Scotty Kilmer so i had my power steering pump replaced because of a high piched whining..1 month later it is now whining when it wants to but the tone of the noise is much deeper. The mechanic says it will do it again if he replaces it which is obviously an argument for him to get out of doing it. Could there be another reason why i would hear the noise. I've been watching your videos for a long time I have a whining noise in the steering wheel in my truck the power steering fluid is full there is no leak what could it be
Scotty my son is taking mechanics at the career and technology center at his high school and we absolutely love your videos! He won’t say it but I think he’s impressed when his mama knows a thing or two about cars which I’ve mainly learned from your TH-cam videos! Right now he has a 2005 z71 Tahoe I got him for his 16th birthday that started making a sound when turning at low speeds. I told him to check his power steering fluid and that was the problem :) we’ve also repaired the antenna, the gauge cluster dimmer switch, oil changes, and the fog light button that was broken all DIY

Mine was more of a rubbing sound so I hope this helps someone. Thank you for your good video.

Hi Scotty! I don't know much about cars, and I actually just stumbled on your channel as I was looking how to replace a radiator. I found your video, and I really enjoyed it! I have been looking through all of your other videos and I think you are awesome! Not only have I learned a ton, but I really like the way you narrate the videos. Your voice really flows! Mr. Kilmer, I was told more then 40 years ago not to use Teflon Tape on the power steering or transmission connectors and here you are doing just what I was told not to do so question how is the Teflon Tape working out for you is the fluid degrading the tape and later causing leaks or is it holding up over time ?

Hey mister! You're my Sensei. Excellent video as usual. I have a 2006 Honda accord V6 that is a poem in 4 wheels but recently detected a noise on the fluid reservoir so I guess some fluid got to be added. Hope this will be the whole thing. Scotty, your videos are sensational, I enjoy all of them but above all of this, they are absolutely helpful. Thank you so much for your help. Dear Sensei, I bow before you and send you my best wishes from Mexico.
I saw a jar of moonshine in the super market the other day. My Gran Pa used to make it and just pass it out in a plastic milk gallon. My Mom told me he took her on a two day ride to his site and explained the situation like this, "There's s mountain lion that lives in the cave above. If he get's us, you get on the donkey. He knows the way home on his own." Americans are hated to a small extent because we are so spoiled. People like Scotty help make us great again through ingenuity and self reliance. Wild Turkey helps me feel great!
Measure the pressure of the pump by pressure gage. And turn the wheel end to end while its running and reading is ok then pressure switch is fine. More check bypass by close to the gage valve for 4 seconds if pressure go high its bypass valve issue. If pressure go low the bypass switch works.
Just had a power steering switch leaking like crazy.... it Drained my entire fluid tank in minutes and led to smoking and bad noises like crazy. Replaced the switch.... Filled it back up..... After driving about 20-30 mins it seems to be back to normal. Noises cleared away " Fingers crossed 🤞". Hoping it holds and is not a pump issue.... Mine seems impossible to access - 2008 mercury milan. But so far not leaking and holding up. Great video and info 😁👍
For your viewers! I had a noisy power steering pump! I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan. I found out the the fluid in the pump was old stuff and contaminated due to age! I began sucking old fluid out of reservoir and adding new fluid. Then i would drive it and repeat this about 6 times. The pump got quiet and trouble is gone! James.
Kim Possible no,,,. Contaminated from age,,,. Should be replaced every 4 years,,. ??? Fluid is cheaper then a power steering pump or a rack and pinion,. If you do not replace the power steering fluid before 80000 miles,,,. You will be putting a rack in by a hundred and twenty thousand miles. ??? Roughly,,,
Hell yea Scotty!!! Another awesome vid. That car you worked on was a Lexus LS400 and has a the same 1UZFE motor and majority of the drive train and complimentary systems in common with the Beloved SC400. You Really killed it with this one, all the Lexus blogs are filled with guys like myself searching for a culprit and remedy for this problem. Unfortunately some are lead the way of Power Steering Pump replacement and unnecessary loss of money. I WILL SPREAD THE WORD, CHECK OUT SCOTTY KILMER!!
