It was great seeing the goats having fun on the property. Juniper was in rare form, trying to herd them. They gave as good as they got though lol. Made a lot of progress skirting the house, bucking,& splitting wood. Never dull living off- grid for sure. Hope you get some down time together. Have a weekend, stay safe, healthy, warm, productive,& blessed.💯❤️👍🏾😀🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Back when I was applying Firestone Rubber roofing, we used a similar product called water block. We used it on Josam drains among other things. Good stuff! Retired Roofer watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸 No Snow Just Breeze!
You guys are awesome, you do you, and don’t listen to the haters. I think your chopping method is awesome, and honestly, you’re actually saving time and moving the wood less doing it your way. Love you guys, and always happy to see a new video pop up from you!! ❤
Just wanna say of. all of the homestead off grid. Channels I watch. You guys are my favorite. The quality of your videos. The music. And your format. Thumbs up. A lot of us really love you guys. And wish you the best.
good work putting the skirting on It doesn't matter what it looks like as it will be covered up anyway, it doesn't matter if you patch it up, it's what works for you that counts.
For what it's worth I think your doing a great job waterproofing and sealing up your house. Also great job splitting and using a renewable resource. Thanks for the upload.
would be tempted to build 2 wood sheds, you must feel so relieved when you see you have a FULL shed ready for winter. Not as easy as it looks chopping wood well done Katie, Loving watching you 2 from the UK keep those videos coming
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT... MY BOSS NEVER WANTED US HANDLING PRODUCTION PARTS MORE THAN ONCE IF POSSIBLE... THATS JUST COMMEN SENSE PRODUCTIVITY AND WAY LESS LABOR.... GETTUM ERIC.. COMMENT ANSWERED.LOLOL!!
I always enjoy your show, you become like an extended-extended family. Here in Missouri where I live we used oak and other hardwoods to burn for our fireplaces and stoves so not as easy to chop, and the stump is not for ease of chopping it is to save the stress on your back, call it ergonomic stress reliever, smile, but you still have to bend over to pick it up. You do stay in great shape each winter, though. The walk down your driveway with you pack of animals reminds me of my days of walking down my half mile long driveway to get the mail. Have a great time, and until next time, so long.
Great job guys I think the rubber will keep the water out. And I think Katie is the hardest working woman on TH-cam she gets with it as does Greg. Stay safe God bless from Missouri
MORNIN YOUNGSTERS... GLAD YA GOT THAT SKIRT INSTALLED... WILL HELP TONS!!! AND IM DIGGIN THAT CHIPPER... GOOD INVESTMENT, HELP THE BARE AREAS OVER TIME... SOUTHEAST IDAHO USA IS GETTIN CHILLY TOO WERE AT 43OO FT.. WE WERE ABOUT 24DEGREES A FEW DAYS AGO. HAVE A BLESSED SATURDAY.. I REALLY ENJOY THE CHANNEL AND SEEING YA ALL OVERCOME HOME TASKS AND CHALLENGES! PEACE.
Like you said a beautiful morning and I will add a beautiful couple building a beautiful home with beautiful animals and beautiful property and last but not least building a beautiful life ❤☺️🥂✌🏼😎
Thanks for sharing your life with us right now I’m sitting back got a really bad bad cold away from the family locked in my room and I feel like I’m family with you guys thanks again for everything that you all share with us this is Scott from Pleasant Grove Utah
Just the slope of the land will keep the water from going under the house. U did a good job grading the land. That surround you built around the house should keep the house much warmer and keep the pipes from freezing. Maybe insulate all water pipes. GREAT JOB GUYS ‼️‼️ Vinny 🇺🇸
I can’t wait to just see videos of you decorating and maintaining the property and adding things that are needed for sustainability on your property. I’m so happy to be watching and supporting you both. Soothing to watch you both build give me inspiration to get out of the matrix. I’m from a city with processed foods and lots of noise. 😢I want out of dodge.
Hi Katie & Greg & Fur babies! Love that you invested in a wonderful chipper! My dad chopped wood for our home like you Greg. We heated with a wood stove a 100 plus farm house he and his 9 siblings were born in. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings
My wife and I have just subscribed to your channel and we love it. We live in Rosehill Alabama. Keep making awesome videos and we’ll keep watching. Y’all be careful
Great job from splitting wood to doing the skirting.. it's your house do it your way. You have a good plan and follow it through. You 2 have got this all figured out. Thanks for the video
i love this channel for the content and the two people. you two inspire my elderly life. i adore and enjoy you both Greg is so smart and the love is so wonderful between you both is refreshing. i grew up in the construction business and know how to do mist every phase of it. Then retired as a GC in W Tn of the USA. i simply love Katie and Greg Great souls in this mixed up world.
I bet your hands do hurt, and I know all about back pain. But, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive! Looks like a good plan for the skirting and keeping water away from the house!
Reflectix is great. When I built my off grid cabin, I used it on top of the subfloor, shimmed 3/4" on top of that and then laid my 3/4 plywood over that. That makes an air space in the floor and the reflectix transfers the warmth from the wood stove back up into the floor. It's like a super cheap heated floor without the electrical drain using heated coils in the floor.
