Wee, doggies~~I love this QOTD: I buy sodium bicarbonate in bulk~~50# bag of generic baking soda, and I store it in a 5 gallon bucket. I fill a quart jar for my kitchen for cooking, sometimes I put it in an old Parmesan shaker container and use it for scrubbing my bathrooms. When making homemade laundry powder, I bake 9x13 casserole dishes of it (400 degrees F, for an hour or so) to transform it to sodium carbonate~~washing soda. (I also make my own laundry bar soap with coconut oil as the fat and use that in place of Fels Naptha or Zote.) In this way, a cheaper bulk of baking soda has many uses. We like the Classico brand pasta sauces. I buy them on sale, then reuse the jars for holding spices and herbs, tinctures, etc. The larger sized ones can even be used for canning as the flats and rings (regular size) fit them. We keep chickens and I wash eggs when they are dirty. I cut up old stained t shirts, etc. and keep a cookie jar of them beside my sink to use for egg cleaning, then I throw them away. I get a lot of small rags from a t shirt. I buy cheap shampoo, bubble bath, etc. (Whatever is the cheapest at the time) for re-filling hand soap containers (if you do the foaming soap refills, you get even more for your money...). When the bottles are empty, I place them in the kitchen sink when I'm running dish water and direct the stream of hot water into the bottle, so that it fills and overflows. I get a lot of extra soap from an "empty" bottle. Then I toss the bottle. I save dryer lint and TP/ paper towel cardboard rolls. I fill them with lint and make fire starters for our winter wood stove fires. You can also pour melted wax ( saved from the ends of candles, of course...). I save the containers from cool whip, sour cream, cottage cheese, etc. for sending leftover home with people. I don't lose tupperware and they don't have to return a container. I realize some of these are a bit off topic, but in the same neighborhood, lol... I save lotion bottles (I have extremely dry skin.) and refill from a gallon size lotion that I buy in bulk. Once, my husband was re-fashioning my Mom's old dining room hutch~~into a kitchen island for me. We didn't know what to use for a surface for prepping food, cutting, etc. without spending a lot on a piece of butcher block or counter top. I bought 2 wooden pie boards and he attached them both to the top for a food prep surface. I've gotten lots of compliments on it! I re-use pretzel/chip/bar mix containers (like the UTZ brand containers...) for storing large amounts of herbs, flour, sugar, etc. We re-purposed an old waterbed frame into a book shelf. We stood it up, added shelves (which had been given to us when a store closed), painted it, and stood against the wall, anchoring it for safety (it's heavy!) We repurposed the headboard (it has large divided sections and a top piece) to sit on the floor next to a doorway and hold boots, gloves, etc. There are many more, but there's a good sampling. I absolutely love repurposing and upcycling!
I just reused the foaming soap dispenser that I got for Christmas. Very economical. I used very little liquid soap to refill the container. Actually used body wash that I can no longer use.
I'm going to try the baking doda hack for making washing soda. I'd love to know how to use coconut oil in place of fels-naphtha if you coukd explain it. Anything to cut down on special ingredients just makes sense.
Great video Emmy, and what great deals you got. What I use in a different manner in which it was intended. 1. Dawn dish soap. I use it for dishes yes but I also mix it with vinegar and water(equal parts) and use it to kill fleas. Both in the yard and on our dogs. 2. Dryer sheets. After I use them for my clothes, I use them on my Swiffer, instead of buying the actual Swiffer sheets. 3. Pool noodles. I don't use them in our pool. Instead I cut them down to fit into the very back of a tall kitchen cabinet. Because I am kinda short, every time I reach for something on the top shelf, I end up pushing it further away and out of my reach. The pool noodles take up the space which prevents the cans or boxes from being pushed back. This allows me to be able to reach and grab what is up there. Other things I use pool noodles for are, to on top of my scream door to help keep bugs out. And in the back of drawers to keep silverware baskets from sliding around. There really are lots of uses for pool noodles. 4. curtain tension rods. Yes I use them for curtains but I also use them to create a shelf. By putting four of them close together and tightening them between two cabinets it allowed me to create a shelf above my kitchen sink. 5. Downy fabric sheets are not good for just laundry but they are excellent for getting baked on and I mean really burnt on pots and pans clean. Just lay one flat in the burnt pan, add water and a drop of dawn dish soap and let set for awhile. The burnt on stuff will slide off. Works great on stove tops too. I usually let it set overnight. 6. Kitty litter can help get more traction under a tire if stuck in a slippery hole. 7. I use toothpaste for cleaning jewelry. 8. I use toothpicks for cleaning out the holes in a salt shaker or other spice bottle when they get clogged. 9. I use saltine crackers or rice to absorb moisture inside salt shaker's and other spices. 10. I will buy candy canes on clearance after Christmas. I then grind them up and put in a canister so that I can add the ground up peppermint powder into hot tea or hot cocoa. I do this instead of buying the peppermint syrup. 11. I've used rope to make handles for a tray or dresser instead of metal knobs. The rope gives it a country look. 12. I use rubber dish washing gloves to help me open up tight jar lids. 13. I know this one will seem weird but a toilet bowl brush makes a great back scratcher. Make sure you use a brand new one and only use it as a back scratcher and don't accidentally use it to clean the toilet. These are a few of the things I use in different ways.