Quick question, my power steering on my 2002 Toyota Highlander may be having issues, but I have replaced the fluid but I’m not sure if all the air is out of the system. The steering is stiff when the car starts from cold, but once the car is warmed up it’s ok. And thank you for your help if you can see this.
Love your vids Scotty and your energy. I came here looking for some help due to a rattling steering issue in my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. There´s a lot of play in the steering wheel and when i go over uneven terrain theres a distinct rattling sound...not so much clunking, but a rattle from the steering column under the dash. Very strange. I know its a shot in the dark, but thought Id give it a try. Keep up the good work Scotty!!!
sometimes you may think your power steering pump is whining but it could very well be a bad bearing on one of the teflon idler or stationary serpentine belt pulley....
What's good. I'm going to check that part out. Because my power steering pump was already replaced and the O rings. And I do see the leak, it was driving me crazy.
Scotty, my Audi A4 B6 Makes whining sound when turning wheel after driving for sometime. When i start the car and start moving the noise is no longer there but after an hour the sound becomes bigger and its like rubber without greasing coming form my shock mounting rubber. the ATF level for steering wheel is fine. what could be the problem?
LOL! Like the moonshine bit! I got a 2015 Nissan Altima doing this sound and it's driving me crazy! Its more of a high pitch sound that comes and goes. Don't even need to turn the steering wheel when the sound comes on... I'll try and get it in for looking over at the dealership as we got the extended warranty. But viewing some posts, they consider this a normal sound and "NO" recalls from Nissan on this. Why not? This is an annoying noise that needs fixing from the manufacture. Thanks for your video...
Scotty here you use Teflon tape, could you also use RTV? I changed the water pump on my truck and when I looked at some of the bolts some of them had red stuff on them. I thought it was red thread locker, but I've come to realize it might have been red RTV. Do you think you could maybe consider making a video when to use thread locker, RTV on threads, anti seize, and grease on bolt threads?
Don't have a $1000 to fix my ml320 rack pinion lucas was to thick blew my line so i cut the boot off can't fix the inner seal so i made a outer seal with a cut o ring and JB weld no more leak and now when the rack goes in and out when i turn their is no fluid residue on the rack i learned this trick from Star Trek Chief O Brian
Hi Scotty! My 2000 Ford Ranger steering pump used to make a loud whine but after I did a full flush and added some royal purple, the noise is not as loud WHILE the truck is moving above say 10mph. But its still as loud as before while turning under 10mph. And its stiffer. Even louder when trying to turn while parked. There are no leaks or air bubbles that I know of.. Any fix to this?
There was a guy who died several years ago on the north part of the island I live on. The jack failed and the car crushed him to death. A jack is not meant for stabilizing the vehicle when lifted off of its wheels. Jack stands are meant for this purpose.
@@stanwardoshiro no the Jack's aren't designed for this but a descent Jack can stand in for a jack stand for quick and simple fixes especially if u don't actually own stands tho yes u are correct it is dangerous and should absolutely never be done with the dinky dink Jack's they give ubwhen u but a new car
Thank you for your video. the power steering pump broke on my 2001 Durango in a change it it and let it afterwards however it still making a noise, no more bubble in the Reservour when I bleed it and I'm not losing any power steering fluid either. Could this part be causing the noise the noise, thought not leaking?
