Hey Isaac, I’ve been years thinking this Tangled “theory” and i think maybe you can proceed with this thought. I think Rapunzel’s powers are not really shown, I think this because of two things, first because they thought that the hair was the only way to get the flower’s power but we see that her tears also work. I’m not saying that every time she cries but when she cries and sings. We know singing activates its powers. Also, we can see Rapunzel and Eugene in Elsa’s coronation, implying they know each other, or at least their kingdoms. Elsa just like Rapunzel has powers that have always been controlled by someone or forced to be hidden, Elsa’s because of danger and Rapunzel’s because of greed and selfishness. But in the moment Elsa’s cover was shown, her true powers start to grow, showing a powerful ice bender or whatever. I believe that Rapunzel’s full potencial can be released if given the chance and that they can be more than just healing and youth giving. Now that Tangled series show that her hair has grown back, maybe also her full potencial can be unlocked, a hint of this is theno cutting “power up” Hopefully you can make something of of this
It makes sense now: when Tala gave up the heart of Te-Fiti, she passed on the connection to her granddaughter Moana. And it maybe why Te-Fiti looks a lot like Moana, when she is restored. Those with the deepest beliefs, have the strongest connections. Thanks for the explanation, Isaac.

Because its a cultural thing in all Polynesia not just Hawaii. Which is where Lilo and stitch takes place but Moana is all of Polynesia like Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand etc..

This whole story depends on if tala actually knew that the heart actually extended her life. She knew it was important but did she ever loose it and find out that it was actually keeping her alive? Or was it just super important to her so she kept it safe? I agree it probably extended her life, but she wasn't super unusually old to lead her to that conclusion.
She just wanted a heir to pursue the Tefiti quest, and Moana was the only available option. Notice that she would have find out during her youth, she would have made herself the Tefiti Quest; her boat was ready to sail.
Maybe Tala already had a sense of death when Moana was growing up, not baby Moana at the very beginning of the movie, like she awoke one morning feeling worse than usual and felt sickly and ill but decided I'm still putting this damn necklace on and it just rejuvenated her health so she realised from that.
It was because he was a mix between two different elephant breeds. The mother was a Asian Elephant and the father a African. The Asian elephants are on the smaller side with smaller ears and the African elephants are larger with large ears. Dumbo was supposed to be the size of his mothers breed but with his fathers ears (if not a little over exaggerated). The sad thing on this though is Asian/African mix babies are often not viable and do not live long.
Tala was truly a selfless character. And the fact that she probably knew she couldn’t survive without the heart but still gave it up makes her more so. No wonder she was one of my top favorite Disney characters. 😊😊😊
She sacrifices for the parents, cause we dont need more “dead parents” tropes. 2:43 right that part didnt make any sense, but I supposed it did because she did have the Heart with her
Grandma Tala’s probably the most selfless character in the film, in a film where self-sacrifice is both a character strength and fatal flaw of all the major characters to some degree or another. She knew exactly what the Heart was, saw the effects it had on her, but unlike her Ancestors (or Maui, who attempted to steal it for them- (the myth that the theft/Maui’s Demise is based on is...not nice and sanitized. Let’s just say, goaded or not, Maui got what he deserved) -she isn’t tempted by it and willingly lets it pass on to Moana
I think there's another element here. The ocean chose to give the stone to Moana because it was her destiny, and it protected her from everything as long as she was in possession of it because the destiny had to come to fruition. In the same way, the stone allowed itself to stay with Tala because it knew that the toddler was not ready to set out to sea yet. Also, Tala was the only person who really knew, believed and understood the gravity of the story, and would be the person close enough and trusted enough by Moana to be able to get her to go. So the stone had to protect Tala in order for destiny to be fulfilled, until it no longer needed her human form. A slightly darker theory: as you laid out in the Te Fiti vs Te Ka video, Te Fiti is not 100% altruistic, especially when the heart is separated. So it could make sense that the heart was self-serving and willing to use whoever it decided would fit best for its mission back to Te Fiti.
Because the only reason they haven’t been coronated is because they make more money as individual franchises than they do included in the Disney Princess line up.

Hmm. 🤔 I don't feel Tala was making a "sacrifice". She knew that the time for her to pass on grew closer as Moana reached adulthood. I believe to some extent , she knew the stone was keeping her alive, but as it was stated, Tala wasn't keeping the stone to extend her life. The fact that she was holding it for so long disrupted the cycle of life, so I feel that it was more of her stepping down to not only allow Moana to complete her destined mission but also ensure the cycle of life stays balanced. 🤷♀️