I have frozen eggs in my freezer now. I don't keep a lot of food in my freezer in case the electricity goes down. I stick to canned and dry goods for long storage.
One of the most-often-used substitutions I can think of for me is a buttermilk hack for baking. I never buy buttermilk but when a recipe calls for some, I measure out just shy of the amount needed in regular milk then add a splash of red cider vinegar. Let sit for 5 mins. or so. The vinegar slightly curdles the milk and adds a tang. Proceed with the recipe. I have used this for pancakes, muffins, banana bread, cakes, etc. I learned this years ago from The Tightwad Gazette newsletters/books, among many other frugal tips.
Happy Father's Day to Paul. Take a silicone muffin pan and use to freeze things like eggs that are going to expire. Crack one egg into a muffin cup, freeze, remove when solid and freeze in a bag when needed for baking. Can be used for other things as well. My other one is 2 round cake pans and a bag of marbles. Put the marbles in the bottom of 1 cake pan, put the other cake pan on top and presto.....instant lazy Susan! Great for the camper and also works in the fridge.
Great aluminum foil invention, my lifelong farmer Uncle always used a shot glass placed in a warm kitchen windowsill to root his tomato suckers😏Congratulations on reaching 25K !!!!💜
Coconut oil is our go to for creating homemade hand scrubs, lotions, hair treatments, etc. Creating the hand scrubs is my favorite go to for gifts, you can do all kinds of scents with just ordinary things in your kitchen; sugar, coconut oil, coffee grounds, vanilla extract, orange, lemon or lime rinds , just to name a few.
We're going through winter at the moment in Australia. This means covid season and mask wearing. I have trouble with homemade masks and find breathing difficult, so I use the disposable masks. When I've finished wearing my single use mask, I'll remove the straps that go over my ears and reuse them. I tie a knot in each one to make a band. I then can use them as I would an elastic band.
I did not know you could create new tomato plants, thank you for the great tip. Happy fathers day to Paul. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Lots of love. ⚘
Hi there. I never watch videos that's longer than 15 minutes. Just can't. But when I check yours and see that it's longer than 20 minutes I get so excited 😊
Thanks for the idea of using the hot cocoa mix. I'm going to try it. Probably a lot of folks do this, but I use clothes pins to shut bags of chips instead of chip clips.
Question of the day answer is in my craft room, I use glass salt and pepper shakers to store small seed beads. Also ordinary olive jars with a hole drilled in the tops to dispense string, ribbon. Vintage earrings turned into magnets. Fun to use your imagination. Your recipes are always amazing. Hope we get to see your flea market treasures ❤️ Need to check out the dollar general penny sales! As always, thank you for sharing
I might have to look at the dollar general penny deals, I live in a small town, it's basically the only store in town. So I shop there at least once every two weeks to so. As far as the question of the day goes, my parents before they redid their fireplace surround, and really pretty tile. I always liked it. The tile got turned into trivets. I also had some antique glass knobs, and along the some leftover canvas material and a scrap piece of wood, turned it into a necklace/bracelet holder that I hung on the wall.
It's been said with the tomato suckers, you can just plant them in soil, because they already show hairline roots. I've never tried it myself. Congratulations on 25,000 subs, and Happy Father's Day Paul!
Homemade egg noodles (everything from lasagne to stroganoff) is cheaper and healthier than the dried stuff (I always sprinkle in some extra bran and wheat germ to boost the nutrition). BUT it is a royal pain to roll out and cut the noodles. I use my large tortilla press to create lovely flat disks, then cut the noodles with my pizza cutter. It works a treat and is a lot less labor than either hand-rolling or using the attachment on my KitchenAid mixer.
We have a raised bed with tomatoes planted. Marigolds are beside the tomato plants. I noticed a hole had been dug the size a mole would make. I hope whatever it is won't eat my plants. We have cats so hope they catch whatever it is.
When tater tots are on sale I stock up because I use them as is and also I thaw them in the microwave, put them in a pan with bacon grease, use my potato masher to mash them and they make the best hash browns.