Hey Scotty! I recently hit a curb in the snow with my 2005 Acura TL. Turned right into a small road at 15-20km/h and all the impact slammed into my left driver wheel. I need to get the entire suspension replaced on the left driver side but something strange also happened with my Power steering pump. I jacked up the car when I got home and turned the steering from one side to the other. I can hear gushing sounds from my car and my brother told me that fluid was leaking out the top of the cap. (With the cap ON) After a while, the liquid stopped leaking and when I checked the levels, it was exactly on the "upper" mark with the steering straight. What exactly happened here? My steering feels a bit looser. Easier to turn the wheel. Feels like a new hyundai santa fe in comfort steering mode but I know it should be like that lol. Thanks in advance,
it messed up the power steering rack too probably, but with all that damage, unless you have full coverage, get thee to a junk yard for used left side parts to save money
Yeah I drove 2 hours out to a junkyard that had a manual TL left side suspension. They're rare to find in Toronto. Replaced the suspension today and the car feels better. Power steering isn't grinding or leaking anymore when doing a full turn. Unfortunately the ABS on the junkyard part was busted so I'm trying without traction control... Mechanic also told me the subframe was cracked a little too which is bad news. I really don't want to spend $1000s+ to fix the subframe if it's drivable. Are there any risks to driving with the subframe a little cracked?
Hey Scotty. Love your videos, man. Quick question: I have the purring/whining sound when I turn my wheel. I was losing power steering fluid so I used some Lucas Stop Leak. Now, the fluid seems to not be leaking but I still have tight steering. Should I try adding more steering fluid or what? Thanks!
Hi Scotty, I have a 1996 Kia Mentor and this morning I heard like a knocking sound when I turn the steering wheel fully like after a stop or or at a slow corner. It doesn't occur in slight turns. The noise occurred both when turning left and right. Help greatly appreciated Scotty!
Scotty I love your mechanic fiy videos I have never tried your tuturials but I have a power steering leak, Just got rack and pinion done, Don't understand why all of a sudden I have a power steering leak, Do you think the shop mechanics fixed the rack and pinion and on purpose messed up my power steering to have a bad leak?
First thing my dad reprimanded us (my twin and I), for! Always put a jack stand under the car and let the car down on it! Had a dear friend lose his life because he did not use anything but a jack to hold the car up! His wife found him dead, under the car that had fallen off of the jack!
Aloha Scotty. My question to you is why is my temperature guage rising inside my car above 210 then comes down. Mind you, I had my radiator replaced and on receipt said the thermostat was replaced. I WILL NOT be going back to that shop so I want to fix my 2009 Murano on my own. What advise to you have? Is it a faulty thermostat or something else?. Thanks from Oahu, Kaneohe Hawaii. 96744.
My temperature guage rises well over 210 driving then drops back to normal when coasting down hill. My radiator was replaced by a shop and receipt shows thermostat was changed. My car is a 2009 Nissan Murano SL AWD. Service to my car was performed 3 weeks ago today. I will not be returning to that shop. Kinda iffy. My bill was paid and I am done with that shop. I want to resolve my cars issue.
Great info there, Scotty. But what is wrong if the power steering system is only noisy (growly sound) turning the wheel to the left (95 Mercury Sable)? PS fluid level okay. 36K miles. Thanks for all your videos -- dig `em!
Scotty, my power steering pump is making a whining sound, Not when turning the wheel but all the time. It changes relative to the engine rpm. I checked the fluid level and it is ok. Now, with that said, there is obvious signs of (slow) leakage as there is muck on most of the system. It does not do it idle, but as soon as any rpm is put into the engine. I took a stick of wood to use as a stethoscope to confirm it is the PSP. I suspect that the pump is going bad, so my plan is to put some die in the unit to find the leaks and then replace what's necessary and the pump also, 04 chevy astro with 123K. What do you think???
Scotty, do power steering leak stop products work? My son's Honda is starting what appears to be leaking from the power steering pump seal. No obvious loss of PS fluid at the reservoir, or any leaks on the garage floor, but I changed the oil the other day, and there is oil around the bottom of the power steering pump.
Another helpful video. Quick question Scotty, my steering wheel is a full half turn to the left with the wheels lined up straight. Its not alignment because the front wheels are not worn on one side. Steering makes a popping sound when i turn either direction. Is it a tie rod or steering column, ....? Also is there any easy way to check if its a tie rod, 1996 chrysler concord. Thank you
Scotty, can I jack up my truck and use that same procedure to bleed the power steering if I have hydroboost? I was planning to replace by power steering pump soon.
