then balance each injector to flow the proper cc’s. 🤘🤙

    So when asked for your tune the injector size would be 155/30 with a blocked larger spill port. And that should get you pretty close of not dead on with those diy injectors? A 500$ kit seems pretty temping. I'm going to try it on the step child truck. The one that just gets the junk and always missing parts for the tow rig. Can't hurt and for 500 bucks might be able to.save more than that down the road with say some 195/ stock and add over sized later. It's a very interesting thing you did hear. Some companies may get upset with this. But there isn't a whole lot of crazys like me who would do such a thing anyhow.

    • @LeftLaneDiesels
      @LeftLaneDiesels  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you were to do this you would want to inform the tuner that the large spill port is plugged. Now not all injectors are built the same, so not every injector will flow 155cc... some may flow a little more and some may flow a little less. This is where large companies flow test injectors and make minor adjustments to the plunger.
      I will never attempt a modification larger than described in this video. I will leave that to the professionals. Tolerances are very tight on these intervals, and making marginal mistakes could cost you an engine.
      I should also add that if you try to send these injectors in as cores to a builder after you have modified them, the builder may not release your core charge due to the modifications made.
