😢 omg! thank you sooooo much for this video, I brought my system 3years ago and I've been trying to find out how to hear my system louder without turning it up to the max..read the instructions but didn't understand much I was very disappointed 😢I've been looking on TH-cam over and over again waiting on someone that had the same problem, but nothing about how to get better sound for my money. today's date is 7/9/24 , finally I came across your video which by the way was very easy to follow I'm at work now but soon as I get home I will adjust my settings just like you showed me I hope this works. I will be back with the comment on if it worked for me thank you.😊
As someone else stated DRC should be set to off because it will compress the sound, not sure exactly how much but that is the function of that setting. I like the Sony because it is more like a basic receiver with the distance and extra DB settings.
Please dont feel offended as that is not my intention, but you remind me of MKBHD early days. I liked your video because you kept it so immersive and engaged . WIsh you all the best Sir! hope you get famous soon .
Once you get the sound field setup it really sounds amazing for movies. I have the a5000, sws3 sub and 2 SA-RS5 surrounds with the upfiring speakers on them. I did the auto calibration because my room is abnormal and it does a better job than manually changing settings IMO. I keep sound field on and use the Sony vertical engine. Since I have the Sony A80j 77” OLED, I also use the center speaker TV setting. Just watched DUNE part I on 4K Blue Ray in DV/DA and it was incredible. The sound just envelopes me sitting 12ft away. Way better surround than anything else in this range IMO. Sounds better than my real 7.1 system I had before. It sucks that it’s so involved to ensure you get the best audio from these things. A lot of people have no idea how to set this stuff or even that you need to configure anything and then they just trash these soundbars online. Like, that’s sucks for them I guess. But also people that think they need to go by SONOS and spend a ton of money on that stuff. Sonos is good out of the box but the Sony high end systems blow it out of the water if configured correctly. At least for home theatre. Music is not the best but it’s alright.
I think I did all that already I always crank the decibels at Xmas time or first time watching a movie get that cinematic😊 experience. I’m blessed have that system in one bedroom/gameroom. Got the klipsch/pioneer receiver in main room.
To do this accurately, pick up an inexpensive sound pressure level meter and use the test tone option with the sound pressure level meter microphone pointing up toward the ceiling at ear height in the listening position. Adjust each speaker so that the sound pressure level is the same between all the speakers, no more tweaking required. Try to set your baseline to 75 db for each speaker and use the slow averaging weighting setting on your sound pressure meter. Obviously, start with the main volume with all the speakers set to 0 db, then turn the volume up until you are hitting around 85 db when playing white noise, then when you are adjusting each speakers volume, adjust to 75 db. Make a mental note of what your main volume level is at when you start adjusting each individual speaker volume, this is your reference volume, ie. how loud you would play movie content if you wanted to have it sound as close to the intended volume as possible. I will warn you, this will be loud, but, you will know how loud you need to have the soundbar at. I always have the volume lower than this setting but I have a good idea of where I will need to have the volume depending on time of day I am watching content.
Great video! I recently bought the 5000 and love it but did not know any of this so I will definitely be doing some tweaks to it. I have the RS5 surround speakers and the SW3 subwoofer too so I’m exited to try this out. Thanks buddy!
I actually contacted the head sales rep at Sony (covers the entire Midwest) and asked him this very question, along with a very nice "and / or" diagram... he replied by saying only the manual inputs apply to the other 3 sound engines and NOT 360 Soundfield Optimization. 360 Sound Optimization calibrated its own settings for distance and decibels... hence, the manual inputs are grayed-out when 360 Soundfield Optimization is set to "On". Have you tried using a decibel reader to see if there is actually a difference when the manual settings are on 0 compared to when you adjusted them... at the same volume level and same scene in a movie?
Great video, i love how you digging into those manual staff. Thougt the same point to have a option for adjustments during the movie and not like pressing home-settings-ect... Have the same point about "Dsee off",mentioned on commetns, especially for higher volume of rears (RS5) without changing manual the levels...but i need to check the difference again by myself. Thanks so much for you videos