Hi buddy thanks for all your videos. I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 I change the power steering pump and the rack and pinion I realized that there is a noise still coming in from reservoir, inside the fluid is spinning like a swirl is not just sitting also when I put the cap on it starts leaking from the reservoir and I can't get rid of the noise I need your help
Hello Scotty! I love you channel! I have a 01 Durango. When I'm driving; I hear a squeaking that's developed on the passenger side front end. When I put my foot on the brake to slow just slightly. The squeaking stops!? And when I release to con't driving it squeaks again. [And also too mention]... at the same time when I turn steer to the right turning. I hear that gearing/low growl sound you were talking.
I've found with the 3D printed GM Saginaw power steering pumps which are an aftermarket aluminium replacement pump that where there's normally a Welch plug in the OEM pump but the aftermarket pump has a grub screw in the pump body from when they machine it at the factory & I pressurized the power steering reservoir with a 100 mL syringe which had a Small length of 1/4" fuel.hose attached to it. Well, when I pressurized the power steering reservoir I sprayed some soapy water around the grub screw & by capillary action I see red fluid being drawn out of the power steering pump through the threads of the grub screw. So, after I have some sleep I.will remove the grub screw then either apply some thread tape or most likely thread locker to prevent air from getting drawn into the power steering pump. What I mean if pressurizing the power steering system causes a fluid leak then air is getting drawn in under vacuum !
Hi Scotty love your videos! So my 98 Camry the rack and pinion was leaking. I replaced it with a remanufactured part over the weekend. It went well and I have no leaks but I have a question about turning the wheel all the way to the stops. If I go all the way either left or right I hear a squealing sound. There's a lot of confusion on the internet what this could be a loose belt a faulty failing pump? Kind of hoping you can clear this up! Other than going to the complete left to right the new rack is working beautifully.
Howdy Scotty, One day I was moving too fast and put brake fluid in my power steering pump. From that point on, when I steering the wheel has been making a whining sound at certain positions. I sucked all the fluid out and put new fluid. It got better but not gone completely. It now only happens when I turn to the left when under a load (actually driving). Any ideas on what I should do?
Hello Scotty you are a total bad ass mechanic I have 2002 Ford Aerostar noise when turning steering wheel, thanks for the info on this video is there anything else I should know regarding this problem on the 2002 Aerostar also I bought it used and wonder if you have heard anything extremely bad about this model . It drove pretty good got it cheap 130000 miles looks like it was maintained
Hello Scottie quick question, I did a complete flush on my power steering system on my 2005 GMC Sierra, I replaced it with the oil from Chevy dealer per the owners manual, but now it makes the grinding noise like in your video and didn't do it before the flush. Could it still be the switch? Thanks & great videos
Pretty cool Scotty! I'm always looking so forward to your videos. I wish you had the time to do them everyday. I know you don't have the time but maybe one day a rich relative will leave you some money. Take care
Scotty I know nowadays they've replaced hydraulic power steering pumps with electric motors and as you've shown us they've even started making electric water pumps. Have you ever come across electrical A/C compressors? I'm thinking that would be too much draw on the cars electrical system but it would sure be nice to have full ac performance at idle just as at cruising speed.
nice video now i realize what section to look for first on a power steering fluid system for leaks... rubber hoses first then steel tubes if the reserve is low ... curious obviously if the reserve is low is a good indication of a leak but will it always get low fast or is it ever easy to spot a leak power steering or brake system because the pressures are so high ... or do you need special dye like the ac system or other systems to pinpoint the leak....
+sam111880 clean the area of the leak. get a uv light and the oil dye. you can purchase it from pepboys. pour it in refill to level. then drive it for a few mile then inspect with a uv light. works everytime for me
Scotty I would be interested in your opinion of those old LS400s I've heard they are one of the most reliable cars you can buy, is that a bit of an overstatement?