Hi Paul, you need to start reading one of Emmy’s cookbooks and look for dishes you think you can make- then ask Emmy to make them and watch closely how she makes them. Maybe freeze the Leftovers. Then at Emmy’s birthday follow the recipes from the cookbook and do it like Emmy did. Wash your hands first and wear an apron. ❤All the best.
Another great video! I'm currently working through my pantry and using up older items. I'm at the point where I only shop loss leaders and perishables. I'm saving a TON of money that way. Thanks for the Dollar General tip!
another amazing video. I am going to try to hit up my Dollar General this Tuesday. For me the thing I substitute is cream cheese for milk. When I am making a recipe that calls for milk I simply add the same amount of water and 1/4 a block of cream cheese instead. You have to make sure the cream cheese melts into the water but it works perfectly for me. Cream cheese is much cheaper then milk when it goes on sale and freezes beautifully.
:) I use a dash of hot coco in ny coffee all year round 😄 makes it a budget mocha! I am always looking for it on sale. I use spanish moss (grows on all the trees around here and it is always falling down) as a filler for the bottom of all my garden pots! It keeps soil from falling out the drainage holes, it helps hold a little extra water the plants can pull out later, and it eventually decomposes into fertilizer! :) best of all it is free!
Well, looks like I have to find a Dollar General store! Thanks for sharing that! I've used wooden dowels as curtain rods. I've used pillow cases as kitchen curtains. I used the leftover fabric from a dust ruffle to make a pleated drapery valance. I combined all my sizing squares from knitting to make a sort of patchwork baby blanket. I was a couple squares short, so I knitted a couple squares of fabric ribbon to finish it. In the kitchen, I've always used what I had and have made countless substitutions. It's always had a good outcome except for twice. I made an "everything in the kitchen" stew once. It tasted so bad I couldn't bring myself to eat it...even though I'm not a foodie and will usually eat anything I can, and even though I'd paid good money for all the ingredients. It was a surprise I couldn't eat it. I love tapioca pudding. Once I made it with plant based milk and butter, and substituted the eggs for plant based egg powder. First, it turned out to be tapioca soup. Secondly, it tasted too bad to eat. Other than that, my substitutions have worked just fine....well, except one more time when I didn't have cooking twine, so I tied together a length of twisty ties. Word was it tasted like metal. So, I never did that again!
Use macaroni from a box of macaroni and cheese to make pasta salad and use the cheese packet to make cheese sauce for scalloped potatoes or for any vegetable that you want to fancy up.
Great idea, especially about buying the cocoa mix on sale. Also loved the idea of buying Santas, Easter Bunnies, etc. from the holidays and crushing them up to store in the freezer or a mason jar with oxygen removed. Loved this video. So upbeat, too!
What an amazing haul at Dollar General!!!! Totally going to try that. And the brownies - definitely going to try that too. We always get a lot of hot chocolate for gifts each year and we don't really go through it that quickly. Thanks for a great idea!
I use mesh bags from oranges or onions as a scrubber for my cast iron frying pans. Bath scrubby is good for cleaning bath tubs. I've made my own yogurt using milk and plain yogurt as a starter (TH-cam has videos). I use wonton wrappers to make mini lasagnas in muffin tins, or mini key lime tarts. I try to use all wonton wraps once opened.
I bought way too much ham when it was on sale at .88. I portioned it into the freezer. I took some out and it looks freezer burned. Not throwing it away. Gonna cut off outer edges and use the interior. Gonna make a ham salad spread with the green onions I need to use up and some mayonnaise
I like using items from the kitchen for beauty. For example, sugar and coconut oil make a great scrub, honey makes a great hair mask (yes it is sticky but rinses out extremely easily in warm water), olive oil is a great substitute for moisturizer and apple cider vinegar for a scalp/dandruff treatment. They are far less expensive than beauty products, they work great and you only need a little bit and you can keep using the rest in the kitchen.
Oh Emmy, you rock!!! The penny deals were amazing! Please keep going on Tuesdays ;) And I'm going to try to bake that hot cocoa/brownie/cake. What a great idea. Thanks and many blessings to you and all your loved ones 💖
Just an FYI on the penny items at DG. I used to work there for over 3 years. The store manager gets a weekly list of the penny items that need to be pulled from the shelves because they aren’t supposed to be sold. IF the items don’t get pulled (they are actually hard to find sometimes because people that subscribe to penny sites actually HIDE them in the store sometimes), or the manager and employees (who are overworked and have many many things to do in a shift) simply don’t have time to pull them. When they don’t get pulled and a customer buys them, the employee gets reprimanded by management for NOT pulling the items. Severely!!! Just thought you would like to know this. By buying these products you are actually causing the employees even more stress than they are already under. I love your channel but I wasn’t happy to hear this.
