Great video. I hope the flu didn't keep you from the yellow and white perch run this year. Can't wait to see one of those videos if you were able to make it, but understand if the flu got in the way.
Thanks Casey. Both flu and the weather have kept me off the yellows and whites. Hoping I might have a shot at em this week or next weekend before they’re gone, but man, every time I’ve planned to go, I’ve been sick or it’s flood levels from rain and howling wind.
I hear you. Got out last week and water was still high and zero viz. got one big white. Hoping to get out this week.
Good to see you out there fighting through it man! Headed to Blackwater late April with some buddies, hoping to find a few!
Late April should be 🔥 bro. I’ll be down that way too organizing a tourney 🎣
Did you catch any snakehead at Blackwater?
Because I know you love smallmouth, I got back -to-back 15” tanks in the Potomac yesterday. Great content👍
Nice smallies brother and thanks 👊
Love the snake head 😎
Congrats on your first snakeheads of the season! And a special thanks to you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experiences. Things definately warm up quicker on the Eastern Shore than here on the West. Curious to know if you noted the water temperature when your snakeheads hit?
Thanks Mike and happy to help. Water temp in that area/at that time was just over 50-52 degrees.
You are the man! How slow do you fish that Z man & what weight- if I may ask?
Thanks brother. I fish that lure just fast enough to make the blade spin and keep it off the bottom. Some areas I don’t mind bouncing bottom, but in this river, the bottom has a lot of decayed leaves and plants that can foul the lure.
And you can slow roll the heck out of it 👍
Pretty Fish, Pretty day too cool!
Thanks Stu! Almost all the action was from 3:45 - 5:30 PM. Had the whole day been windless, probably would’ve been on like Donkey Kong 😏
Good video bro !!!
Thanks Corey 👊
Gonna try to come back down either next weekend or early April.
Man that got me fired🔥🔥 up going down to the eastern shore md at the end of the month hope those snakes are biting.
If weather and temps hold it’s gonna be excellent. My buddy got his first on top today
Great vid thanks for sharing your experience and what you are learning.
You’re welcome brother. Thanks for watching 👊
More crab videos please! Also like shrimp and lobster catching videos! 😊
lol, I’m getting back into crabbing in a big way in 2024 🦀
Hey, I was thinking about going to Mattawoman tomorrow. Are the pads even gown yet? I havent been since last year.
Haven’t been yet this year, but I was on another Potomac tributary this weekend, and it had plenty of pads.
awesome vid bro
Thanks Brendenio 👊😜
Nice video Steven
Thanks Loan!
Nice video brother👊
Thanks bro. Now to cut shorts from it
Great video man, hope you're on the mend. Which species do you typically keep & which species do you typically release?
Thanks Jesse! I don’t often keep crappie any more, but when I do, self imposed slot limit of around 10” - 13”’.
I mostly keep Snakehead and Blue Cats now. Plenty of them and great meat. Much as I love em, most of the fish I keep are snakehead, probably because that’s what I spend most of my time chasing. And they’re arguably the easiest to clean and least fishy taste of any fish I’ve had.
Nice one. I guess their coming out also, not just bass
Thanks Vinnie and yes, they’re moving. My buddy got his first on top this year today.
@@KambotroutFishing that's awesome. I'm ready
Where do you go on Eastern Shore? My buddy keeps trying to lure me over there, but when Mattawoman and Port Tobacco are in my back yard I dont see the point in traveling over there.
Mostly Dorchester County, Blackwater area. A ton of marshes and rivers around there that hold a lot of fish and some great ones.
I wouldblike to catch some Snakehead in cleaner water though. Mattawoman is nasty so I dont eat many out of there, but I love the meat. I assume Eastern zzhore is cleaner for the most part.
Eastern shore is usually better water quality, yes. Very little of any industrial runoff there. Only areas to be concerned about are those near large chicken farms and their runoff.
In general if u only had one lure to give u ur best chance to go out everyday and catch a snakehead would it be a chatterbait?
Really depends on the structure you’re fishing.
Open water: Mepps or Chatterbait
Thick grass and Pads: Teckel Honker or preferred topwater frog
Also do u think I should wait 3 seconds when I feel a hit on the chatterbait or any subsurface lure just like with top water?
are you going to post any perch run videos this year?
I’m gonna try to get at least one out. Been killing me, but I’ve been too damn sick to make the yellow perch run this year. One day I felt well enough the weather went to hell and everything flooded.
Going to try for the white perch soon.
@@KambotroutFishing : when does White Perch run start on B.W .N.R ?
Did you release the snake heads?
Not on this trip. These ones came home for the dinner table.
Your voice could narrate a western lol
Thank ya kindly 🤠
Do you think at least a smaller snakehead would eat a chicken liver? Lol
lol, they’ll eat it eventually. They’ve been caught on cut bait before. Just rarely
🫡
Good thing you grinded through those few hours of nothing.
Should have brought some snacks. 3 hours would’ve felt more like 1.5 😏
Can you tell me this address? I want to try it.
I don’t give exact addresses, but I have made a video on how to find snakehead spots:
