I did not actually. If you look at his hip, it has a Predacon symbol on it, as well as in the fact that they OUT RIGHT STATE in the show that he was Reformatted into a Predacon. Those are their exact words. He's still loyal to his old Faction, but he is now in a Predacon Body.
Transmetal 2 Megatron was my holy grail toy as a kid while Beast Wars aired. I had every version of him and Optimus up until that point (including the bat vs alligator set) but never got the dragon. So 2 years ago when I discovered Jiang Xing and their 3rd party Winged Dragon (this character) I just had to get it which I did and I consider it the centerpiece of my collection but I'm really tempted to get this figure now, which I initially overlooked. Admittedly WingedDragon, for me, is mostly a display piece due to his size, weight, complexity and the fact that the more I touch it the higher the chance more of that beautiful paint job will get damaged. But this toy doesn't seem to be left wanting. Good size, complex (for a mainline) transformation, no QC issues, and a good enough paintjob for the budget. I wish given the lack of accessories they could've given him an articulated right hand but the recent leak about a Leader class Tigerhawk coming next year is making this purchase very tempting. For how good WingedDragon is, there's nobody for him to be displayed with as there's no 3rd party TigerHawk for the forseeable future and he's taller than TransArt's version of Optimal Optimus (which happens to pair well with Legacy's version).
I love me some Masterpiece and 3P figures, but a lot of the time they are more for display than for play. I think if you pick this up you will not be disappointed.
I know we got an Optimal Optimus not too long ago from Potp, but I’d love to have a Leader or Commander Optimal comparable to this behemoth of a dragon.
Also, if you don’t have him already, Tarn has to be the best figure from Legacy Evo. The robot mode has literally no kibble, it looks great, and I had to stop myself from just sitting at my desk and posing him repeatedly, since he has several specialty joints and just feels evil. Transformation has some interesting parts that are not very intuitive, and the alt mode is hindered by the hands sticking out the back, but definitely a must. Can’t wait to see your thoughts.
I have not found him yet, but people are telling me that he's VERY good. The Robot mode does look gorgeous. I can't wait to give you my thoughts when I finally have the opportunity.

I’ve gotta get this guy. I was on the fence when it was announced, but after seeing you, Thew, Baltmatrix, and Jobby all say it’s phenomenal, that changed pretty fast.
An awesome take on a mini masterpiece! This one is truly amazing! (Was gifted it as a birthday present at the star of the year). Managed to swap around the claw tips as intended by design (much harder than how Wiki makes it seem, but definitely doable, albeit very carefully so as not to break anything). Such a perfect figure in every way! And the 'hand feel' is sublime. Transports me to the QC of 4 decades ago when yours truly began collecting TFs somehow.
@PerspectiveEnd According to TF Wiki, the topmost moveable wing tip claws are meant to point the other way around. Makes more sense once it is done, and the figure works even better!
I just saw a video from someone doing a simple mod to give the neck more bend. It involves popping off the neck pieces at the bottom. It'll make the bottom of the neck look more hollow, but gives a greater range of bending.
Wave 3 of legacy had not come into my area yet so when it happens, I will DEFINITELY be picking this guy up. I love the way his wings flare out, gives him more of a presence on a shelf I would think.
The Legacy multiverse portal has opened from the Beast Wars universe to ours, and enters the Transmetal 2 dragon Megatron. He looks awesome as hell. Robot and dragon modes are a beast of a design to behold. Will be interesting to see if or when Hasbro repaints him as Cryotek. -He will be reissued in Legacy Evolution. I would have waited for that if I didn't find his Legacy packaging out in the wild.
Personally I'm not down for a Cryotek. Not a fan of that dude. Stole Megatrons Altmode, stole his thunder as the mastermind of Golden Disk Theft. And Cybertronians dont have beast modes on Cybertron.
This figure makes me so glad I got the POTP Optimal Optimus and one of its upgrade kits. They look great together and, from what I can tell from the show, actually scale almost perfectly

I've heard pretty universal praise for this beastie, and I'm glad he holds up so well. I personally prefer transmetal 1 Megs (it's mostly the colours), but the dragon style looks superbly done.