Amazing penny deals. I have heard about those, but no dollar general here. If we had one I’d be there on Tuesdays! Thanks for the brownie recipe. I have lots of those hot chocolate packets, so I need to try those. Congrats on 25,000!
Hi Emmy! We made it to Ohio but we’ll be roughing it for a few days as we lost some things with the move and our movers will be late in delivery. But the Lord is telling it to let it go and not be mad. On a happier not I think my husband figured our the cable and internet, and we have our DVD player and DVDs so we will live. As for penny items, I usually don’t have much luck. But one day during their clearance sale deal, my son found a wooden spoon that came up to a penny and he was happy. I think he was about 5 months at the time, so this kept his attention and fascinated him for a while
I am a sewer but also like to save time and money. We have windows in our home that are hard to find curtains for so instead I bought tablecloths off of Amazon. I added cafe rings and hung them. I washed and ironed them first but they were perfect. Edges already finished and they are unique as there are more styles of tablecloths to pick from than actual window coverings and the yardage I would have needed to buy at the fabric store would have been more expensive. Our kitchen window is even more unusual in size so I cut a table cloth in half for that window and did a little finishing up on that one. Tip on the coffee: Folgers Black Silk is one of their strongest blends. If you buy that next time you might be able to use less and stretch the coffee further. Happy Father’s Day to Paul and all the dads and those who are filling in for dads out there.
Emmy,I so love the beginnings of your videos!👍 I also enjoy the information you share with all of us out here in you tube. Thank you so much! I love these ideas when many minds mingle for the same purpose,to be frugal and stretch what we have!
Cooked lentils can be used to substitute for one third to one half of the ground beef in recipes such as chili, sloppy Joe's, spaghetti sauce, etc. Cuts your meat cost in half, and no one will notice!
Happy Father’s Day, Paul. Another fun video. I had purchased some strawberry flavored oatmeal packets for my granddaughter. She didn’t like them. I searched and found a recipe for muffins using the packets. Next time I hope to have some fresh strawberries to add to the muffins.
There is a Facebook group for dollar general penny shopping. I have been seeing everyone’s deals. I just haven’t tried it yet. Glad y’all found some. Love the brownie idea. You come up with some of the best recipes.
I always enjoy your videos, but so far, this is my favorite! I have a Dollar General close by and had no idea about the penny deals. Thank you for sharing. Oh, and congratulations on 25,000 subscribers! Now, I'm off to make those brownies :)
Love your pan beautiful ! Watching from South Africa and following your hints . I use bicarbonate of soda 1 teaspoonwith 3 drops of washing up liquid in my dishwasher .
main thing right now to save on power: grill outside, or use your instapot, crock pot, rice cooker, kettle, or microwave inside so you won't be heating up the house and make the AC work too hard.
Emmy: ya just had to use that beautiful 8x8 ceramic pan for those brownies--I guess I haven't truly repented for my "coveting"!!!! :O Beautiful idea for the brownies---you guys are on a roll...KEEP GOING YOU TWO! So encouraging, so informative, so "upbeat"....you two have a "ministry" whether you admit it or not! :) We just love you out here in MN---your neighbors! :) Peace and Blessings to you and yours! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
Congratulations on 25K subscribers!?!🎉🎉🎊🎊🎉 Love your penny item deals! A fun treasure hunt outing. No Dollar General Stores by us but I love seeing great finds by others! I did snag free birthday items from our local store:. Betty Crocker cake mix, Bakery Cupcake, Hallmark Card (any price)....AND at Safeway we got the free pizza too. Great and inventive use of the hot chocolate packets! I usually give ones I've gotten for free or gifts away .... Have fun at your craft faire and flea market adventures...can't wait to see what you find! Happy Father's Day to Paul!
I learned about using aquafaba (Liquid from chickpeas) instead of eggs. I also use pickle juice as a marinade and a substitute for vinegar in salad dressing. I will try both the tomato sucker tip and the brownie recipe. Thank you.
Hi enjoy your channel and all your frugal tips everything looks so good we u cook or bake we have to be careful with sugar and certain fats so we eat more health y we in our late 70 so glad we found your channel just learn from thank u Happy Father to Paul Blessings to u both
Hi Emmy and Paul. I had some ranch dressing that was going to expire. I dipped chicken tenders in it then coated them with buttermilk pancake mix. I fried then in a little butter and oil. Everyone loved them. I tried the Dollar General thing but was unsuccessful. I heard an employee say something to another employee about penny items. I assumed they were proactive about removing them from the shelves. Maybe I will try again at a different store.