Hello Scotty, what about Electric Power Steering? There's no Steering fluid. How to fix the steering wheel noise when turning? It makes a wind noise. Thanks
PS: This morning it was 30 degrees outside and I could not turn the steering wheel, then after about 3 minutes, the steering wheel turned fine...put it was still making the whinning sound as I drove, getting quitter as I drive over the next hour. Thanks again!
Scotty what would be a good cargo van model to buy (used) for commercial use ? I need a van that is reliable and cheap on fuel. i was thinking of Ford Econoline, I am even thinking of Dodge Caravan...any suggestion ? Thanks, love all your videos always great stuff...
Hey Scotty I don't know how many channels you have or how often you check them but I've got a 97 villagers is cavitating it doesn't have low fluid does that mean that I got replaced the pump or is that little switch thing you was showing is that something that might work for getting it going thanks for your help and all your great videos
Scotty, i have this problem with my sienna 2008. I have replaced the inner and outer tie rod for both sides. The car steering wheel is very firmed when not start. When it started, the power steering wheel feel lose, I can do more turn on the steering wheel without turning the car. Do you think the "intermedia shaft", "rack and bushing" or "rack and pionon" is going bad.
Hi Scotty, I'm from Nigeria. Always enjoy your video. My 2006 w203 Benz wobbles violently whenever I enter or drive 70km into a bend or curvy roads. Please can look into this for me? Thanks
I had a noisy PS and in my case my ps reservoir needed to be replaced, there is a mesh filter screen in there that over time can get dirty and prevent proper flow. On the 07 Chrysler town and country I'm thankful it wasn't the rack that was the cause.
Scotty great videos as always but I do have to comment on the fact that you said the metal lines do not leak. I have replaced rusted metal transmission lines on a camry and seen a pin hole leak on a power steering that did not leak as much as if sucked air into the system. I understand that they are unusual and uncommon but do not automatically rule them out. As for electric power steering my only experience with this is a car that came into my friends shop with electric power steering problems and it would have cost so much to fix that they totaled the car. Modern technology.
hey Scotty, thats an LS400 right? i dont know anything but, arent you suppose to add Trans Fluid on the power steering pump in that particular car, its indicated on the top

No matter the car or issue I have scotty is the man who gives me the answers. I have a 08 escape and the power steering Reservoir is sealed.
Nice video, but the titles are so vague and the fix is so specific LOL

Well that happens with mechanics it tends to be a specialized field
Fix it yourself

Oh man I have bumping in my steering it was ever so slightly low on fluid. I'm going to have to check it out. It's not making any noise so I hope just changing the fluid will do the trick. wish me luck. Nice seeing you again Scotty.
Man. I think you just fixed my life. I can't wait to try this.
Scotty thanks for your videos & helpful car repair advice! My power steering noise went away & my car drives so much better👍
I have referred to this man's videos for years, getting car repair help for free. Thanks Scotty. Keep yelling at your camera.
I wish no harm ever to come to this mans way ❤️
Indeed
I saw a jar of moonshine in the super market the other day. My Gran Pa used to make it and just pass it out in a plastic milk gallon. My Mom told me he took her on a two day ride to his site and explained the situation like this, "There's s mountain lion that lives in the cave above. If he get's us, you get on the donkey. He knows the way home on his own." Americans are hated to a small extent because we are so spoiled. People like Scotty help make us great again through ingenuity and self reliance. Wild Turkey helps me feel great!
How would I know if its the power steering pump or the power steering pressure switch?
Measure the pressure of the pump by pressure gage. And turn the wheel end to end while its running and reading is ok then pressure switch is fine. More check bypass by close to the gage valve for 4 seconds if pressure go high its bypass valve issue. If pressure go low the bypass switch works.
My daughter's when turns the power steering fluid shoots out can't really see where but guessing the switch?
I wish I would have seen this before I got rid of my lexus. That's a very big problem with LS400 cause the fluid leak on the alternator. Great video
scotty have you had any luck rebuilding power steering pumps?
