To everyone posting rude comments saying how bored you are, how useless or colorless or wasteful these ideas are, why are you watching videos like this? Go somewhere else to watch and find entertainment. If you watched looking for tips, as I did, but if you didn't like the ideas, then go somewhere else and try other ideas, but there is no need to express every colorless, unhelpful, rude comment that flies into your heads. This creator is obviously trying solutions that are personally helpful for her and that she hopes will help other people. Not all ideas are for everyone. Please keep your comments respectful and kind.

@@BenitaLarsson Thank you for your video and for sharing your thoughts. We can always get something good and helpful, even if it's not exactly the way we might do it! I am hoping I can find the opaque bins, I liked that idea and I really enjoyed the way you said we can hide things in plain sight!

I'm a 57 year old single man & I've recently discovered that minimalism is for me. My job takes me into people's houses and I now shudder at all the clutter and knick-knacks people live with. Coming back to my home (which is a work in progress) is an almost spiritual experience. The simplicity, peace and calm of it all is so restful. As a child I always loved the hush of libraries and art galleries. I find minimalism gives me that same emotion. I'm not just limiting myself to decor. I'm building a limited wardrobe which will consist of classic designs in neutral colours that mix and match. I'm going back to a dumb phone (I'm not on social media anyway). It great fun thinking of new ways I can add space and time to my life.
By the way, I love the tip about removing labels from items. It makes a huge difference.

I especially like the idea of removing labels. "I don't need to show where I got something." Yes, indeed.

Some great tips, I have a difference of opinion regarding colour...
If you love colour, like me, you don't need neutrals to reduce visual clutter. I suggest choosing a colour palette for your interior that is ideally kept limited to 1-2 base colours and maybe 2 additional pops of colour. Staying strictly to your colour theme consistently throughout will still provide a sense of colour uniformity and provide the eye a chance to rest.

Whenever I watch decluttering videos on TH-cam the people always have a lot of cupboards and drawers. Not much of a challenge to have clutter free work surfaces in your kitchen, it is more challenging when you don’t have much storage space.

I do quite a few of these things, and I think for some people it can be difficult to understand why we go through the “hassle” of removing labels and such. But as someone who gets distracted and visually overwhelmed so easily, it’s actually more stress if I *don’t* do these things.

We accomplish a minimalistic life in our tiny home but still enjoy color. Our palette of aqua blue, orange and yellow on a background of white, cheers us all year long. Our spaces are clutter free but we have a few pieces of colorfully happy art on the walls. Mid Century Modern vibe. I love the way you emphasize that there are different ways and levels of minimalism. Neutrals bring some people peace and calm but others need pops of color to add a vibrant note to our decor. Love, love, love your channel

I have a slightly different approach to this. In my case, the kitchen cabinets are unpainted light wood and the marble countertops and backsplash are also a light brown. To my eyes, that is so much tan/brown. I chose to get as many colorful accessories as possible, as a means of giving a few colorful pops to the area. Otherwise, it's a sea of boring brown.
That being said, my countertops are not very cluttered, so it's still a visually soothing space for me.

    4. Stick to neutral colors for daily items, including cleaning supplies (white, natural, gray)
    5. Decant products from busy packaging/ labeling into clear & uniform containers
    6. Remove labels/ stickers (food containers, cleaning products, clothing/ accessory labels, etc)

So true about white and neutrals blending in. My color palate is pinks and light greens and warm browns, but when I adopted my cat I bought her accessories in white or naturals. Her litter box and food and water bowls are white, and her basket of toys is a wicker hamper with a white liner. Her cat scratcher/bed is white and birch wood. They blend into the background very well, so I was able to incorporate everything to an already styled room without them sticking out too much.

Undergoing leukaemia treatment myself, I fully understand your approach. Your apartment is great, there is however one very irritating thing - radiators and all that plumbing. I sorted out that issue in my house with the underfloor heating covered in polished concrete surface. Yes, it is not to everyone's liking to dig out whole flooring area, but it brings so many positive aspects: remove radiators and use space for furniture (or nothing...), redistribution of heat is even and targets the coldest part of body, feet. Also creates a new dimension of space - it's joyful watching kids playing on the floor and knowing there are not getting cold.

What a treat! I deliberately saved it to watch it this morning, instead of last night and it was a morning delight to watch this wonderfully composed, inspirational video. Many things I already do, over the years (e.g. label removing& decanting), but your ways are more elegant and clean. Seeing Mr. Bonus was especially nice. I also loved the new angles and perspectives you used in this one... As you put it so wisely, when you declutter the visual matters, you can see more of what really matter :-) Many thanks for all the efforts you are making into all your works, dear Benita ♥

I think some of the people who had negative comments (too boring, too dull) have never been to Sweden. There is a simple, calm esthetic and white is often used for walls to enhance the incoming light. Love seeing exterior shots of Stockholm in another video! I love that city so much.

I do so many similar things - decanting, removing labels (household items and clothes etc, removing packaging and straight lines. And grey, white or translucent containers for everything, always the same containers when grouped together or inside the same cupboard.
Most of my friends think I'm crazy. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

Great video. It never occurred to me to remove large labels from bags or clothing. I usually just steer clear of those items which is sad if it's something that I initially liked.

I've tried to explain visual clutter to my husband and kids but I don't think they truly understood. I am going to show them this video because the examples (such as contrasting random colored items with neutrals) are extremely helpful and I think will really help them understand.

Decanting is something I learned from my mother. When I was a child, she'd put everything in varying sizes of Mason/Bell jars. Not only did it make the items easier to see, but it maintained the freshness of the products such as flour, sugar, grains, cereal, nuts, etc. As an adult, I've always done the same, but I tend to use the plastic storage containers similar to yours. I also decant my milk, cream and butter to glass dairy jars. Again keeping the product fresher and standardizes the refrigerator containers.
