Awesome, looking forward to this, especially Uncharted 4! This series is a slow burn, it starts out kind of cartoony (especially with the gameplay aspect) but with a lot of heart to a full on masterpiece by the end in every respect. If you play all the way through make sure to also play the spin off game Lost Legacy, but only after competing the first 4 games.
Edit: yeah, this game was affectionately dubbed “Dude Raider” back when it released with its being similar to the original Tomb Raider games; which is interesting because I think the reboot of Tomb Raider was largely influenced by this game.

One of my favorite things about this game is the spin NaughtyDog put on the legend of El Dorado. It was really cool seeing it as something besides an ancient city of gold for once.

I really, really need to play through this whole series. I own all the games, but I only played halfway through Uncharted 1 a few years ago, then my save file corrupted (recommend occasional backup saves btw). Even though linear games with minimal player choices aren't normally my thing, I fully acknowledge these are some of the best "roller-coaster" type games ever made.
A couple years ago, Girlfriend Reviews called Uncharted 4 unequivocally the BEST game ever watched (for backseat gamers). Pretty high praise from some pretty smart people!

Started the Uncharted (Series) in 2010 on PS3. Paused the game during Chapter 2. Came back the next day and my PS3 motherboard had burned out! Strange. Got pissed off at Playstation for their poor products and bought an X-Box 360 a year later.
Fast forward to March 2021. Had gone back to Playstation 4 three years earlier and saw Uncharted trilogy as a free download! Played # 1 until Chapter 11. Went to load it back up one evening and the file was corrupted! Game gone! I was pissed yet again, but instead of starting over I watched a youtube playthrough in detail and am counting THAT as my completed game!
Currently 25 % the way through the other four (I am taking turns playing each one for whatever reason.) If you catch up to me Miranda🌹, I will only watch your parts that I already played, ha, ha.
Oh, gods ! How can I stop crying, remembering that crooked management.)))

Still to this day my favorite game series of all time! Hence the uncharted half sleeve on my left arm 😊
Even though the animations remain somewhat video-gamey by today's standards (thanks TLOU2, lol), this game was revolutionary in 2007. No game had ever featured even HALF as many individual animations for a lead character. And while cinematic, story-driven games existed (mostly JRPGs of the time), few games made you feel you were a PART of that cinematic story the way Uncharted did...

i'll give you a wee bit of backstory with no spoilers:
Nathan Drake: supposedly blood related to the legendary Sir Francis Drake, very little known about his past, mentored by Victor Sullivan, naturally talented and well versed in a number of subjects linked to treasure hunting.
Victor Sullivan: Nate's Mentor, complicated past, ladies man (anything else would be a spoiler)
Elena Fisher: Notable Field Journalist and always looking for a new adventure/ story.
Also if your looking for more Uncharted/ Nathan Drake stories you can get the books or other games including: Uncharted the Golden Abyss (which sadly only game out on PS Vita for some silly reason, this was a prequel adventure to the main trilogy), Uncharted: The Eye of Indra (a short graphic video/ story that was also a prequel to the trilogy, set after Golden Abyss but before Drake's Fortune) and there is the novel Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth (i'm not sure when this is set but i know it is before Uncharted 4)
According to the 'Uncharted Wiki', 'The Fourth Labyrinth' book takes place after 'Golden Abyss' but before 'Drake's Fortune'.

Oooh i forgot to say for the future, when the characters talk, hang around until they finish because sometimes the game will cut their dialogue off and you might miss some funny stuff. It’s more for the other games tbh
I got this collection for free when Sony made it free to download during the summer of 2020 - they realized people were stuck at home because of Covid so it was good advertising for them to give some of their older games away for free to give people something to do (it also came with the Journey game). But for whatever reason they sat unplayed on my PS4 until earlier this year when I finally played this first one, so this playthrough should be a lot of fun, since I just finished the game about a week ago.

Incidentally these games were inspired by Tomb Raider and they in turn inspired the new Tomb Raider trilogy.
Skipping the first Uncharted is like starting to watch a TV show on Season 2 instead of Season 1. Worst part for me is I've seen a lot of playthroughs on TH-cam where people start the series with Uncharted 4. I'm baffled.

Sony gave me the trilogy and Journey for free in 2020. A gift because of the pandemic. They gave me Horizon Zero Dawn last year. Sony is ALL RIGHT 👍😊.
I also got the trilogy and Journey for free that year. Apparently Sony realized that people were stuck at home because of Covid so they gave the games away to give people something to do, and if they enjoyed them it would help sell their other games.

I love it you and me I like twinsies-mentally anyway, we both love animals and we both love the fact that we can binge stuff after patiently waiting. It’s definitely glorious. I just bought a PS2 today so I can play one of my favorite games of all time tales of the abyss, if you have the time I would definitely recommend getting into the tales of games -Also good luck with this series. Ah, such joy. Uncharted has lost nothing of its old-fashioned, movie-serial-esque charm, with a lovable rogue as the protagonist. Naughty Dog has created a true classic. As you mentioned several times, this game is just good fun, and your playthrough edit keeps the pace up nicely. I'm looking forward to your next episode. Also, the game still looks pretty darn fresh considering its age. I know you are playing the remastered version, but even my original PS3 edition still looks nice in 2022.

My fave series I’ve ever played based on falling in love with the characters wanting to be Elena and feeling like I’m in a movie I love this series more than any game I’ve played
Also, I haven't gone too far into the video yet, about an hour in, but you actually can stealth.
The legend of El Dorado began as stories about a king who would cover himself in gold dust. So it was El Rey Dorado (The Golden King) or El Hombre Dorado (The Golden Man). Over time it was shortened to El Dorado (The Golden) and became a tale about an entire city made out of gold. Nathan infers that The Golden Man could refer to a golden statue.

I love these games they are some of my favorites, I like them so much that, in fact, I have a sleeve tattoo of my favorite videogames and part of it is a compass with Sic Parvis Magna (from Small Beginnings, Greatness)
The other video games on the tattoo are the legend of Zelda twilight princess, Pokemon silver, dishonored, kingdom hearts, and final fantasy XIII

Uncharted was needed because the "Tomb Raider series wasn't exciting explosive enough at this time for the majority of gamers.

In answer to your question about stealth kills, it is possible in this game (just come up behind them and press square) but it’s almost impossible to kill more than one before you’re noticed. Actually maybe it is impossible, since the most I’ve ever seen anybody kill stealthily in one scene is one.
There's 5 games. The 5th one is called Lost Legacy and it's a spinoff of the main story
