    Well done. Glad to see the updates. I visited Negril in February and have now booked a return visit for mid-July! Didn't plan on coming back so soon but we need a break and we're happy to help support Negril as well. Have been coming for many years and always look forward to time there. Jamaica appears to be handling the pandemic much better than the US. Take care!

    As a frequent traveler to Jamaica, at least twice a year before Covid, I miss the land, the ocean and the friendly, happy people so much. Hearing from the taxi driver and jerk chicken chef, I feel so bad and actually teared up when the taxi driver said that they miss us, becauce we miss you too. We miss our Jamaican friends that we have made over the years, and are looking forward to a time when we can safely return. Thanks you for your videos, they help to ease the pain.

    I just discovered your channel when I saw the title “lockdown Negril Jamaica” and was excited to see your great presentation about my beloved Negril. I came to Negril for the New Year and I’m still here as I haven’t been able to return back to Europe. After all those curfews and close Bussiness, where I still wasn’t board even for a minute, I’m so happy that slowly everything is starting to get back to life although it’s still curfew at 11pm. I wanted to experience again more of a normal life before I find a flight back and I am so happy that I stock here instead of being locked down in Europe. Negril is a Paradise, everything is relaxed and very safe here because it is not a big city. You people need to come so airlines from Europe don’t go to bankruptcy and you won’t regret it. 😊

    I’d love to hear what opinions are now. Are the Jamaican people thankful the country is back open for tourists? Have a trip planned in the coming months and we’re wrestling with the monetary benefit for the locals versus the potential health risks for them. Would love to hear the POV of Jamaicans.

    • @Throp
      @Throp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd say generally speaking Jamaicans are happy the country has started to open back up. At least that's the feedback I've received. It's been a challenging 5 months economically and physiologically but we all understand it was a necessary move by the government (the lockdown) that has been widely accepted and applauded.
      My personal opinion on coming here is that once you're here you're relatively safe. Throughout the country covid protocols are being adhered to and the government has been doing a decent job in managing the pandemic. Just be vigilant during your travels and enjoy your time time here once you arrive

In addition you will have to fill out a travel authorization form from the vistijamaica.com website. This goes for all travelers to Jamaica. Upon arrival you will be tested for Covid-19 and receive your results within 48 hours. Within those 48 hours you are to remain quarantined at your designated hotel. After you have been cleared by the ministry of health with your test results you will be free to roam the island within the "Resilient Corridor" which extends from Negril to Port Antonio (North Coast). Negril is like a ghost town without tourists, the problem is that will take a very long time for everything go back to normal after coronavirus. Now Mr. Wallance and hotels owners need to look how to make some regulations and promotion for Negril, I am european and our culture and point of view is different from America or Canada. You need to have in your staff people from outside that know to work with european mentality at this point, is not enough to promote the city or the hotels is more behind. I know well Jamaica and jamaican culture, from Europe this year will be hard for people to travel because our governments say do not take the risk. At the moment even the travel agency's is close down... There is something you can do but Mr. Wallance, Mr. Moore and some owners of the hotels in Negril need to seat down and set up a program for the tourists with a new regualtion and safety rules and send it out, not really in social media but where need it to be sent... Lot of work but I think with good return for the city of Negril... If you start first in Jamaica to change and give tourists what they need to hear to trust is safe to come in Jamaica anything can happend at least give a try to a new promotion that no one think about it....

    • @Throp
      @Throp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You raise some great points here. Things will certainly be different especially in the short to medium term.
      I must say Jamaica is taking this extremely seriously. Tourism is the islands life blood. The government has implemented policies and regulations to protect its citizens and visitors to the island. Some of these new regulations could be a bit overwhelming as far as implementation goes but they are necessary to protect the health and well being of all parties.
      As a community, Negril has really come together more than ever before to not only get through the lockdown phase of the pandemic but also to open back up in a safe and responsible manner.
      I hope you and other Europeans are able to make to Jamaica whenever you feel comfortable. We would welcome you with open arms, 6 feet apart of course

Anyway all of you from the Parish of Westmoreland need to do something I know Mr. B.Moore he's very open but Mr. Wallance can do a lot... Very soon is election again came out with new proposal to develop Negril after covid19. There is a lots of ideas in base at european culture to develop Jamaica don't need only americans and canadians but us from Europe as well. Not to sound vein or insensitive but no Jamaican or people living on an fertile like Jamaica should be complaining about not eating.... everyone should have food growing at their homes, people are becoming to dependent on government being fed what they want while their needs are being taking control by the same government they put in power over the people....It's madness seriously.

      We definitely try to encourage folks in our community to plant fruits and vegetables where and if they can. Jamaica is indeed a fertile land
