Edvin is a brilliant young actor. He communicates so well non-verbally…. with his eyes, facial expressions, gestures, touch, body language. The viewer knows what Wilhelm is thinking, feeling, experiencing, and emoting without saying a word. Just brilliant.

The scene on the football field is one of the highlights for me. Considering that earlier in the episode he has told Simon to delete all their texts and that he couldn't carry on the relationship but he then realises that what he has with Simon is the most meaningful and genuine thing in his life. Plus Simon , who he has pushed away, rushes to help him. Also him telling Simon "You're so beautiful" - it just killed me. Also the scene that follows in Wilhelms room is really special as the chemistry between them is just so natural, nothing seems forced, it just seems so real.

I was fully vibing with Wilhelm and Simon until August was lurking around the corner. I kept screaming CLOSE THE CURTAINS NOW!!! I knew August was going to be on some bullshit. It doesn’t surprise me that he would whip out his phone and record like a creep. The way my heart started beating so fast I thought it was going to burst out of my chest.

At first August didn’t realize it was Simone. He thought Willheim got a girl and took the video to brag about him with the guys. Still creepy but not evil….that comes later.
Potentially controversial opinion: as much as I love Simon and Wilhelm and root for them, I was SO pleased that they made Simon angry and a bit distant In the football field scene. I am sure by that point, though loving Wilhelm and being concerned first about his safety, he must have felt very jerked around. For an out gay kid, being constantly rejected then pursued by an unsure Wille must have been so hard to take. His frustration was clear and felt right. It showed some needed self-preservation.

That and the fact that Wille was high. Simon probably wasn't too happy that he had to take care of a wasted person, considering his experience with his dad.
@@EmmarainePink that just reminds me, you know how when Wilhelm goes to grab Simon’s face (I know it was meant in a nice way) and Simon jerks back? I think it’s because of when his dad basically grabbed him by his face and forced Simon to look at him. In that scene I genuinely think Simon saw so much of his dad in Wilhelm and it must’ve really hurt.
@@EmmarainePinkyes, this. i also like to think that we're pretty strategically shown the scene with simon's dad drunk and passed out earlier in the episode. it explains simon's anger so well, he doesn't want wille to end up like his dad.
The uninhibited way in which Wilhelm says "You're so beautiful" makes it my favorite moment of the series. It's the moment when Simon goes from longing for affection from someone of a higher status to receiving affection unconditionally, and when Wilhelm fully humbles himself and makes himself emotionally vulnerable after four episodes of careful flirting.
Just to make one thing clear, edvin who plays wilhelm said himself that he isnt labeling wilhelms sexuality and there is a reason for that. No need to label ur sexuality if you dont want to and I think thats very important to know.

I agree we shouldn’t make assumptions, but thus far he’s shown no interest in any girl and only Simon. Maybe in season two it will get more complicated but from what they’ve shown us so far, he’s gay until proven otherwise… lol
The football field scene is the director’s favorite scene from S1 because she said it was the result of hard teamwork: Edvin’s acting and improvising, along with the song that is such a vital song to the show, then the editing of all the little moments and things Wilhelm does when he’s high, and the feelings between him and Simon literally shining through the screen. It all came together so beautifully in that scene.

The chemistry between Wilhelm and Simon is amazing. The acting is phenomenal! Just think about that Edvin, I guess, was only 17 by filming those scenes and for Omar it was his first acting role at all. Besides I heard that lots of the most iconic scenes, like the one on the football field, are improvised.

That just made this episode sadder
the first time I watched this scene I didn’t get why Simon was so mad at Wilhelm. But then i was reminded of just how much Simon’s dad has put him through and how many times he’s probably experienced him high like this. Suddenly it makes sense why he freaks out seeing wilhelm in that same scary situation. Poor Simon, going through so much :(((( (and Wille)

