      We got lucky in the end river dam held out the impact of river almost bursting with water flowing at 600m/s, there is some water in the city but mainly in basements, there will be lots of cleaning and repair but most of the city is well, less lucky was Ladek-Zdroj or Glucholazy. But we will restore everything, thank you 🙏(PS now Opole, Wroclaw is fighting, but thanks to mobilisation and new reservoir at Raciborz the wave should be lower but prolonged, expecting some damage but not in the extent of '97 floods)

      To be honest, Brits or more specifically the English are probably one of the, if not the most disliked nation on planet earth (mostly due to history - even for Poles, who still consider Brits as complete backstabbers for leaving Poland alone to fight Hitler in 1939 and then leaving it to Stalin again in 1945), but of all the nations out there Poland would probably be one of the very few that would be willing to help Britain out.

      @@kristinavirova7056 yeah I don't get it. I call myself eastern european but maybe it's because I'm from the Subcarpathian region, and maybe because I've been living abroad for many years, and understand that although we are much different from the mentality of Russia or Belarus, we're still much closer culturally to them than Germany or UK.
      Shieeet, look up how LGBT marches looked like in cities like Białystok and tell me, does it reminds you more of German or Russian mentality? Yeah.

    • @leno_o17
      @leno_o17 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@aw2584 we're not closer to any of them, we're in between. Not to mention how different the western and eastern parts of Poland are, thanks to Partitions. I dont know what happened in Białystok, but you're giving literally the most eastern major city as an example.
      As long as you say west or east, something will feel wrong, because Poland has always been- culturally, politically, stylistically, economically and geographically- central. And that's how it was perceived since the middle ages (actually it was considered western, because it was latin, catholic and had extensive political, cultural and economical relations with Germany, Italy or France. But the fact of being married to Lithuania was keeping the Commonwealth more connected to the Eastern flank).
      The concept of eastern Europe was only developed with the appearance of the Soviet Bloc.

    I’m in the US…we’ve been having the same regional flooding problem that comes along with terrible draught in other regions, as well, and I want to say I’m so sorry to all the people affected. My heart is pained for you.
    I’ve been trying to introduce the idea to the people that we should have water pipelines to move large quantities of water to where it’s needed, from where it is presenting a hazard. We can build gas and oil pipelines that crisscross the continent…there is no reason to not have a water pipeline, too!
    I urge people to consider it and to start pressuring governments to get plans made and funds set aside…it won’t stop flooding entirely, but it could certainly reduce severity and pay for itself in the infrastructure saved. The ideal would be to lower lake and river levels before crisis levels are reached, and put that water into reservoirs in dry areas.
    Together, we can help reduce destruction and suffering. 🤗❤️

We never had rainy years like this either in the past 30 years at least. Now i live in canada. And toronto had more rain in 3hours than in an entire month, threatening the city's infrastructure and ability to stay 'aflaot' in such weather. U have no clue. Tell me another time in earth's history when the climate changed that fast? U wont find it. U the kind that only learns when the waters reach your and your loved ones neck. Nice day tho.
      And to the orignal comment: my dad is from southeast asia and my mom swiss. Comparing the environment and weather of asia and europe is pointless. You dont deal with the same natural catastrophies even closely aside flooding. Just consider difference in landscape and where civilization was built alone . Those factors are important to consider the difference in terms of catastrophies. My father's people built wooden houses on long legs to avoid flooding. Europeans build on the ground and have thick walls to avoid harsh winters. You can't really compare them cuz they are too different. Also, southeast asia is dealing with climate change as well. From heatstrokes to snow (in my dad's country) that people are not used to. Hope made sense. And nice day:)

    Hope those people can refurnish their house. Here when we can't afford it, we often can get roadside furniture free (not damaged) that people put out. Also quality 2nd hand can be obtained cheaper from certain stores and "charity" type. In this situation a special effort could be made to assist flood affected victims by those more affluent. Of course more essential food items will be needed and fresh water. Stored packaged types may be processed but will do in an emergency. Frozen foods should be eaten quickly in case of power outages and if there is battery radio listen for helpful advice.

The rivers are all surrounded by 1000 m peaks. The rainfall is frequent but when combined with a prolonged rain storm creates flooding predicaments. Most people settle in the valleys along its banks.
