The fact that Wilhelm literally hates August, and does not enjoy spending time with him, but still solved his financial problems for him, so he could stay at school 😭
The reason the character of August works as a worst villain than a murderer is the same reason why Umbridge was hated more than Voldemort.
Both represent close, realistic and posible threats to the main character. It's easier to encounter and August in your life, rather than a murderer, so most of us proyect someone real onto his character.
Props to Malte for doing an amazing job as August.

@@Naahi95 honestly, even in the height of my Harry Potter special interest, I felt absolutely nothing towards Voldemort. He was a vaguely interesting villain at times, but mostly he was just boring?

Like, I love Young Royals (which is actually my current special interest) because all the main characters (and a few of the side characters) have interesting and realistic wants, goals, morals, etc. Plus, they almost all develop in interesting ways. Eg: [ SEASON 2 SPOILERS! ] Wilhelm had to learn to take accountability for his actions, Simon had to learn radical acceptance (basically: sh!t happens, it’s not always in your control, you need to learn to accept what you can’t control unless you want to spend your life in misery), Felice sorta learnt to take control of her own life, etc.
Half of this episode is cute boyfriend stuff, the other half is just *pain*

Such a strong episode. The complexity of these characters is amazing, no-one is flawless, and the story is driven by a beautifully balanced combination of event and character. The standard of the acting is incredible, especially from Edvin and Omar (and, at the risk of triggering you, Malte as well). I’m super impressed by Omar delivering this level of range and subtlety in his acting debut.

Women writers and women directors, and really well and thoughtfully constructed. I completely forgive them it being only six episodes, 22 episode seasons get written on the run, this has been so well constructed, it could only have been written in advance. Writing, production, casting, intimacy coordinator, there are a lot of clearly talented people putting this amazing work together. The actors are great, but they are very well directed. You don't get that kind of performance that Omar gives, in a first role, without working with them really well.
I can‘t stop wondering what Erik would have said about all of this. Especially about August and his betrayal.
After their last conversation, I‘m pretty sure that Erik had at least an idea that Wilhelm is (also) interested in boys. He would have tolerated/accepted it and supported his brother!
…and if he were still alive and Wilhelm not the Crown Prince, I‘m pretty sure that the video would have caused furore and that they would have talked about the „gay“ prince for a while, but nothing more. Wilhelm could probably just be himself without having to hide. But so…
the continuation of his family depends on him. It‘s all about the legacy, the bloodline. His sexuality is not the „problem“.

I think if they do get greenlit for a season 2 they should consider some kind of flashback where they show that Erik might have known Wilhelm could have interest in boys. Or just some Erik and Wilhelm flashbacks in general, would be gratyly appreciated. I love Erik
The actor who plays August is great. From the first episode I hated him.
I'm pretty sure the guards knows what's up. They're duty is to protect the Prince from physical danger. Love isn't a danger.
With August uploading the video, part of that was because since there’s the unspoken rule of “what happens at Hillerska stays at Hillerska” (which is actually the reason Wille’s mother sent him there), August felt that Wilhelm broke that rule by telling the society guys about August being technically broke, which was mostly what led to him uploading the video as “payback”.

Love your reactions! Just a thought though - Everyone agrees with Simon being angry at Wilhelm for letting Alexander take the fall. Yet most people fail to recognize that not only Wilhelm was in the wrong - Simon was the one dealing drugs and dealing drugs is considered a more serious crime than consuming drugs in Sweden. Add the fact that Simon also stole them from his father, and we get a situation where Simon's crimes are actually worse than Wilhelms. While in a perfect world all the boys from the party as well as Simon should have taken the consequences of their actions, this solution where Wilhelm literally saved Simon was probably the best outcome for those two. And Simon has no right to act all high and mighty about it...
But the most important part - they are young. Of course they will act, and talk, irrationally every now and then! I don't think anyone is solely mature, considerate and logical at the age of 16... And while they are old enough to know better (than to deal or do drugs), maybe this was for the best. The school don't seem keen to take legal actions (or else the police would have interrogated the boys from the party), and Alexander is from a family that can ensure that he will still be getting a top class education, something that Simon would not have gotten. And if Wilhelm had taken the fall, it would have been international news, and the speculations would have never stopped - had he changed school for a second time during his first semester in high school everyone would have known something serious had happened...