I saw a menu item in Audio - Manual Settings, at the bottom labelled Test Tone. What is that for and have you used it? I have this system, no rears, yet, but the main soundbar and the SA-SW5 sub. Is it a 75db reference tone? Thanks for the video, love your enthusiasm 😊
Hi enjoy your Vlad today I would like to ask a question I currently have Sony Ht -sc 40, I’d like to be able to hook up rear speakers. They only gave me a subwoofer and the sound bar, but no rear speakers I would like to know can I hook up any wireless speakers like Sonos wireless speakers to the Sony sound bar I like the system, but it’s not enough speakers.
I just got this today to compare with the Bose 900 soundbar. The Sony sounds worse to me, which is why I’m watching your video. I got to the point where you are turning off 360 spatial sound mapping, but it is greyed out for me and I don’t know how to make it accessible to me. Any advice is appreciated. Edit: found a workaround. Adjusted the levels a bit. Sounds better, but it’s too mid heavy for my taste. The sound is unbalanced and could really use an EQ. I’m going back to the Bose. Thanks for the video buddy, much appreciated!
Hi bro iam form India I have Sony ht-a5000 full set iam happy with bar sound rear sound but I didn’t get bass bro plz tell me how can I increase bass on sw5
Follow the setup instructions I give in the video. Raise the subwoofer level to about 3 or 5. Then, while watching your content, raise the subwoofer level to 8 or higher with the button on the remote. That should be PLENTY of bass.
Hi dude Thanks that's a great help and good to know But i gone into audio setting and turn off audio DRC to off it makes things louder and clear Cheers mate Dave
I have the Sony a5000 HDMI soundbar connected to my Sony XR65A80J TV and my ps5 connected to that…but the problem is that with the ps5 I have to have the volume at 30 when playing games , even after playing with my settings as you described. The TV is better but the ps5 sound remains unchanged. U think I have to adjust the tv settings? Although that seems unlikely since the TV sound is ok.
Hello everyone Please tell me, on the HT-A7000, where the side paired speakers play only one speaker at the edges, the neighboring one is silent, that is, one speaker plays on the left side of the soundbar and only one speaker plays on the right side of the soundbar. I tried to run content 7.1.2, the same thing, I already started thinking that it was a marriage....It's always been like this, only now I'm starting to think. What's wrong? It seems that the HT-A5000 is not inferior in this regard, since there are no paired side speakers that work at half..
Turn Audio DRC off. Its a disaster for sound. I also found very early on that Advanced Auto Volume turned on increased the sound by ten volume notches. Good instructional video here
Hi man, I have ht-a7000 today, but it's "sound field optimization" doesn't run properly - it's never get sucsess to complete optimization, it has crash on 31% of progress bar. Meanwhile I have only manual settings, and all work properly I can adjust em. But I want to get and auto optimization too. Maybe you have some ideas what I can to do to fix it. Thx for any help. I ve done full reset but it won't help, also checked the software version it's the newest.

I bought this sound bar HT-a5000, initially not able to enjoy the sound. But it started working lot better when switched off auto volume in my tv.
Thank you! Great vid. It does make the system sound better. I’ve kept DRC off, as I found that voice can sometimes “clip” when it’s set to auto. 😊

I was thinking the same thing when he was explaining that part. It didn't make sense.
When will the new version of sony's compact speakers launch ,even tho I'm using the XB 100 and I love it ( just wanted to know when )
Hopefully we'll hear something within the next couple of weeks.

Hi Mr Stuff. Would you do optimization first and then change the distance levels and DBs or change them first and then optimize?
Do you know how to disable Demo button forever? My cats always step on the Demo button to turn this on and it scares me them a lot😢
Do you using auto 1 or 2?
Standard or compressed?

Amazing. Works setup for me. Thank you so much!
When you make all your adjustments do you do the 360 mapping again?
No, don't do it again. Doing it again would reset the adjustments you made.
@@NewStuffTV1 I’m sure you’re aware of this already, but if you don’t have the rear surround speakers you can’t turn on or off the 360 mapping.
The guy at Best Buy, did all this with his phone. What app was he using?
Most likely Sony Music Center.
