Likewise mate, I donno why but my hearbeat rose somewhat watching the match. Fed looked tired at the end of it but what an escape and amazing win. He's 37, anything he does now is a bonus but why cant we still see him losing a match. I suppose we could all benefit from a bit of emotional intelligence ;)

Joseph Li Quite amazing indeed. I am of the opinion though that Federer also coaxed Isner into giving a few of those points. If Isner had the mindset to actually set up the point properly on a few of those decisive points, it may have turned out different. From a logical standpoint, as Isner was already a set up, it was quite unnecessary for him to rush victory. His eagerness may have been what truly costed him.

Full marks to Isner for giving it all, he put everything he had on the court. But you get the feeling he gets a bit over-excited on the crucial points, over-tries and messes it up. Federer on the other hand, displayed remarkable equanimity on the decisive points. Mentally the big 3... Nole, Rafa and Roger are poles apart from the rest of the field.

    • @pomerlain8924
      @pomerlain8924 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

On the third MP, Isner hit a 138mph serve that wouldn't come back against most players. But Fed managed to block it back, and blocked it short, forcing Isner to come in, and Fed was able to pass him with the BH. I'm not even an Isner fan, but you gotta wonder what more he could really do.
And he did seem to let the negativity of losing that second set carry over into the start of the match TB. As was the case against Zverev.

worth noting that Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic are just a unique set of athletes. They know what it takes mentally and physically to not just win big matches, but to dominate and win them consistently. Don't take anything away from Isner b/c he is still a good tennis player...but you have to execute pretty much a flawless game plan in order to beat any of the Big 3. I'm honestly stunned Murray and Stan won as many slams and masters 1000s as they did

@@Ribizlaupm Please keep your judgements and pathetic conclusions with yourself....what Bogdan Ciuhat is trying to mention is some players don't play real tennis and are just ball returning machines....as tennis fans we don't like to see such tennis and want them to lose....also another reason being a fan of player on the other side so obviously you will want your favourite's opponent to lose.... Simple logic! Stop acting over smart

Some players don't play "real tennis"? And who the fuck are you to judge which player playing "real tennis"? 🤕🔫
"Ball returning machines"? so i guess that 2 out of 3 best players in tennis history are: "ball returning machines"? 😑
Are "real tennis players" for you servebots? Is real tennis when point lasts two strokes? Serve and volley style outdated 15 years ago if you didn't noticed. Such "ball returning machine" achieved something like no one else before, won everything: all 9 Masters, all 4 Grand Slams, Nitto ATP finals......Cry me a river now...

    • @vladimirstanescu6616

petty G Nah, real tennis is pushing the ball back in 30-40 shots rallies, waiting for the opponent to make an error or to drop dead from exhaustion in a 6 hours final after a 5 hours SF (2012 AO).
Joke aside, in my opinion , "real tennis" is that tennis where you see ALL the great elements of the game: serving, defense, net game and great point construction.
Unfortunately, with the courts slowed down to oblivion, the net game and attack tennis has almost become obsolete, making life easy for the baseline robots.
Here are the tennis courts ratings:
Grand Slam Surface Court Pace Rating
Australian Open Plexicushion Prestige Category 4 - Medium-Fast
French Open Clay Category 1 - Slow
Wimbledon Grass Category 3 - Medium
US Open Pro Decoturf II Category 4 - Medium-Fast
      Masters 1000 Tournaments
      Tournament Surface Court Pace Rating
Indian Wells Plexipave IW Category 1: Slow
Miami Masters Laykold Cushion Plus System Category 3: Medium
Monte Carlo Masters Clay Category 1: Slow
Madrid Masters Clay Category 1: Slow
Rome Masters Clay Category 1: Slow
Rogers Cup Pro DecoTurf II Category 4: Medium-Fast
Cincinnati Pro DecoTurf II Category 4: Medium-Fast
Shanghai Masters DecoColor Category 4: Medium-fast
Paris Masters Greenset Grand Prix Category 4: Medium-fast
ATP World Tour Finals Greenset Grand Prix Category 3 - Medium
As you can see, there are no more FAST courts after 2003, the fastest are MEDIUM-FAST. Wimbledon is MEDIUM and Indian Wells is SLOW, same as clay, a disgrace for tennis,
but a joy for the baseline robots.

Guess what? Longest tennis match in history is played by the two servebots, not baseline robots. That's interesting fact. isn't it??
Second thing. Obviously you have to adjust yourself to new conditions.
If courts were slowed down it had to be good reason for that. I don't blame Nadal and Djokovic because they managed to adjust themselves. Also, I think that previous tennis styles were boring and annoying. I watched Wimbledon finals Ivanisevic v Rafter recently and noticed that level of tennis back than was shameful. Every freaking point is the same like copy paste -serve and volley.

Gotto say, these Laver cup matches are exciting to see with the teams getting on court all hyped up at the change of sides. Both played really well, and Isner fought really hard. Insane return of Federer go get that first serve back at match point against.

This is a great match. But in this time of the season I've seen enough of player trying to outplay each other in thrilling matches. Time for some entertainment match just for fun. My favorite one is the Hit for Haiti in 2010 Aussie open. A true display of fun and brilliant tennis. I think we should do more of that!