Great idea with the rubber membrane, you repurposed it from a different use, to yours. We used to paint the susceptible foundations with tar, same concept, should be same results. My two cents worth..lol Love ya'll ❤️
I absolutely love seeing you take your goats for walks with the dogs and cat. I think the goats think they are dogs. So cute. You are doing a wonderful job on your house and winterizing it as well. Coming along nicely. It looks like you are getting plenty of firewood for the winter and cleaning up your land as well. I am eagerly waiting for next Saturday to see what you are doing next. Awesome site, I am glad that I found it.
Swinging that axe brings up the expression not a spring chicken or there is still some kick in this old chicken. Nice work on the wood supply for the winter. It's easy to see the animals love their little walks in the forest with all the family. It's all a wonderland in the forest. The rubber barrier looks good and will keep the water out from under the house. The house insulating R factor is greatly affected by water moisture.
When I was putting in wood I made the woodshed 24’x24’. I put the 1x6 siding on the inside so the wood wasn’t trying to push the sides off. I could store 8-9 cord and I could rotate the green and dry. I think you need a bigger woodshed. 😏
your technique has improved so much since I have started watching your videos / a women your size can split wood with the big boys / It's like swinging a bat, golf club or hockey stick. all in how you direct the energy / all you have to do is develop head (axe head) speed
Holy crap that second video was crazy fast. 😂😂my husband and I tried it and that first swing hurt so bad we looked at each other put the axe down got In the car went to harbor freight purchased a wood splitter. 😂😂😂. That shit is hard.
Super job Katie and Greg( Still have stickers on your new coveralls!!) haha👍 You have so many projects to do before winter and your getting them all done! Sweet!! 👍 B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Using your used rubber roof membrane for waterproofing is great, but take some and lay it out on the dirt under your house to stop the dampness from coming out of the ground and into your house through the uninsulated floor. If not you will develop mold problems in the future
Hi Katie & Greg, looks like Juniper is enjoying your goats. I agree, you can never have too much firewood. That’s good exercise doing all that splitting. Good plan to slope the ground away from your house. The rubber will help too. Are you installing a French drain around the perimeter later? Well, back to my drywall.
Good morning guys how you guys doing today are you guys going to make a path for the water hose or what's going on so that way you don't have to keep digging it up go down the path and just put your hose in so that way you're all set that way you have to keep digging it up all right guys have a great day
Great work on the rubber protection to protect the underside of your foundations. Katie is brilliant in chopping the timber blocks. You look you will have plent of wood for the winter. Keep up the good work. 😀💛👍👍
Hello Katie and Greg. Katie, you are a bad ass with that axe. Greg is also good with it. Will your wood supply last through winter? It is good to see you will have storage under the house. Since you invited comments: I would have cut patches, cleaned the sides that would come in contact and used contact cement. I have not used what you did, but I am sure at some point during the winter we will get an update on your method. I vote YES. Have good days!
I saw a guy put all the wood rounds together in about a 3 foot diameter circle. He then wrapped a chain with a bungee around the circle. He just started shopping away. The bungee gave enough to split the wood a it kept it together so you don’t have to bend over every time.
I had a problem with water sleeping into my basement . I worked in a grocery warehouse and they had what's called slope sheet. I put that down then a layer of gravel and then dirt it worked great. A heavy plastic could do the same thing
Hey great job on the waterproofing. Someone else trash is a treasure when your trying to safe money. Greg, you are a true McGyver I positively sure it will work. You two are amazing chopping the wood. The goats are so funny. Hope you all are having a good weekend. You both are such hard workers.
where I live if you your floors underneath are at least 3 ft from the ground moisture will cause mold issues on the wood we have to put at least a good 6 mil plastic on the ground underneath the house
Juniper looks like Austrailian 'cow dog. I owned one, very smart and easy to train. She is showing her instinct to herd.
Beautiful...at peace with nature and all her children...two legged and four legged
Go Katie go! Wow she's doing a great job of splitting that wood. Heck yeah.😄👍
I absolutely love your videos of your walks with your sweet little animals. In my mind I am there with you.
It was great seeing the goats having fun on the property. Juniper was in rare form, trying to herd them. They gave as good as they got though lol. Thanks for the peaceful walk in the morning 🐕
That was nice to see the old clip. He finished chopping all the wood in 1 min flat!!
Spring chicken or not, Greg is a beast and Katie has great wood chopping form. I also covet the wood chipper.
Hydraulic Wood splitter you need