Scotty knows his Stuff. Never doughy his word. Beside to notice how he wrapped the Teflon Tape. Most all wrapped it the wrong way.
Thanks, Scotty! You are my go-to guy. I wish it was that simple and easy to do myself.
James.
James Sasse sounds easy.
Wouldn't it get contaminated if there's a leak and it's sucking air into the line?
Kim Possible no,,,. Contaminated from age,,,. Should be replaced every 4 years,,. ??? Fluid is cheaper then a power steering pump or a rack and pinion,. If you do not replace the power steering fluid before 80000 miles,,,. You will be putting a rack in by a hundred and twenty thousand miles. ??? Roughly,,,
im gonna try this. haven't seen leakage from my system yet.
Love these videos Your straight to the point
Scotty Kilmer. you do a great job of getting the point and hitting the main points. well done sir.
Wow scotty, I saw 1uz fe, that's that damn lexus ls isn't it? I've been suffering from the same issue, rather the only issue with that car.
You're videos are very helpful, keep em coming.
Keep up the good work Scotty!!!
check the steering column for loose bolts or breaking bearings on the shaft
old smokey moonshine! Went there for vacation! Best stuff around
Scotty, great show always. However shouldn't to be using a jack stand?
sometimes you may think your power steering pump is whining but it could very well be a bad bearing on one of the teflon idler or stationary serpentine belt pulley....
Tim Vittetoe True, I replaced my power steering pump on my 2005 F150 and it didnt help. Turns out it was an idler pulley
What's good. I'm going to check that part out. Because my power steering pump was already replaced and the O rings. And I do see the leak, it was driving me crazy.
Scotty, my Audi A4 B6 Makes whining sound when turning wheel after driving for sometime. When i start the car and start moving the noise is no longer there but after an hour the sound becomes bigger and its like rubber without greasing coming form my shock mounting rubber. the ATF level for steering wheel is fine. what could be the problem?
on those, pumps are garbage and just wear out internally and need replacing
My steering wheel is rubbing with something, same as brake pad with the brake disc. Do you know what this can be? Thanks!
Love your videos, you make it look so easy. Keep it up 👍🏾
I wasn't able to get at it from the top, need a 17mm stubby to even turn the darn thing on my 96 Ls 400, be prepared for ATF fluid to leak out
Scotty here you use Teflon tape, could you also use RTV?
Tyrone Williams Very good looking.
Why are you so mad at punctuation? What did a comma or a period ever do to you, Ty? XD
@@DigitalBathInAZ You're not his teacher, nor is this a grading on grammar and punctuation course. 😑😒😴😴😴😴😴
Thank you Mr Scotty, though I wouldn't be doing it , I have an idea of what could've went wrong. Great video without much delay! Regards, Balan
Love the ls400
Mechanics must hate you scotty😂 but I love you my brother👍
Answering questions after drinking moonshine ---that will be interesting.. Lol.
Looking for info on power steering pump noise saw you face on the video and said yep that's the guy! Love your videos
Any fix to this?
yea, replace the pump with a new, not rebuilt, unit. Or just live with the noise
Scotty Kilmer Yes will be replacing it soon. Can you tell em which part causes that whine sound?
Dr Scotty. Can you Do one on a
5.3 1500 chevy suburban... 2004...
On power steering. Please please please
Hope you had the car on jack stands when you crawled underneath!
I don't
I don't generally it's safer but it's not really necessary if u have a decent Jack and are careful
(With the cap ON)
After a while, the liquid stopped leaking and when I checked the levels, it was exactly on the "upper" mark with the steering straight.
Well, you can go back to a metal junk yard and get a good piece of steel and weld it :). Scotty has a video on welding so go and watch that.
i have same car lol
Hey Scotty. Love your videos, man.
Quick question: I have the purring/whining sound when I turn my wheel. I was losing power steering fluid so I used some Lucas Stop Leak. Now, the fluid seems to not be leaking but I still have tight steering. Should I try adding more steering fluid or what? Thanks!