@@mellowtopia5376 There is nothing to re-evaluate. Yes, she shouldn't have done what she did, but it's easy to understand where she is coming from. Plus, she is someone with autism, which is why she has difficulty picking up on social cues and differentiating between right and wrong.

She has flaws like all the characters and sure, I was mad at her in the moment but reflecting back on it, I understood it also because she felt deeply betrayed by Simon (when he lied to her about seeing their dad). I'm actually interested to see where her character goes should there be a season 2 (which I'm desperately hoping for). Has she fucked up? Yes. But all characters have at one point or another in different ways, and I don't think this means she's a bad person that can't come back into our good graces. She's not August-levels deep on the shitlist.
While I agree with the sentiment, personally I was seeing her as someone who could do no wrong (in terms of betrayal) so to see her do what she did really did make me re-evaluate my view on her. Its more so because I held her to too high of a standard which isn't her fault.

I love watching your reaction videos to Young Royals. This show has made such an impact on so many people for all of the right reason. The realism applied to this show is so perfect. The actors are not perfect, flawless human beings - they are real and have the same issues that we have all had at some point. The chemistry between Edvin and Omar as the leads is STUNNING. You feel their emotions. I have watched the series three times and will watch it again. I haven’t had this type of reaction since I watched Call Me By Your Name. Looking forward to your Episode 6 reaction. We need to make sure that this show gets picked up for Season 2…3…4…5…and on and on. Keep being remarkable. ❤️

Letsss goooo, Clicked as soon as i saw this pop up, been looking foward to this one and the finale.
Ok Wilhem saved Simon from suspension, but the society let Alexander down, and that is fucked from Wilhem part. Simon fucked up too, selling the drugs, and doesn't take any responsibility or team up with Wilhem, letting him dealing with the situation, I didn't like it either. I would have preferred them to handle it better.
The couple wake up moment, and the fish moment are so peaceful, and beautiful. It made me happy. It was their only moment.
For August I think he represents what Wilhem hates in his royal life: elitism, indifference, royal duties....
In the same way I feel Simon represents all Wilhem wants for his "ideal" life: free speech, care, respect, happiness, and beauty.
Both boys represent his struggle for me.

I had such a hard time truly hating August, because the actor is so good at really making you feel for him, but at a certain point i was just like "no fuck this guy you deserve what's coming for you!" xD

I had to restart your intro because the expansion of the ATLA and LOK merch pulled my attention! In your episode 2 reaction when Wille and Simme kissed you were like "I thought this would be like episode 5". We've come so far but then August pulled the worst August stunt of any August in history! Like I'm low key mad at the whole 8th month right now but I also feel sad for him too!

Thing is, Simon isn't blameless. He did supply the drugs. Poor Alexander takes the fall cause everyone is trying to minimize the damage and cover their own asses, including Simon. But Wilhelm is watching after Simon too. None of them are perfect. Honestly I find Wilhelm least culpable.

Simon isn't innocent here either, he's the one who stole the drugs for August to sell. So it isn't only the prince who fucked up... If they had expelled Simon instead of Alexander it would have been Simon's own fault. So maybe he should have thanked Wille? 🤔

Maybe I am too forgiving of a person or just too old lol, but I can't hate August. He does shit things, more shit things than anybody I guess, but I've known too many Augusts in my life to 'hate' him. He needs a comeuppance and I'm pretty sure that's S2 will deliver on that (if we get S2, which we all agree we must!). Maybe it's because he's fictional, I don't even why, but I'm pretty interested in him and what made him the way he is and what drives his actions. There were also some hints here and there in regards to August's personality and what formed it in the earlier episodes, so I hope this will get explored some more later. I think we can all agree that whomever is likely to have a tragic ending to all of this, August would be top of the pile. :)