Oh, this was me! I posted this theory in a couple Disney videos, including one of yours (unless someone else posted this theory too and that was the one you saw). Either way, it’s still awesome to see my theory here. I actually posted a few other theories I had in different videos, but I never actually expected you to do one. Sweet!
I like all your videos and have been watching for over a year. But Disney as a company has made some interesting moves over the last few years, and I would like to know your opinions about the real world of Disney. The reality of their purchases and choices. The direction they are traveling with their new streaming service to come. It would be interesting to hear from a fellow Disney lover.
So.. I wasn't really on board with this until you mentioned the power of the heart of Te Fiti. That got me thinking about something that bothered me, a plot hole in the movie... Why did the grandmother seem to have powers even beyond the grave further guiding Moana when she needed it? Moana would have given up after the first confrontation with Teka, if Tala had not shown up and reminded Moana who she is. The power of the heart granting Tala Longevity might not be the only way the heart if Te Fiti played a role in this story. Tala was wearing the heart at the time she made the wish to become a ray. If the heart was feeding her power, does it then not make sense that a part of Tala's soul also lives within the heart? So was it really a sacrifice or was it similar to Obi-Wan in A New Hope? Could it possibly be Tala knew exactly how the power of the heart worked after all the years she possessed it? Could Tala have known that even in death it was still her duty to guide Moana? Perhaps.. it wasn't a sacrifice at all. ("There is no where you could go that I won't be with you")
Tala was my favorite character from the Moana movie. I'm Australian aboriginal from the coastal area and my people have a lot in common with the Polynesian people's so Moana as a whole was very close to me but tala especially she is so much like my grandmother It had me crying when ever she was on screen everything about her was like my grandmother they way she looked the way she talked and especially the way she was with the ocean. My grandmother died when I was about 14 and it destroyed me as she was the only one of my family who understood me and my needs to follow my feet and go walk about by myself. To experience and get in touch with my country and its waters and find who I was. As I am half cast my farther is aboriginal but my mother is European and I always felt like I didn't fit into one side or another and needed to find that out. And the best way for me was walk about.
Kinda like how it happend in Atlantis the 1st one because when king Kashekim Nedakh past on after giveing his daughter the stone(heart of atlanis) makes me wonder if the two world are contected.
I think Tala was a demigod like Maui and needed the heart to live once she gave it to Moana she had her soul in the heart which is how she came back as a manteray just my thought
I always just figured it was because the heart of Te-Fiti allows one to give life or something like that. So the heart was always keeping Tala alive, and when the stone was passed on to Moana, it wasn't able to give her that life anymore
I finally completed my entire theatricality released Disney animated movie collection when I purchased Ralph Breaks the Internet!! Now I just have to wait for Frozen 2!!

I’m the village crazy lady, that’s my job = my Mom’s side of the family in a nutshell Good theory btw! But Disney as a company has made some interesting moves over the last few years, and I would like to know your opinions about the real world of Disney. The reality of their purchases and choices. The direction they are traveling with their new streaming service to come.

So.. I wasn't really on board with this until you mentioned the power of the heart of Te Fiti. That got me thinking about something that bothered me, a plot hole in the movie... Why did the grandmother seem to have powers even beyond the grave further guiding Moana when she needed it? Moana would have given up after the first confrontation with Teka, if Tala had not shown up and reminded Moana who she is. The power of the heart granting Tala Longevity might not be the only way the heart if Te Fiti played a role in this story.
Tala was wearing the heart at the time she made the wish to become a ray. If the heart was feeding her power, does it then not make sense that a part of Tala's soul also lives within the heart? So was it really a sacrifice or was it similar to Obi-Wan in A New Hope? Could it possibly be Tala knew exactly how the power of the heart worked after all the years she possessed it? Could Tala have known that even in death it was still her duty to guide Moana? Perhaps.. it wasn't a sacrifice at all. ("There is no where you could go that I won't be with you")
Tala was my favorite character from the Moana movie. I'm Australian aboriginal from the coastal area and my people have a lot in common with the Polynesian people's so Moana as a whole was very close to me but tala especially she is so much like my grandmother It had me crying when ever she was on screen everything about her was like my grandmother they way she looked the way she talked and especially the way she was with the ocean. My grandmother died when I was about 14 and it destroyed me as she was the only one of my family who understood me and my needs to follow my feet and go walk about by myself. To experience and get in touch with my country and its waters and find who I was. As I am half cast my farther is aboriginal but my mother is European and I always felt like I didn't fit into one side or another and needed to find that out. And the best way for me was walk about.
Grandma Tala is such a beautiful and wise woman
Kinda like how it happend in Atlantis the 1st one because when king Kashekim Nedakh past on after giveing his daughter the stone(heart of atlanis) makes me wonder if the two world are contected.
I think Tala was a demigod like Maui and needed the heart to live once she gave it to Moana she had her soul in the heart which is how she came back as a manteray just my thought

I always just figured it was because the heart of Te-Fiti allows one to give life or something like that. So the heart was always keeping Tala alive, and when the stone was passed on to Moana, it wasn't able to give her that life anymore