The only way to get Maximals on par with the Predacons is to either hope Silverbolt and the eventual depthcharge are S+ tier, or we get toy beast wars characters that are A+ tier. Also I think the only reason Megatron looks show accurate, is because there are no real dragons to make him accurate to, so they don't have to stick to make it real life accurate. Also also, my beast wars collection is temporary finished (may get this guy and Leo primal, don't have Airazor or Tigatron do to not like Airazor's face and not wanting to get bigger Cheetor with out her, and wanting toy beast wars characters) Also also ALSO, how many chibifomers do you have? You could a what's the best with them
Yeah here's hoping they can do those right. I mean the Original Silverbolt was nearly Perfect so that should be easy enough. Yeah that's what I was saying about that. The exact same thing happened to me with ‘86 hot rod a few years back, I ordered it online and then saw them fully stocked at my local Walmart. And man, regarding this figure, the sheer poseability surprised me. Legacy’s been pretty slow in my book, but when something’s good, it’s great.
When I got mine, I was impressed by the QC too. It was perfect! Then I went to transform it, and the arm wasn't tabbing in right, I looked at the instructions, I was doing it right. Fiddled with it for about 10 minutes until I realized the shoulder piece that makes his arm go out to the side, was on backwards. Luckily, it's just screwed in, so it was an easy fix.
When I got this figure for Christmas I didn’t think it would be all that great But when I opened it and transformed it It instantly became my favourite Legacy Leader class figure

Definitely a favorite Legacy for me. I love when a figure is just enjoyable to look at no matter what mode it's in. I don't even mind the toy styled robot face THAT much, as it fits the vibe of the rest of it (massive red demon of hate). For full presence, I like the wings splayed in every mode.
I absolutely loved this guy when I first got him in hand, this is Hasbro’s best leader class figure in a modern day CHUG line so far! Everything from his colouring to his robot and dragon modes are all glorious there’s no better way to say it! The next big leader class I’m looking forward too soon is the upcoming Armada Megatron, that guy will be amazing!
now all we need is a transmetal 2 megatron in masterpiece scale that DOESN'T cost an arm and a leg. but if you do need one you can get winged dragon off of the big bad toy store

This was one of my favorite toys as a kid. Along with Transmetal: Tarantulas, RatTrap, Cheetor Megatron and Primal. And the big Kahunas, tying for first place: TIGERHAWK and RAMPAGE! So… half a dozen “favorites” across two years worth of figures (26 total iirc?). Oh, and TM2 Black Arachnia. I had EVERY Transmetal (except AirRazor whom I never saw in stores) and EVERY Transmetal 2. All the Deluxe Fuzors, too. Though I gave some of the basic model figures a pass in that line. These toys were my shit! And I am SO STOKED to finally get a new TM2 Megs!
I LOVED the Transmetal figures as a Kid, you know me Shiny thing good, and they were so Shiny. I always wanted to like Rampage more than I did, but the Treads always broke for me. I had SEVERAL Airazors growing up, which was funny cause I didn't really care for her Transmetal figure. Remember the mutants who had no Robot modes?
I got this one the day I graduated college and it might be the only figure I have where I actually prefer the alt mode lol. I also realized watching this that the only beast wars characters I have are the Predacons with this, inferno, and Waspinator. Kinda makes me think I missed out when Kingdom was on shelves