You are the man Greg. Your both blessed to have each other. No better team on
UT
Production is still running good and showing progress with all kinds of subjects??? A+!!! Thank you! Very enjoyable!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
Get you a log splitter. Have two wedges welded on it forming a X. It will quarter your rounds in one pass. Plus Katie can run it while you stack
For what it's worth I think your doing a great job waterproofing and sealing up your house. Also great job splitting and using a renewable resource. Thanks for the upload.
nice looking dried wood! its good to get rid of fire hazard stuff.... thats how i chopped my wood good job! rubber should be ok looks good!
my dad is dying this week , your keeping positive.

Pretty cool having the important things for the house with the winter arriving ... more comfort during the snow time 💫💯

Way to go Katie & Greg! I love how your work is always so neat and tidy or at least it ends up that way. Thanks for my armchair entertainment 😊
Blue Heeler wants to herd the goats, very funny.....a dangerous game when you're only a puppy.
It’s so cute the way Juniper hides behind the tree from the goats.
OMG your ceiling is beautiful! The wood and the stain color really pulls the room together. It's totally awesome!
Chopping wood can also relieve stress.😄
We chop the wood that is full of resin and use it as a lighter. Burns like tinder.🙏
count your blessings that you are able to get all that used rubber roofing that can solve many of your homestead problems
Love watching and listening! I think the rubber will work perfectly! God bless you guys!
Great job guys I think the rubber will keep the water out. And I think Katie is the hardest working woman on TH-cam she gets with it as does Greg. Stay safe God bless from Missouri
I think your way of routing the water will work just fine.
Well done you will be nice and cosy and warm this winter.❤️🇦🇺👍🌼

I remember splitting wood in my younger days and it was actually relaxing.
It's one of my favorite things to do
My wife and I have just subscribed to your channel and we love it. We live in Rosehill Alabama. Keep making awesome videos and we’ll keep watching. Y’all be careful
love the throw back video clip Greg so young and virile

I had some 60 mil EPDM from a tearoff that I used under my deck covered with river rock. Kept water away and weeds under control
thanks for speeding up the firewood footage / we have all seen fire wood cut
Firewood Friday :) Thats what you should call it lol Love the wood chipper it will definitely help. Love the progress
When are you going to put the siding on the house
Awesome wood cutting! 🪵 😊👍💕💕💕
You 2 are real champions. 😁😁🤣😂
You all are splitting machines. 😊 💪🏻
I think you might know this but here goes. There is usely a crack or split in the wood so when splitting always start with the crack or split.
younger Greg was beast mode and older Greg was help me please mode! LOL
It's beautiful there. Thanks for sharing your journey. NC USA

Katy you can paint that blue siding to just about any colour.
Anger management and a good workout with that wood choppin

Greg if you have an old large tire try putting large pieces of wood inside tire and then splitting with axe. Works very well for me.
The animals are having fun and enjoying the walk have a wonderful weekend GOD BLESS
Ah there they are! 🐐🐐😄🙏
It’s amazing how you both work so hard together to achieve your dreams and goals. God bless you both
Looking really good! I think you are doing a great job Greg. I definitely think the water proofing will work.
Great job family, y’all are beating the cold stuff, congratulations on the siding and wood splitting, you’re doing it well! 🍁🍂🎃🍁🍂
Using your used rubber roof membrane for waterproofing is great, but take some and lay it out on the dirt under your house to stop the dampness from coming out of the ground and into your house through the uninsulated floor. If not you will develop mold problems in the future
I love what you are doing, the house looks awesome! The skirting looks great.
Put several blocks together put a log chain around them just tight enough to keep them from falling over
10 ton manual log splitter works great!
Hey guy;s what ever works for you go for it .The rubber is a great idea for the cost of your time gotta like that well done guy's
Wow!! That is some serious hard work!! Great job; hope you two had some down time in the hot tub!!! 🎉

yes, we'll be adding a few french drains in various places
Such amazing partnerships
I just Love how tame your goats are❤ Makes me miss mine😢

Brilliant video great job and lovely couple new sub 🐕🐕👍👍👍
good jop Katie and Greg i like you videos greetings from the Nederlands 👍❤
Damn, that wood splitting hulk style was bad ass!
where I live if you your floors underneath are at least 3 ft from the ground moisture will cause mold issues on the wood we have to put at least a good 6 mil plastic on the ground underneath the house
Looks good from my house !!!
Man, you look dangerous with that ax. Love the variety of your chickens and birds.