My sister bought some chocolate chip pancake mix. Never used it when the kids were visiting so I made cookies from it. They turned out great! I just followed the recipe that came up on Pinterest. Never know unless you try. I do so miss Shop-Rite. None where we live now. Congrats on the 25K!👍
@@FrugalMoneySaver She's telling the truth! There's a lady on Instagram that cleans with powdered Tide. You use 1 tsp per gallon of warm water. It's amazing! We use it on our floors, toilets and tubs. Everything's is so clean and no residue. Other than that we use a little Dawn and vinegar in a spray bottle with water. We save a lot on cleaning items.
I use 1/2cup vinegar 1 cup water 1teaspoon dawn to clean almost everything in my house. We have three dollar generals in my town! I have to step up my A game!!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Another great video! We have a lot of farms in our area and can get our eggs for only $2 a dozen. Hoping you both have a wonderful weekend 🦋
I swipe clean the plastic bags I place the fresh produce in at the supermarket and use them to store food in the freezer, fridge, take my lunch to work and line my small trash bins with. I use these for anything useful - free bags!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Hope Paul has a great Father's Day Weekend. Sounds like there are alot of fun activities planned. Enjoy and take care. Congrats on 25K subscribers 🎉🎈🎈🎉🎉🎈
Yum, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you've got a brownie sundae. I'm definitely going to give this one a try. I enjoy Oui yogurt and when it goes on sale I pick up a few. It comes in a glass container. It felt wrong to throw them away so I've used them to make candles, put small snacks like goldfish or nuts in for work. Most recently I gave some to my daughter and she makes her own baby food. She makes a big batch of whatever my grandson is eating that week and he eats some and the rest goes into my yogurt containers for another meal. I was able to get lids from Oui. It reminds me of the jelly jars we used for drinks when we were kids.
hi,all . I was successful in finding Sriracha chili sauce.finally. hudsonville ice cream, traverse city cherry fudge,or mackinack Island fudge are my faves. also lemon shortbread.
Well, now I know why my local Dollar Generals are always such a DISASTER! They always look like a hurricane went through! Thanks, Emmy and Paul, for another good video.
Broadway and Hollywood? that one went from clean, neat, proper stock to can't find anything, stock blocking aisles, dim, dirty, nasty, always with help wanted, yet not hiring
Great video as always. Great ideas and the brownies look great. I have cocoa packets and still have Halloween candy in the freezer. I can add M&M s or Reeses Cups on top of my brownies. Congratulations on 25000 subscribers. Now I'm starting to get jealous! I thought I was your best friend and come to find out there are thousands of others. You make all of us feel special. Something I reuse are hand soap scraps. I found what is called a "soap scrapy" on a video. It is a little crocheted pocket with a button closure that you put soap scraps in and it serves as a washcloth. This ways the little slivers get used up. They are great for the garage after doing yard work or working on cars, mowers etc. I crocheted my own but I've heard old socks with a rubber band closure work too. Enjoy your wonderful weekend. Sounds fun. I'm having breakfast with my cooking club friends and after church on Sunday we are going to ride our bikes and go to my husband's favorite pizza shop. He has been going there since he was in diapers!
I usually just stick the soap scrap to a new bar of soap with some water. The scrap stays on and gets used up in that way. No bowls full of soap scraps in this house, yay!
Hey Emmy and Paul, that was a great haul! especially the throw, it just goes to show that there are deals to be had if we keep our eyes open. My question of the day answer is that I mince fresh garlic and use ice cube trays to freeze portions 😊
Thanks for all your tips and tricks with tomato clips and a brownie recipe to boot!!! Food is so much cheaper where you live than where I live, ours is double what you show. Congrats on your 25,000 subs.
That looks like a great brownie recipe and great idea to use it vs buying a thing of unsweetened cocoa. I hope you had fun at the bazaar. Dawn Dishwashing soap is GREAT as a drain declogger. Cuts grease and soap scum. You put some down the drain and let it sit awhile. Then take boiling water and pour it down the drain. Voila. Your drain will work like new. I do it every couple of months for maintenance. You can go online and find exact measurements. It has to be Dawn though or the store brand version of Dawn. Other types do not work like Dawn does as it is a grease cutting soap. They even use Dawn to get oil off of animals they find still alive after oil spills as it helps take the oil off them but gently.
FYI Speaking of deal's after holidays. Ck out TJ Max, Marshall's and store's like that for Food deal's, they always have imported item's to make gifts from... Like making your own basket's. We have got so many packages of coffee for like $2-$3.... Such a fun find ❣️
I giggle every time you have Paul taste test something. He’s a very smart man…everything he tastes is awesome. Please make something that tastes bad🥴🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Oh my gosh I will so do that!!! Promise!