For starters, it is nice to see you that happy again...yeeesssss 😈 And as for the figure, I'm not 100% sure, but since you said the Flame effeckt is reused it got me thinking from where it comes from. And I think that's a re-use from a Comander TF5 Megatron. Also, technicly there is one thing that this figure is missing, but I also know that it is a part that literally NOBODY cares about. Aka the transport mode. (but like I said, I struggle to find anyone who ever cared about this part). And as for the question of the video ... Who's your second favorite Transmetal 2 desighn and why?
Yes, it's nice to be Happy. Yes it's from the TLK Megatron you are correct sir! Yes that's missing and yes NO one cares. I guess that'd be Cheetor, because there were only Him, Megatron, and Blackarachnia in the show, and I actively Hated Blackarachnia's Design.
If you loved TM2 Megs this much, I can't wait to see you review Tarn. I picked one up a week or two ago, and it's absurd. It feels like they made an R.E.D toy and decided to give it an alt-mode. There are basically zero gaps in robot mode, and the poseability is nuts. There are one or two small hangups during the transformation, but overall, I'm a big fan.
I mean if it was a RED figure then it wouldn't be able to pose well because they couldn't even do that right in the RED line. And man I just can not find that thing yet.

Honestly I think the Transformation is LESS trouble now without that tab, so it's only better. I can't express how gratifying it is that they didn't Fuck this up.
Hasbro have seemed to be skipping those specific designs for the TMs, wonder why? Maybe they’ll pull them out some point soon but will first cover more core characters?
Here's the thing... It actually made the Transformation easier. That one tab actually was getting in the way it seems. It's more Fun to Transform now. So aside from one Tiny tab I'd actually advise to cut off now, I've had NO issues with the QC.
PE, I was going to tell you about the DNA upgrade kit to "fix" the face sculpt, but it appears you already know about it. Still I feel as though this gives the figure some extra touches that simply improve upon its overall greatness. I did pick this figure up, but not for myself. Instead this will be my nephew's Easter gift. He's 8 and this is going to blow his fucking mind. Anyway, amazing review once again. I'm off to repaint some more Target/Battlemasters.
Here's hopin Toyhax can chrome this lad up, they've done chrome stickers before like the mouth plates on their Siege and Earthrise Optimus sheets. Here's hopin I can find this figure soon too, I'm already hearing from my friends that they're seeing Evolution stuff already which has me oddly worried about not being able to find him.
I don't know that Chroming this entire figure with stickers, especially with the sculpted detail on every inch of it surface is even possible, and probably not a good idea.
Fun fact, the CAD files of this figure surpass most titans in pure polygon count due to the complexity of the sculptwork.

I heard if u remove the dragon neck covers can get more range. But it does sacrifice the clean look of it.

The only way to get Maximals on par with the Predacons is to either hope Silverbolt and the eventual depthcharge are S+ tier, or we get toy beast wars characters that are A+ tier.
Also I think the only reason Megatron looks show accurate, is because there are no real dragons to make him accurate to, so they don't have to stick to make it real life accurate.
Also also, my beast wars collection is temporary finished (may get this guy and Leo primal, don't have Airazor or Tigatron do to not like Airazor's face and not wanting to get bigger Cheetor with out her, and wanting toy beast wars characters)

The exact same thing happened to me with ‘86 hot rod a few years back, I ordered it online and then saw them fully stocked at my local Walmart.
And man, regarding this figure, the sheer poseability surprised me. Legacy’s been pretty slow in my book, but when something’s good, it’s great.
Yeah Legacy has been a mixed bag especially in wave 3, but this was top tier.

When I got mine, I was impressed by the QC too. It was perfect! Then I went to transform it, and the arm wasn't tabbing in right, I looked at the instructions, I was doing it right. Fiddled with it for about 10 minutes until I realized the shoulder piece that makes his arm go out to the side, was on backwards. Luckily, it's just screwed in, so it was an easy fix.

They spent most of the budget creating the sculpturing,transformation and paint that when it came time to make the head, they only had 10 dollars left

I think they called it a transmetal two since optimal megatron doesn’t make much sense, and mega megatron is a little cringe so they just went with transmetal two
Indeed it is a Transmetal 2 though it's really weird that it is, as it's the same process that turned Optimus into his Optimal form.

