    You should get yourself one of those deals where you can put the tree on one end and hock the other end on your tractor and pull it down the road

    Ah to be young feel your invincible again. Work safe you two, it isn't worth it getting injured by trying to toss a chunk of wood ten feet. Been watching since the build started. Be smart, be safe, be happy. Thanks for the videos.

    Katy and Greg, nobody can say that you two have no work ethic. I know so many people who rely on others for their existence and they wouldn’t know “work ethic” if they tripped over it. Carry on my Canadian Cousins but always be safe and alert!

    Since I am a very old man now, I sure do wish for you kids that my fortune in logging and mechanicing auto shops was still here as I would of passed it on to the two of you, that said, part would go to Jay and Jen as they are the hoot! They are just making the best of it as they know how to do. Always putting a smile on my face as the two of you do. At one time, I did own one of the largest helicopter salvage logging companies in the usa., that said, at least on the west coast. I made several poor decisions that resulted in my going broke from not knowing how to read or write. My son came down with cancer and so it motivated me to learn to read, if you can read, then auto correct will get you writing. I was a super proud man and that also did me very poorly as I just thought I was the stuff and all of that. Several years later, I know I am just a man with many visions. I would so loved to have some of the logging equipment that I used to own and put in a huge garden space for you. Hmm, I even had a drill rig that could of drilled a well for you kids. That is one of my wishes I have had for a very long time for you kids. I am to guess that my heart is in the right place at least. I take the full blame for my bad transgressions, and know god still does love me, as he does all of his kids

    big larch logs like those would be best used structurally.....there's plenty of lesser logs for burning
    AN EVEN BETTER IDEA: save your backs by reducing the amount of wood needed to burn to heat your place by installing a rocket-mass heater. They are beautiful and incredibly effective........less felling, trimming, cutting, hauling, splitting, burning is better all around. There are plenty of other tasks around to keep your bodies in shape. Less burning is best for all...... cheers, thanks for sharing!

    Wanted to comment on your chainsaw. I have the same one and i've only had the chain come off once out of cutting down 1800+ trees with it so far. It's a beast, and a good choice. You may be having slightly less luck with chain staying on due to blade size. I use a 24'inch and it's sufficient for our trees and works well. Also if a chain only barely nips a branch it's more likely to throw vs just following through. It's not meant for light duty limbs and will increase chain falling off if used for that purpose. This is meant for large thick limbs/trees. Use a smaller chainsaw for small brush.
    Anyway, my 2 cents with the same chainsaw.

  • @olledahlquist3784
    @olledahlquist3784 ปีที่แล้ว

    I suggest that you put a large tarp on the ground to catch the chips, then you can lift the tarp with the tractor and move it.
    I also suggest that you wear leg protection when using the chain saw and never - ever - have the tractor running when handling parts that are moving nearby. It is so easy to slip and parts might start to move and in a second you can lose your hand or arm. Protection comes first!
    But I like your videos and your work on, and outside, your cabin.

    I love watching y'all's videos. Sometimes I'm amazed, though, how complicated you like to make things. Why not move the bales one at a time with the wheelbarrow? Also get some chains and pull the 'felled' 🙂 trees with the tractor close to where you're going to stack them before cutting them up. You're not getting younger.

    Great investment, the wood chipper. The landscaping looks much neater and cleaner. Chickens are happier as everything smells so woodsy and fresh. By spring as all that wood chips is decomposing in the chicken manure, it becomes the best humus for the vegetable garden of really humungous red tomatoes, carrots, celery, onions and potatoes.
