Have one of these for Hammock Kayak Camping in Ireland, nothing comes close to comfort of the Amok....and ive tested so much gear. This is no my go to sleep system once I know theres trees!
Thanks for the video. i can agree a lovely hammock indeed, as i also have the draumar 5.0. I didnt purchase the tarp as i found that my 3 x 3 dd tarp did just fine and my new purchase of the dd XL tarp will be even better so really theres no need to purchase the amok tarp . Not to say that i dont want one, of course, as who doesn't love a tarp !! And im also loving the tensioning devices they have, but i have attached a similar ratchet device to the corners of my DD with some carabiners .. and who also doesn't love a good biner collection !! Anyway . Thanks for the video

My only concern is the 265 weight capacity. I'm already 220-225 depending on the day. Granted I don't plan on stirring an additional 40 pounds of gear in it, but doesn't seem like a great buffer.
The Amok website says the capacity is 400lbs. So it might bear further looking into.
There is a stronger version 5.0 version now that is ok up to 180kg. Though it is not the ultra light version.
I think that's cool features, and looks comfy, but I feel like having UL in the name is a bit rich? 2kg for the shelter (even if it's mega comfortable) is not really what most people would think of as ultralight?
I definitely want to try hammock camping at some point, but every time I look at it the weights are the thing that I struggle to justify. My current tent equipment to this is under 1kg, and my tarp equivalent is closer to 800g. (just shelter and sleeping pad)
I've heard other people say how comfortable hammocks are, but are they another full kilogram comfier?
I definitely understand your reluctance to add weight to your pack. I believe that the UL was in the name because it's ultra light in comparison to their other version 🤣.
If you are interested in hammock systems, there are some very light gathered end hammocks that will get your weight down comparable to what a UL tent and inflatable sleeping pad weigh in at. It's not cheap, but you can get a hammock system pretty light. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching 🙂.
@@EpicOutdoorz do you use pads in the gathered ends ones? Most of the stuff I've seen seems that I'd have to get a hammock and under quilt for warmth, then the tarp for cover?

Just sell a kidney and this hammock can be yours....ridiculously expensive.