So, we all know his answer will still be, "Awesome!"
@@FrugalMoneySaver just don't tell him so we see his real reaction !!! Love your channel.

Wee, doggies~~I love this QOTD:
I buy sodium bicarbonate in bulk~~50# bag of generic baking soda, and I store it in a 5 gallon bucket. I realize some of these are a bit off topic, but in the same neighborhood, lol... I save lotion bottles (I have extremely dry skin.) and refill from a gallon size lotion that I buy in bulk.

Dollar General still has many items for a $1.00 that you used to get a Dollar Tree.
I saw that too Rena!
My neighbor went to a food bank and 2 cases of 12 oz tuna in water she gave me 9 great score for stock pile and tuna salad
That's wonderful!
I have frozen eggs in my freezer now. I don't keep a lot of food in my freezer in case the electricity goes down. I stick to canned and dry goods for long storage.
So smart Pat!
Yes, that really is a very helpful tip!
I do that too!
LOL! Yes! I showed those two hacks on my channel they are amazing!! Hope your feeling better...in my thoughts!!
eggs are food way way past their so called expiration date...like many foods!
You are so sweet to remember that!!! I just love you guys, you are awesome!🥰
Dishwashing liquid and vinegar do many used
I freeze my eggs too! It's such a wonderful hack! Good on you! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
Great aluminum foil invention, my lifelong farmer Uncle always used a shot glass placed in a warm kitchen windowsill to root his tomato suckers😏Congratulations on reaching 25K !!!!💜
Thanks so much!!
Sounds great! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. It's even not necessary to put the tomatoes in water. I put each straight in a pot with soil. Works perfectly.
😇
Good to know! Thanks so much!
So smart Wendy!!
I did not know you could create new tomato plants, thank you for the great tip. Happy fathers day to Paul. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Lots of love. ⚘
Thank you! You too!
Hi there. I never watch videos that's longer than 15 minutes. Just can't. But when I check yours and see that it's longer than 20 minutes I get so excited 😊
YAY!!!! What a great compliment! Thank you so very much!
Happy Fathers Day Paul
Thanks Peggy!
Thanks for the idea of using the hot cocoa mix. I'm going to try it. Probably a lot of folks do this, but I use clothes pins to shut bags of chips instead of chip clips.
We do that too Teri!
I do too!
Hope we get to see your flea market treasures ❤️
Need to check out the dollar general penny sales!
As always, thank you for sharing
Thank YOU for sharing Mary!!
I immediately thought that plush blanket would make a great present
Yes, for Dixie LOL!!!
The first rule of DG Penny shopping is we don’t talk about DG penny shopping. 😂😂
LOL!!! Oops my bad!!
Oooohhhh
That blanket... I'm so jealous
It was a fun find!
Great ideas Amy! So creative!
I don’t put my tomato suckers in water, I just plant them directly in the garden soil and they grow
Yes, Thanks Donna!
It's been said with the tomato suckers, you can just plant them in soil, because they already show hairline roots. I've never tried it myself. Congratulations on 25,000 subs, and Happy Father's Day Paul!
Yes, who knew LOL! Thanks so much Tina!
Oh no! I check my garden every morning for little critter damage!
Thanks!
Another great video! I'm currently working through my pantry and using up older items. I'm at the point where I only shop loss leaders and perishables. I'm saving a TON of money that way. Thanks for the Dollar General tip!
Keep food stocked as well though Linda, we don't know what's coming up this Fall.
@@FrugalMoneySaver yes, I'm stocking up far more than what is usual for me, another trip through Walmart today. Prices are rising so fast!
another amazing video.
AMAZING tip Erin! Honestly, very smart! Thank you!
I love Spanish Moss! Some of the trees by our Little House have it on them!
Thank you for another fun video. 😃
Thanks for watching Rhonda!
Yes! I think we all have those situations when you think it might work but doesn't lol!
Use macaroni from a box of macaroni and cheese to make pasta salad and use the cheese packet to make cheese sauce for scalloped potatoes or for any vegetable that you want to fancy up.
Thanks!
Great idea, especially about buying the cocoa mix on sale. Also loved the idea of buying Santas, Easter Bunnies, etc. from the holidays and crushing them up to store in the freezer or a mason jar with oxygen removed. Loved this video. So upbeat, too!
YAY! So happy you enjoyed the video!
What an amazing haul at Dollar General!!!! Totally going to try that. And the brownies - definitely going to try that too. We always get a lot of hot chocolate for gifts each year and we don't really go through it that quickly. Thanks for a great idea!
