After two years of shooting with the 1DX Mark II, I am finally ready to create my 1DX Mark II 2020 review. There's so many things I love about this camera, but there are also somethings that make me feel like the camera itself is stuck in time. This ushers the question should you buy the 1dx mark ii in 2020? From my perspective of a hybrid shooter, the 1DX Mark II's photo capabilities are still premium. However, the camera does lag in the video department. Hopefully this review will help you decide if the 1DX Mark II is the camera for you.

After getting my hands on the EOS R, I felt like I could approach the 1DX II from a whole new perspective. Let me know if you have any questions and what you guys think of the 1DX II!

Subbed! I found your channel while having a panicked TH-cam search session after buying a 1dxmkii. I had instant buyers remorse even though I’ve wanted this camera for years! Looking forward to more of your content!

Solid video, just upgraded from a 5D IV to this. Super stoked on the FPS and iso performance. I shoot mostly mountain bikes in the woods, so fast moving subjects and very poor lighting conditions. Very informative, subbed!

It’s refreshing to heAr you say you like the 4K in the Mkii because every other TH-camr say how it’s no good.

Thank you for this review. Strange question: would you prefer the 1DX mark II over the Lumix S1H in 2020 for video?

I agree with you word for word on the lack of 10bit and clog in the canon 1dx mark ii. Because like you said it, I'm suffering from a lack in learning and progressing in my color. However I will say it probably has the best image coming out of a DSLR ever. In standard or neutral you almost have to do nothing to get incredible footage out of it. And for many clients they don't care about it being professionally color graded

This is great. I've been using the 1DX II exclusively for 3 years now. For a difficult sport to grab, racquetball... (low light, hard angles, speed etc.) I began mostly shooting sports but have been using it to learn video... and I have to agree with you on all counts. I'd add, it also is important to know where your vids will be viewed. If it's for client work... who specifically need 4k or specific types of quality, then this doesn't serve well. But if you're creating content and growing into video, this thing is a beast with what it does well. The butter-smooth 120, etc. The file sizes on the new 1DX III will be almost unusable for workflow on the high end. So, if you need those... the new 1dx is NOT the way to go. (Though, I won't lie, I'll take one.;) I just wish my DXII had the 4k available to output... like say for a Ninja V... but you can record 1080... which is so nice... to ProRes... all this to say, if you're creating content for TH-cam of social... this thing still rocks nicely.

The 1DX II has become a staple in the photography world. As of now, there are still certain situations in which it Is unrivaled. I'm sure that with the release and adoption of the 1DX III and EOS R5 we will see more users switch away, but it is by no means a bad camera.

It really has. From a photography perspective it's hard to really think about parting ways with it.

Where I live, the 1dx Mark II sells for around 4k used. I think I'm better with the new R6!

Coming from a Lumix G7 and i want to upgrade my camera as i’m starting my company in photos and videos. Would you recommended the 1Dx Mark 2 still? and would you say it’s a good starting point for gear for my company?

I just shot a 1DX MKii and a 1DX MK iii in Maui Hawaii and I can tell you I would not trust any R camera camera in 130 degree temperatures......shooting in deserts, moisture, sand, and rough environments I have damaged (3) R3's that could not handle hard work.....