Definitely a favorite Legacy for me. I love when a figure is just enjoyable to look at no matter what mode it's in. I don't even mind the toy styled robot face THAT much, as it fits the vibe of the rest of it (massive red demon of hate). For full presence, I like the wings splayed in every mode.
Yeah the Wings Splayed is the best way to have him, It just takes up so much room when you are trying to review him, so I didn't.
I absolutely loved this guy when I first got him in hand, this is Hasbro’s best leader class figure in a modern day CHUG line so far! Everything from his colouring to his robot and dragon modes are all glorious there’s no better way to say it! The next big leader class I’m looking forward too soon is the upcoming Armada Megatron, that guy will be amazing!

Did megatron invent a new species when he gained this form, we know this isn’t just a weirdly shaped T. rex, since noble/savage has a straight up organic dragon mode
It's actually kind of unclear in Beast Wars if Megatron is a Transmetal 2. He looks like one, but he was created with entirely different means.
I honestly want to see how they can pull off a Beast Machines Megatron with this mold.
That may be the first BM figure they actually try.

This was one of my favorite toys as a kid. Along with Transmetal: Tarantulas, RatTrap, Cheetor Megatron and Primal. And the big Kahunas, tying for first place: TIGERHAWK and RAMPAGE! So… half a dozen “favorites” across two years worth of figures (26 total iirc?). Oh, and TM2 Black Arachnia.
I had EVERY Transmetal (except AirRazor whom I never saw in stores) and EVERY Transmetal 2. All the Deluxe Fuzors, too. Though I gave some of the basic model figures a pass in that line. These toys were my shit! And I am SO STOKED to finally get a new TM2 Megs!
I LOVED the Transmetal figures as a Kid, you know me Shiny thing good, and they were so Shiny.
I always wanted to like Rampage more than I did, but the Treads always broke for me.

And as for the figure, I'm not 100% sure, but since you said the Flame effeckt is reused it got me thinking from where it comes from. And I think that's a re-use from a Comander TF5 Megatron.
Also, technicly there is one thing that this figure is missing, but I also know that it is a part that literally NOBODY cares about. Aka the transport mode. (but like I said, I struggle to find anyone who ever cared about this part).

If you loved TM2 Megs this much, I can't wait to see you review Tarn. I picked one up a week or two ago, and it's absurd. It feels like they made an R.E.D toy and decided to give it an alt-mode. There are basically zero gaps in robot mode, and the poseability is nuts. There are one or two small hangups during the transformation, but overall, I'm a big fan.
I mean if it was a RED figure then it wouldn't be able to pose well because they couldn't even do that right in the RED line.
And man I just can not find that thing yet.

Sorry that wrist tab broke on your copy, but as long as it does not directly hinder the transformation, I guess its only a small injury for Megatron. lol Jokes aside, I have been wanting a figure of Transmetal II dragon Megatron ever since I watched Beast Wars back in 2018, and this figure has gone beyond my expectations on how fantastic a modern figure of BW Megatron's final form can have. :D Keep on being amazing.
Honestly I think the Transformation is LESS trouble now without that tab, so it's only better.
I can't express how gratifying it is that they didn't Fuck this up.

Here's the thing... It actually made the Transformation easier. That one tab actually was getting in the way it seems. It's more Fun to Transform now. So aside from one Tiny tab I'd actually advise to cut off now, I've had NO issues with the QC.

PE, I was going to tell you about the DNA upgrade kit to "fix" the face sculpt, but it appears you already know about it. Still I feel as though this gives the figure some extra touches that simply improve upon its overall greatness. I did pick this figure up, but not for myself. Instead this will be my nephew's Easter gift. He's 8 and this is going to blow his fucking mind.
Anyway, amazing review once again. I'm off to repaint some more Target/Battlemasters.

Here's hopin Toyhax can chrome this lad up, they've done chrome stickers before like the mouth plates on their Siege and Earthrise Optimus sheets. Here's hopin I can find this figure soon too, I'm already hearing from my friends that they're seeing Evolution stuff already which has me oddly worried about not being able to find him.
I don't know that Chroming this entire figure with stickers, especially with the sculpted detail on every inch of it surface is even possible, and probably not a good idea.
