      True. Sock is a killer at the net ! I didn't know that.

    • @fundhund62
      @fundhund62 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Sock isn´t that great at the net, to be honest. He hits some nice drop shots, but he also missed some crucial ones, that were not particularly difficult. And while he is the best of those few guys who actually play doubles, I wouldn´t put him ahead of Federer or Nadal in doubles. Federer has better instincts, and a better overall understanding (although he is not all that impressive in the forecourt, either!).

  • @plutus2243
    @plutus2243 5 ปีที่แล้ว +580

    Wow! Jack Sock dominated this match; but Federer's volley skills, footwork and anticipation at the net are so impressive. Wonder why many people regard Djokovic, as the most complete player of all time? Maybe from the baseline, but Federer has the most complete all court game in history, IMHO.

    • @plorsomnia
      @plorsomnia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      People equate consistency with complete a lot. It's hard to be very consistent when you have an aggressive game like Federer.

    • @farid1406
      @farid1406 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Laver and Sampras were both much more complete "all-court" players than Roger, in the same way Roger is much more a complete player than Djokovic. Conditions and balls and string composition have transformed the game from generation to generation.

      Federer is FAR from the most complete all court player of all time.

    Team World takes the lead at 8-7 after this crucial win. For match #10, I think that Federer will beat Isner in a match tiebreak, then Anderson will beat Zverev in match #11, and finally it's a toss up between Kyrgios and Djokovic in the last singles match. I think there is a good chance that TW can win the title if it gets to the last match. Kyrgios is usually energized by this kind of environment (whereas I question whether Novak really cares about winning this). Further, the chicago crowd will certainly be on Team World's side should it go to a decider.

    • @multiplemike
      @multiplemike 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So far it's gone as I predicted, Fed beats Isner in a great match to give Europe back the lead at 10-8, it's really up to Anderson and Krygios now.

    They should put out a challenge to all tennis players.
    Any couple that can break a game against Isner/Sock with Isner serving will automatically be named the goat.

      Alex Brogan Yes Federer’s serve is a big reason for his success but he would still be a great player without that. Isner would be USELESS without his serve

    Very nice touch by Sock at the net, you can tell isners inexperience from doubles here, but sock was a monster