So glad the video was helpful Kathleen!
Great tips Sandra! Thank you!
Always great ideas!
Thanks Carolyn!
I bought way too much ham when it was on sale at .88. I portioned it into the freezer. I took some out and it looks freezer burned. Not throwing it away. Gonna cut off outer edges and use the interior. Gonna make a ham salad spread with the green onions I need to use up and some mayonnaise
Sounds perfect Julie!
liquid flavored coffee creamer.
I actually use it instead of oil in baking.
So smart Rochelle!
WOW
That baking dish is so beautiful ❤️❤️
OH thank so much!
I use the apple flavored oatmeal instant packets to make topping for apple crisp.🍎🍏
So smart Jennifer!
These brownies are great. Thank you Emmy
Thanks so much Debra!
So excited about that brownie recipe - I have a canister of Cadbury hot cocoa mix that I got for Christmas and I'm going to try it!
Perfect! Try it!!
Love these tips Katherine! Thanks!
Oh Emmy, you rock!!! The penny deals were amazing! Please keep going on Tuesdays ;) And I'm going to try to bake that hot cocoa/brownie/cake. What a great idea. Thanks and many blessings to you and all your loved ones 💖
Many blessings right back to you and yours!
Thanks so much for watching Diane!
I think he was about 5 months at the time, so this kept his attention and fascinated him for a while
Thank God you are settled safe in Ohio Jennifer! Thanks for letting us know! God's blessings in your new home!
Love that tip about the curtains! Brilliant! Yes, they were all out of the black silk!
Dawn soap and vinegar in equal amounts is an amazing bath tub and shower cleaner!
Paul totally agrees lol!
Wow, this video is full of great info - thank you
Thanks for watching!
Emmy,I so love the beginnings of your videos!👍 I also enjoy the information you share with all of us out here in you tube. Thank you so much! I love these ideas when many minds mingle for the same purpose,to be frugal and stretch what we have!
Emmy: dollar store haul? YOU GUYS ARE ROCK STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Good on the blanket...would make a great gift! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
Thanks Dawn! I actually always wanted to be a rock star LOL!
Great idea!! I will definitely try the brownies!! I have never found any penny items. I have looked for over a year!!! I just gave up!!!
Oh no Jackie! Not all stores have them I guess!
Cooked lentils can be used to substitute for one third to one half of the ground beef in recipes such as chili, sloppy Joe's, spaghetti sauce, etc. Cuts your meat cost in half, and no one will notice!
Great idea!!
I like this idea
We’ve done this! It’s very good.
Happy Father’s Day, Paul. Another fun video. I had purchased some strawberry flavored oatmeal packets for my granddaughter. She didn’t like them. I searched and found a recipe for muffins using the packets. Next time I hope to have some fresh strawberries to add to the muffins.
Great idea!
Or cookies that call for oatmeal. Will never pass up a deal for cocoa mix or oatmeal packets when I see one.
There is a Facebook group for dollar general penny shopping. I have been seeing everyone’s deals. I just haven’t tried it yet. Glad y’all found some. Love the brownie idea. You come up with some of the best recipes.
Oh so kind of you Cindy! Thank you!
I always enjoy your videos, but so far, this is my favorite! I have a Dollar General close by and had no idea about the penny deals. Thank you for sharing. Oh, and congratulations on 25,000 subscribers! Now, I'm off to make those brownies :)
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the support!
Happy Father’s Day to Paul!
Thank you! He had a great day!
Love your pan beautiful ! Watching from South Africa and following your hints . I use bicarbonate of soda 1 teaspoonwith 3 drops of washing up liquid in my dishwasher .
So happy you are part of our channel Waldette! Thank you!
main thing right now to save on power: grill outside, or use your instapot, crock pot, rice cooker, kettle, or microwave inside so you won't be heating up the house and make the AC work too hard.
Thanks for the heads up on the Dollar General deal! I'll have to check it out the next time I'm near a DG.
Absolutely Lindsay!
Dawn how I truly love your comments! Thank you dear friend!
Wish we had penny deal treasure hunts in the UK! Looks like so much fun and a great bargain!
It was!
Congrats on getting to 25K subs! And those brownies! 😍 Yum! Can’t wait to try them. We definitely have leftover cocoa from Christmas time.
Shannon thank you! You are always so kind!
Congratulations on 25K subscribers!?!🎉🎉🎊🎊🎉
Love your penny item deals!
Thanks so much Sheryl! Have a beautiful weekend!
I learned about using aquafaba (Liquid from chickpeas) instead of eggs. I also use pickle juice as a marinade and a substitute for vinegar in salad dressing. I will try both the tomato sucker tip and the brownie recipe. Thank you.