@@ripgeorge2957 I got the impression that Simon was so mad at Wille here because he had been really worried about him. I mean, getting a call from someone who is obviously not in their right state of mind just after that someone has experienced a major loss, then rushing there to see him lying motionless on the floor. That also explains his first question "What have you done?" I think Simon was really scared there and when he saw that Wille was drunk and high, his fear switched to anger, which is a very normal and relatable reaction. Of course, it must have been extra hard on Simon because of his dad, but I didn't feel like this was the main reason here but just added to it
Your reaction to the sex scene between August and Felice was so spot on! Your looks of disgust and cringing were absolutely the correct response to August ‘keeps his socks on’ of Årnäs’s attitude towards that poor girl. We already knew he was a bit dodgy from his comments to Erik about Felice back in episode but to see him actually treating her so badly and her taking it because her self-esteem is so low was not comfortable. The contrast between their scene and Wile and Simon’s consented, gentle and tender scene couldn’t really have been much greater.
Definitely with Madison on this one, just dump him Felice!
My favorite moment of the episode was that despite having deleted Simon's contact and being completely drugged, Wille remembers his number and calls him.

After I watched this show I got my best friend to watch it. I remember her saying when Wilhelm and Simon were getting it on she was like is the door locked. All I kept thinking was babe don’t worry about the door worry about what’s going to happen over at the window.

Am I the only one who thinks that August was, at first, just ~being silly~ like taking the video just to probably tease Wilhelm (i don’t condone this but given their school’s culture its not surprising)? He was shocked as well when he saw that it was a guy and immediately stopped the recording. You could see in his face that he wasn’t expecting nor hoping to find that out right then and there.
Exactly my thinking. He probably just wanted to tease Wille with it (not an excuse!), but when he realised he was with Simon, things changed drastically.
He still could have erased it.
@@georgeweatherford1027 oh ya definitely! I think this really made the whole thing awful. When he stopped recording, I thought that maybe it was because he wanted to “protect” the royal family, but if he really did, he would’ve deleted the video. I was just saying that outing the prince was probably not the purpose he had when he first took it.
But yeah that kind of thing would fit right in to a "boys club" kind of culture.
The real question is why he had to keep watching the video. I know he struggled with what to do with it but he was fascinated by their relationship. I truly think he is jealous of both Simon and Wilhelm. He wants what Wilhelm has and wanted the closeness between Simon and Wilhelm. August is jealous of the fact Simon knows himself and comfortable with it.
I just love how you guys got sucked into the drama of it all like the rest of us. Jeezus... We all really did. I love witnessing your emotions (rollercoaster no?) and also how you appreciate the acting and cinematography of this series, which is outstanding in my opinion. And it's clear you're invested when you start adressing the characters as Wille and Simon, in their original pronunciation, which we all did at some point, ha. Is this a great series, or what? Really looking forward to see the rest of your reactions. We need a second season so badly.....

The actor is cute and probably a talented actor… after all he’s been good at making us absolutely hate him while still offering us layers that help us understand some of his actions. Maybe he would have been an okay Simon but the actor who plays Simon is so perfect for the role. He’s sensitive, has a fragile handsomeness that’s both masculine and feminine in the best way, is likable and charming and yet frequently makes bad decisions. He handles it all with ease… and that VOICE!

I've watched the football field scene so many times! I've even watched it with Swedish subtitles! Do I speak or read Swedish you ask? No, no I do not! I had to learn my favorite part though which is when Wille says "Du är så fin, du är så fin" to Simon! I would bet money that Wille remembered Simon's number the second he got it!!

@@k1988smith yes! And that he also improvised just as much as Edvin. My favourite improvisation by Omar is the fish-scene in Simon’s room and that he named the fish after his old band-mates. When I heard the names I started laughing like never before.

Madison, Felice’s roommate always speaks English because she’s from New York and she isn’t confident in her Swedish though she can understand it and since 95% of Swedes can speak fluent English, she can get by with speaking English
I fell absolutely head over heels for these characters and binged watched this show the other day. Everything feels so pure, and makes me feel like I'm figuring out my feelings with Wille and falling in love for the first time😭 And the acting is so amazing - I love seeing you guys watch it all for the first time 😍😍

For some reason when I watched this Netflix started the episode a few minutes into it, and I didn’t realize that until right now. Still, I think I got the gist of everything. I haven’t seen beyond this episode yet, but I wonder if August is going to use this against him or sees this as a possible problem in keeping the nobility alive and therefore feel the need to hide it. He certainly seems taken aback by what he’s seen.
I've seen Young Royals like 5 times already but I absolutely love your reactions on it, worth it to watch the whole show another time!😝