1:08 Just learned something new today, never knew that!
thanks for all your wisdom and time to make this video, you saved me alot of money and im able to make it to work now
Seriously Scotty . if I revved my car every time you told me...you'd owe me an engine overhaul
Hi Scotty, I have a 1996 Kia Mentor and this morning I heard like a knocking sound when I turn the steering wheel fully like after a stop or or at a slow corner. It doesn't occur in slight turns. The noise occurred both when turning left and right. Help greatly appreciated Scotty!
check for worn suspension parts first, jack it up and pull on the wheels and look for bad ball joints, tie rods, or A frame bushings that are worn
use a Jack stand Scotty hahaha
Scotty
I love your mechanic fiy videos
I have never tried your tuturials but I have a power steering leak, Just got rack and pinion done, Don't understand why all of a sudden I have a power steering leak, Do you think the shop mechanics fixed the rack and pinion and on purpose messed up my power steering to have a bad leak?
Scares me seeing you under that car with just a jack under it.
Trust your tools.
this is how man has fixed cars for hundreds of thousands of years since the beginning of time...
And e brake not engaged!
Exactly
First thing my dad reprimanded us (my twin and I), for! Always put a jack stand under the car and let the car down on it! Had a dear friend lose his life because he did not use anything but a jack to hold the car up! His wife found him dead, under the car that had fallen off of the jack!
Had to give you a thumbs up for the OLE SMOKY MOONSHINE!
Sometimes I think my power steering is whining but it’s just my wife talking.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!!
Perfect instructions. THANK YOU SO MUCH. That is what is happening with my hummer.
Great info there, Scotty. But what is wrong if the power steering system is only noisy (growly sound) turning the wheel to the left (95 Mercury Sable)? PS fluid level okay. 36K miles. Thanks for all your videos -- dig `em!
the power steering rack valve will often stick on one side and do that. Try flushing it out with a ps system flush, all auto parts stores sell em
Hey Scotty! My camry 2010 also have this kind of problem. Please clear me out by doing a video of this vehicle too
Another helpful video.
Howdy Scotty,
One day I was moving too fast and put brake fluid in my power steering pump.
I have the same car with the same problem you're the best Scotty
Pretty cool Scotty! I'm always looking so forward to your videos. I wish you had the time to do them everyday. I know you don't have the time but maybe one day a rich relative will leave you some money. Take care
Great skill, I will try to change this switch first, my steering is so difficulty to turn.
Scotty I know nowadays they've replaced hydraulic power steering pumps with electric motors and as you've shown us they've even started making electric water pumps. Have you ever come across electrical A/C compressors? I'm thinking that would be too much draw on the cars electrical system but it would sure be nice to have full ac performance at idle just as at cruising speed.
yes, hybrid cars often use electronic compressors, but when they break, BIG time repair money on those.
nice video now i realize what section to look for first on a power steering fluid system for leaks... rubber hoses first then steel tubes if the reserve is low ... curious obviously if the reserve is low is a good indication of a leak but will it always get low fast or is it ever easy to spot a leak power steering or brake system because the pressures are so high ... or do you need special dye like the ac system or other systems to pinpoint the leak....
Thanks again!
this helps me diagnose my pilot. thank you Scotty.
Scotty what would be a good cargo van model to buy (used) for commercial use ? I need a van that is reliable and cheap on fuel. i was thinking of Ford Econoline, I am even thinking of Dodge Caravan...any suggestion ?
Thanks, love all your videos always great stuff...
SMARTEST GUY ON THE PLANET!
SK is King of all the MECHANICS 💕
My Chev cobalt 2006 didn't work for me. Doing the ground wire I'm having the same problem. I did that it got worse. Help if you can thank you
hey Scotty, thats an LS400 right? i dont know anything but, arent you suppose to add Trans Fluid on the power steering pump in that particular car, its indicated on the top