So glad the video was helpful Judith!
YAAAAAY! Another pink flamingo fan!!!
Love them!!

YAY!!!! Thanks so much for telling us Brenda! So glad you let me know it was you! Thank you!
That's a great idea about the tomato plants. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Never heard o DG’s penny deals, TFS.
Thanks for watching Beth!
Your meal sounded delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Sheila how creative! Great!
Question of the day response: A little laundry detergent makes a GREAT toilet bowl cleaner. Sounds odd I know, but it works!
Wow
I'm going to try that!
Interesting! Thanks so much Shannon!
Shannon, do you use powdered laundry detergent? I assume so because it would be more abrasive?
@@FrugalMoneySaver She's telling the truth! There's a lady on Instagram that cleans with powdered Tide. You use 1 tsp per gallon of warm water. It's amazing! We use it on our floors, toilets and tubs. Everything's is so clean and no residue. Other than that we use a little Dawn and vinegar in a spray bottle with water. We save a lot on cleaning items.
I use 1/2cup vinegar 1 cup water 1teaspoon dawn to clean almost everything in my house. We have three dollar generals in my town! I have to step up my A game!!
Great idea!! So fun!
I cannot believe that you got a full/queen plush blanket for a penny! Crazy but good!
So fun!!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Another great video! We have a lot of farms in our area and can get our eggs for only $2 a dozen. Hoping you both have a wonderful weekend 🦋
WOW! That's so great!
Great use up on those chocolate Christmas balls!!!!! 🎄🍫🍰 Have a great fathers day weekend! Paul your a pro! 👍
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the brownies recipe!
Love all your videos!
Thanks so much Susan!
I swipe clean the plastic bags I place the fresh produce in at the supermarket and use them to store food in the freezer, fridge, take my lunch to work and line my small trash bins with. I use these for anything useful - free bags!
So true! Great way to resume plastic!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Hope Paul has a great Father's Day Weekend. Sounds like there are alot of fun activities planned. Enjoy and take care. Congrats on 25K subscribers 🎉🎈🎈🎉🎉🎈
Thanks so much Karen! You are so encouraging!
Hi Paul. Happy Father’s Day! You are a great sport on your tasting food.
Always is...LOL!
I do the same!
Some great tips Rae! Thanks for sharing!
One time when I bought that yogurt the guy at checkout sniffed it and said, “Oh, I thought it was a vanilla candle!” Funny.
I love those little jars! I use them for a juice glass, or whenever I need a small container. I.have one in the fridge with bacon grease in it
hi,all .
I was successful in finding Sriracha chili sauce.finally.
hudsonville ice cream, traverse city cherry fudge,or mackinack Island fudge are my faves.
also lemon shortbread.
Sounds so delicious Rochelle!!
You 2 are so cute ….😊❤️ I will definitely try that recipe looks delish…Happy belated Father’s Day ….
Thanks so much Francine!
Congratulations on the growing number of subscribers.
Rhonda thanks so very much!
Congrats on 25k subs!! Wonderful deals ideas and who doesn't love cocoa and brownies - great together. thank you.
Yes! So good!
Congratulations on 25k
Thank you so much 😀
Congratulations on 25,000 subscribers . You both deserve it .
YAY! Thank you so much Mary!
Sheila you KNOW you are special LOL!! Enjoy your weekend as well my friend!
Brilliant video!!!
Oh thank you Pam!
Hey Emmy and Paul, that was a great haul! especially the throw, it just goes to show that there are deals to be had if we keep our eyes open. My question of the day answer is that I mince fresh garlic and use ice cube trays to freeze portions 😊
That's a great tip!! Sometimes I don't use my cloves quick enough and the tips go bad!
Thanks for all your tips and tricks with tomato clips and a brownie recipe to boot!!! Food is so much cheaper where you live than where I live, ours is double what you show. Congrats on your 25,000 subs.
So happy you enjoyed the video! Thank you!
Oh thanks for sharing! Great tip!
I got the three cheese cauliflower pizzas free too. It was one of the best store bought pizzas I've had!
We haven't eaten them yet. That's good to hear Kay!
FYI
Speaking of deal's after holidays.
Ck out TJ Max, Marshall's and store's like that for Food deal's, they always have imported item's to make gifts from... Like making your own basket's.
We have got so many packages of coffee for like $2-$3....
Such a fun find ❣️
Great tip! Thanks!
Some great ideas ! ( can’t do the penny deals as I am in the U.K.!)
Thanks Kim!
What an awesome video!!! Those brownies look amazing!!! So smart!!!
Thanks so much Tanna!
